A few days after breaking the news that President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Patience Jonathan, was hospitalized in Germany, SaharaReporters has learnt that Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s Minister for Petroleum Resources, is also receiving treatment in a London hospital for a serious medical condition.

One of our sources disclosed that Mrs. Madueke’s condition did not require immediate hospitalization, but described it as “potentially serious.” The source, who is a medical doctor, was only willing to divulge that the minister’s diagnosis is for a condition related to abnormal cell development in her body. The doctor declined to disclose if the diagnosis was a form of cancer, but said Mrs. Alison-Madueke’s condition “assumed a dire dimension recently.”

The medical source and another source close to the minister’s family told SaharaReporters that, prior to her recent hospitalization, Mrs. Alison-Madueke had made monthly medical trips to the UK. One source disclosed that she sometimes used private jets arranged by Kola Aluko, a business tycoon with whom she has business ties.

SaharaReporters gathered that the Petroleum minister owns a jet that is kept in trust for her by Walter Wagbatsoma, an oil marketer recently charged by the EFCC for involvement in oil subsidy scam.

SaharaReporters learnt that the minister hid the medical nature of her trips to London by telling friends and other government officials that she was going to see her children living in the UK. “For this trip three days ago, Madam said she was escorting her children who were returning to London to continue their schooling,” one of our sources said.

One source revealed that the minister flew to London few days after accompanying Mr. Jonathan on an official trip to Anambra State. Even though the minister is married, there have been persistent speculations linking her to a romantic relationship with President Jonathan.

SaharaReporters learnt that the president’s ailing wife had complained to her close friends that Mrs. Alison-Madueke had caused her condition because the oil minister wants to take her place at all cost.

Meanwhile, a source told SaharaReporters that Mrs. Jonathan’s condition has stabilized in Germany where she is being treated for food poisoning. The source said the First Lady came down with food poisoning in Dubai where she had gone on a secret mission to explore undergoing some procedure.

The nature of the procedure remains a mystery, but a source at the Presidency said he knew that Mrs. Jonathan close friend, Bola Shagaya, had been persuading her to see a Lebanon-based cosmetic surgeon.

The source added that the First Lady was interested in enhancing her looks.

The Presidency remains officially silent regarding the nature of Mrs. Jonathan’s current condition in a hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany. Instead, Presidency sources have been releasing snippets of various versions of her condition to different news outlets.

A source in Abuja said she suspected that Mrs. Jonathan might have undergone a procedure in Dubai from which she got an infection.

It is not easy to steal, lie and kill with evil policies. All the curses are beginning to take its toll. The blood of those killed will fight back no doubt, and no amount of money can stop death. The money they steal is curse money na.Ebo.

Can you imagine what a national "newspaper" wrote? This is the level that the Nigerian Fourth Esate of the Realm, nay most Nigerians actually, have Sunk. Unabashed "Rumour Mongering" now pass as "News" as long as the word "my sources", who of course are always "anonymous", is mentioned; and a lot of people are willing to spend their time debating the "news"( watch and see this thread get to Page 10). We have lost every Sense of Shame and the Sense of what is really important cos we are bombarded with opinions of some Power Mongers who would use any means within their grasp( including PROPAGANDA) to achieve their selfish goals( it is almost seen as WARFARE, and all is fair in war). We spend time across d nation now debating complete friviolities and half-truths planted by some selfish interest(on all sides- PDP, ACN, CPC, Hausa/Fulani, Ijaws, Igbos, Yorubas, Xtians, Muslims, 'ex'Militates, BH operatives and dier sympathizers, Labour, North, South etc) instead of FOCUSING on REAL issues. Every single interest is in a mad rush to capture d 'Public Space' to furda its own narrow interests, and evrione seem to hv forgotten d interest dat shld count most- NIGERIA.

Just yesterday, someone posted an article saying that Gen Buhari was "spotted in Minna"(ie IBB's territory) and concluded that the General went to "beg" IBB not to publicly disclose the purported malfeasance that he committed while in office. Predictably, most persons began to call the General all sorts of names as though IBB's House is the only location in Minna that Buhari knows( argument: if he went to Minna, he must have gone to see IBB and also must have gone to "beg" him). The illogicality in dis argument is not lost on those persons(and dier sympathizers) whose narrow interest is served by espousing it, as long as well, those interest are served.

My brother, I am as shocked as you are. I wonder why people are this gullible in this part of the world. Anything goes, just say it and it will sail.
Even on Nairaland, it baffles me how supposed literate men take news items from online newspapers such as SAHARAREPORTERS(SHOPRITE OF LIES) very seriously inspite of their rich history of misinformation and falsehood.

This sahara report too much, I wonder how they get their info.
I suspect there is divine hand in these cases, these women better be prayerful and repent their greedy ways.
I reserve my comment on the alleged procedure undergone by the first lady.
Funny though that she was alleged to have told a friend that mrs diezani madweke
caused her present condition. If she truly said so and see the minister as a threat, it would make sense to believe she went for a procedure.
God has always been known to take care of people inconvenience us in nigeria.

If you check her schedule, you will understand that she needs some rest.
She is only resting in a London hospital.
Someone should remind Abati to pay me for doing his job for him while he was sleeping.

Which one be your one? Let's wait & see events unfold. Remeber they kept telling us Umra was running up and down the stairs while the man was in a vegetative state

Sahara reporters has mostly been right on their reporting. Guardian and other national dailies are busy taking brown envelopes so we don't trust them

Meanwhile, this woman in question was shown on air yesterday attending to some directors in the Nigerian Gas company over the linkage to GEREGU power plant.
Except, she was flown abroad just this morning because that report showed her in a parley with the director's yesterday.
Believe this rumours and you will believe anything.

You will be shocked to see her in tomorrow's FEC meeting. Let's watch and see. I have learnt not to trust these petty Internet based newspapers

Hmmmmmmm. SAHARAREPORTERS on the loose again. A source said this, a source said that. Who knows the truth? If there's any iota of truth in this report, then I wish her a speedy recovery. She is the best performing oil minister of all time in Nigeria. I don't want anything to derail her PIB and other reforms. Residents of ABA metropolis are singing her praises daily for restoring the NNPC depot in ABA, Which has been lying comatose for 8 years now.

Your humpty dummty rhyme is most inappropriate in the circumstance. Can't you just behave maturely for once?
You are busy erecting your happiness on the false propaganda of a junk newspaper. Do you fathom the level of shame that will befall you in the event that all these stories were false?
Do you just think think at all?

@2mch,

OLODO! Were ni e! This shows you don't even watch news at all. I just found out I have been discussing with an Agbero all the while. An Agbero who doesn't know that FEC meetings hold every Wednesday since OBJ days in 1999. I'm happy you have come to learn this night. If you have a TV , stay tuned and watch CHANNELS TV or AIT or even STV news later today and you will watch the outcome of FEC sessions. Try it next week too and start following it. It will redeem your iilletracy. Please always tell them I told you first.

On Sunday, we were here discussing Mrs Jonathan's medical trip to Germany, On Monday Dr. Abati vehemently denied it. Today we are here on same subject, different ailment, Now Diezani hospitalized. Who/what do we believe? I'll rather wait to hear from Dr. Abati tomorrow before I can comment on this subject.
