@follyflash

There are several reasons for decreased libido. Are you stressed? How old are you?

@largie
Sorry, there is no scientifically proven sexual position that trumps all others.

The culture would grow gardnerella but this is not considered an infection. Has the discharge improved?

Hello doc thanks for your info. I am 8wks pregnant and my husband is practically avoiding having sex with me. He says he might hurt the baby. What do I do about this situation. Thanks.

@demi2008
Then I would suggest a blood test to be done on the 3rd day of your period to make sure your ovarian reserve is good. How old are you?

I am 28yrs old is there anyway i can do d blood test without it being through my GP because she is not as anxious as i am she said i'm less than 35 so i should be less bothered but in fact i am bothered

Hi, I've gotten in touch with a private clinic who could do the test for me but they want to know what my GP advised if its FSH or ESTRADIOL i want to do. Its a private clinic and the test is very expensive do u advise i spend so much money or follow my GP'S advise and be patient
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 6:16am On Jun 12, 2008
@demi2008
As I stated in the prior post, I agree with your GP. I can tell that you are really anxious about all this but that in itself could be a major obstacle for you. Since you have been trying for over a year, perhaps your GP could refer you to a reproductive endocrinologist. As for the lab test, I was talking about fsh to determine ovarian reserve but you are only 28. However, if it gives you peace of mind, aleuta continua!

@nezerst
You have to be understanding and not take it personally. Reassure him that he will not be hurting the baby. Perhaps it might help if your ob could explain things to him. good luck and congrats
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 6:33am On Jun 15, 2008
@follyflash
You didn't answer the second question. How is your life? How stressed are you? Sometimes, it is not just a matter of what you can take.
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 6:35am On Jun 15, 2008
@kechai
The reason you noticed it the first time after having sex is because of the semen. Semen is alkaline. In the office, we keep KOH to amplify the smell. As I stated before, it is not an infection per se. If it happens again, a brief course of antibiotics would clear it up
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 6:39am On Jun 15, 2008
@ gasplant
welcome. I have enjoyed your commentary on the other doctor thread

1 No sweet foods do not affect performance
2 The sperm die
3 No they do not have any effect on weight
4 fingering does not affect fertility
5 Likely her cervix
6 doesn't hurt

Hi doc.

It's been a long time since I posted in this forum.You are really doing a very good job. God bless you.

Pls I have some questions.

1. Can PID cause a fetus to abort sponteneously?.

2. if YES, can antibiotics correct it

3. When is the right time to take clomid, 2nd day of one's period or the 5th day?

Thanks and God bless you.
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 1:15am On Jun 17, 2008
@soapdish
Welcome backsmiley
PID can cause a fetus to abort but it has to be active. People with a prior history of PID have problems with conception not with carrying pregnancy

There are several types of antibiotics. Your gyn will select the most suitable regimen

clomid should be taken on day 5

Dr. Kathy,
How do I know a woman is ovulating? what are the signs?
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 4:13am On Jun 26, 2008
@emmydee
Some women have pelvic pain and bloating called mittelschmerz when they ovulate however if you are not one of these women, ovulation occurs ~14days before the onset of your menses. If you know the number of days of the woman's cycle, you will be able to predict when she ovulates. There are also changes in the vaginal secretions due to progesterone.

Hi Doc Kathy,

I must commend the selfless service you are rendering to us here, May God bless and reward you.

Please I want to know the cause of bartholin's cyst. Some years back I noticed something like growth on my uterus when I went to see a doc, she said its bartholin's cyst and suggested minor surgery. I cdnt do it immediately though due to some financial constraint. About 3 yrs back I did the surgery in another hospital but the in less than a year, the cyst came back again. I have not removed it yet, am scared. What do I do to avoid re-occurence and is there any other means of removing it, maybe drugs apart from surgery?

Thanks.

Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 2:33am On Jun 29, 2008
@shalata
sorry about the miscarriage but congrats on the pregnancy. What is your blood type? Rh isoimmunization is only considered ifyour blood type in negative. It is also not associated with first trimester miscarriages. The most common cause of first trimester miscarriages is genetics. I highly recommend omega acids with prenatal vitamins. There are several brands but I use prenate DHA and primacare one because these are single pills. Go to your gyn immediately. Do not wait and make sure they test your progesterone level. If it is low, they will suggest supplementation which is a good idea. I am not familiar with the lagos hospitals but I recommend going to one that has good word-of-mouth.

@jesu seun
Your wife should talk to her obgyn for medications with regards to her nausea. there are several options
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 2:37am On Jun 29, 2008
@ngcom
I am a little confused because a bartholin cyst is located in the vulva/vagina and not in the uterus. It is not dangerous but can get infected and surgery is the only way to remove it.

dear doctor,
please kindly assist in rendering an opinion that could help a good friend. i have a friend in Lagos whose wife has had four miscarriages in about six years.The last one happened about a month ago.she usually carry the fetus to about four months before the miscarriage.usually the miscarriage is preceded by vaginal bleeding.she doesn't work so not in any stressful condition.with this last pregnancy she was told she had a weak cervix and she had a procedure to close the cervix and was later placed on bedrest for about a month before the losing the baby right there in the hospital.so,i need a medical advise.does anyone know a specialist ob/gyn in Lagos or Nigeria?should they seek the advice of a fertility expert?i heard there is one in Lagos.should they try again without knowing the cause of these miscarriages.does any one has any recommended test/opinion that could assist her Nigeria doctors.i look forward to answers to all these questions from men and women of goodwill. it will delight my friend's wife to know that the world cares attempt her condition and that collectively we will try and solve this misery.i will print all responses to her to read.i thank u all.

Thank you very much Doctor. Yes, the uterus was a mistake, the bathilon cyst is on the right side of my vagina.

Actually I met a doctor last weekend who also told me the same thing, I intend to remove it soon but how do I know if its infected now because presently am sick and the tests I did showed malaria. I have bn treating this malaria since over a month now without good result? Oncemore, thank you so much for your proessional advice.
