I want to change my car and the 2 are on offer for about the same amount. 1 is a jeep the other a saloon. Its good having a jeep but better having a reliable car that will last a while and mechanic doesnt have to tell you we have to go to Lagos/Onitsha/Cotonou (i live in Jos) to get the part and it will take 5 days.
I have read up the reliability, features, consumer comments on both cars but mostly foreign users who bought these car's new.
I want a naija user who has used the imported/Cotonou/Belgium/Tokumbo versions of this cars.
What i want to know specifically are:
1) fuel consumption
2) reliability on naija roads
3) how solid on long journey
4) can mechanics work on it easily if for instance you are stuck in the village
5) are the parts readilly available
6) speed, turn at road bends, acceleration etc
7) any other obsevation is very welcomed

No basis for comparism between both; one is a sedan (I4) and the other is a SUV (possibly V6). I like the mitsubishi SUVs, they are quite good in performance and fuel consumption.

I think Outlander is a 2.4l 4 cyl.

It will consume a little more fuel than the 1.8ish litre corolla but space and utility is priceless on naija road fewer armed robbers will be looking at your car.

I've used the 2004 Corolla before selling it off. Its good in fuel economy (1.8L), reliability and non dilapitated roads. Cons are: shocks, very light at high speed (like paper, especially when a truck sped past you), less space and not too elegant. Presently, I own the 2006 Outlander. The fuel consumption is more (2.4L). Its good for highway driving, but quite annoying for city driving with the ac on. The outlander is elegant, calls attention from passersby, also reliable, balanced at high speed and pretty good for Ninja roads. I think the basic difference is you pay more at gas stations, but feel save at high speed and on Nigerian highways. If you ain't misery with PMS, get the Outlander. The maintenance is good either. Best of luck.

If you think the outlander consumes fuel in the city, what will you say of Mitsubishi endeavor V6 3.8L engine.Very strong midsize Suv in another world of its own.I'm actually contemplating getting either 2006 Outlander or 2006 Endeavor i have not yet made up my mind.
So for me i still think that 2.4l Outlander is still reasonable in fuel consumption.

Why the comparison though

@ Ndata, Ops requested for virtually all the information I provided (durability, fuel economy and maintenance). You never can tell he might be using presently a fuel economy car, which makes it tough to adapt to a 2.4L engine. If I've a 3.8L engine Endeavour, I won't see it money wise to drive it as my only car, especially when I do long city drive daily. I would rather get a fuel efficient car to move around town daily and only use my SUV when I need to. Anyway, it's ones choice to save or spend more at the pumps. Cheers!
