I urge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent and Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to start arresting and prosecuting former governors’ wives along with their husbands.

This has become necessary as the wives supported their husband-governors to loot the tills while in office. The former first ladies also engaged in corrupt practices, as some of their programmes lacked merit and accountability. Let them be prosecuted together. This should warn the incumbents.

I agree with you, but how do you charge somebody who has no office?
The constitution of Nigeria does not recognize the office of the first lady, thereby does not officially receive money for projects from the government. The past and present governors should be the ones standing trial for diverting public funds to the infamous first ladies office; then at the end of the day, the so called first ladies will account for the all the monies used.

A typical example is Murtalla Nyako whose four wives are playing first ladies at the same time. embarassed

The truth is that there's nothing a Nigerian woman can do to prevent her husband from stealing. There's the (slight) possibility to that you will end up punishing some innocent spouses. The fairest way to punish them is to seize all the money and properties their husbands stole. wink

For what Dr. Sam Egwu did to the people of Ebonyi State, Eunice Egwu should also be prosecuted as well. Let's not forget that Hope High International School was also acquired with public funds allocated to the state. As stated, "the projects include Hope High International School, Grace Court Hotel and Suites, Widow Care Foundation headquarters building, and private properties of the Egwus in Abakaliki. Investigations at the EFCC revealed that Nwonu, the former auditor-general for local governments, had sometime ago discovered about N3 billion fraud in the local government system. Instead of being rewarded, he was reportedly suspended by Egwu's administration".
