Hello,

1. Admission into MBBS everywhere is tough and highly competitive. This is an absolute truth. So, irrespective of the school you choose, you must work super-hard to get in.

2. Anyway, I'd suggest you choose UniAbuja in your application.

3. Making such a heavy change in your career simply because of your WASSCE result wasn't a good idea. The resource and stress you put in this your B. Tech program would have been invested in another attempt...or something else. The objective is not to "leave home quickly" but to "leave home when you've gotten what you want...or something close to it.."

4. Just to add, could you please try writing in full? It was pretty hard reading through your post up there.

5. Good luck.

Thank you for the eye opener bro. Uniabuja considers all states of the federation as catchment area; just like UI. i'd suggest he checks out UNIJOS, UNILORIN and ABU and decide which one he is going for. They are specific for kogi as part of their catchment area.

How is studies Sir?. i will send you a PM.

Questions on long clinical cases....

A lethargic 32-year-old woman was brought to your clinic. She complained of dyspnea, General fatigue, and oedema in the lower extremities.
She was diagnosed of severe thyroid crisis, more clinical examination shows hyperthyroidism with congestive heart failure and liver dysfunction. Soon after admission, sudden cardiopulmonary arrest occurred. She was then transferred to the intensive care unit. Her serum glucose level was 7 mg/dl.

Questions....

a. Discuss in details the pathophysiological pathway/correlate of thyroid hormone in respect to the congestive heart failure, being specific on the type(s) of circulatory shocks that occurred here...

b. Discuss the reason for the serum glucose levels at 7mg/dl, assuming that the levels of insulin/glucagon ratio was normal. Relate extensively to thyroid hormones, and cardiac failure if possible the remedy...

C. Outline other probable latent symptoms(complications) before the patient surfaced and potential complications if proper/immediate care is not taken?

I'm a 30yrs old Bsc (Animal science) and Msc(Animal breeding and genetics) holder.
It's been a childhood dream of mine to study medicine and surgery and I have not been able to do so due to some circumstances of which finance is one of them.
Having built up a small business I believe can help me sponsor the program am contemplating starting this year.
I simply have one question, am I too old for this journey?
I started my MBBS program at 37 but am doing very well, so my brother go for it and you will never regret it

Medicine is an Art, a Vocation. You can do it at 'any age' as long as you are physically and mentally capable.

Its never too late to achieve one's dream and live a fulfilled life.
Friends and families will discourage you but you shouldn't be bulged.
It's your life to live and not theirs.
It's not everyone that will get MBBS on a platter of Gold.
Some have to be consistent, remain resolute and preserve.
You know deep down yourself what you want go for it.
And the days you struggled to get hold of your dream will pass away.
Winners never quit, losers do and settle for the less.
It's yours decision to make.
Thank u so much sir.

after too obtain your BDS degree, you can switch to MBBS by undergoing a 1½ year program after which you will be awarded MBBS your BDS will be withdrawn.
On the other hand, switching from MBBS to BDS requires a 3 year dentistry clinical program.

I'm very sure there are Pple that have done this, though I've not met any yet.

If I am correct , u couldnt get mbbs, xo u want solace by going for BDS since it isnt competitive....

U only need to be enlighten.

Dentistry is too good for u to see it as second fiddle to medicine, in fact the only different is that BDS specialise on everything relating to head and neck at undergraduate level while MBBS specialise at residency.

I should av been in 400L BDS, but its not wat I wanted just like I never wanted law or engineering. And it doesn't make law an inferior course.

Go for BDS and love it or hustle for MBBS if u wont be happy.

Hoping to cross back to mbbs might break your heart in the end....

People dont just know that studying dentistry is studying medicine.

Aside O and G and psychatric , no other different.

Mind u, even as an mbbs student, I dont see masef specialising in O and G and psychatric.

All Nigerian public universities are in MESS and Uniabuja is also fully accredited for MBBS. So there you go, your two in one in one school.

Thanks for your reply. UNIABUJA it is then
UNIABUJA started her Medical school in 2005 but till today the school is yet to induct a single Medical Doctor, according to inside source the school was fully accredited by MDCN last year, but i think that fact is still yet to be updated on MDCN website, as UNIABUJA accreditation status still reads 'partial' with a quota of 50.

So i don't how many sets are presently stuck and at which level they are stuck in.

Get your facts right. The first set was inducted late last year. The school is fully accredited.
There are only 2 sets backlog 1 of which will be inducted any moment from April and the other one, December, 2018. After those two sets, there is 1 set for each level.

Ok, thanks but please can you give me an evidence to your first claim? I'd so much appreciate that.
Because being the maiden edition, it's something that should have gone viral like that of most schools.

Good evening doctors in the house. My name is Thelma and I was admitted into combined biological sciences, UNN in December last year. Ever since I was born, my aims and dreams have all been centered on one day becoming a medical doctor but due to my poor performance in jamb, I was given the above course. I desperately wish to apply for change of course in my second year.
Please, I know some of you honorable doctors and medical students entered into the medical school through this medium. Please I need advice on what to expect, especially if you're in UNN or graduated from there.
Am currently borrowing a course called bio 101 and am finding it difficult due to the size of the class. Please if you can recommend a good textbook for me, I'll be totally grateful.
God bless you as you assist me. Please don't ignore, I really need answers. Thank you
