What universities are you looking to apply to in order of preference?

Are you aware you have to come sit for the Post Utme exam?

It's a first having to see that you only have to beat the general cut-off mark and you're as good as admitted. My advice, many things written online are not actually the obtainable standard in real-time Nigeria.

is it still possible for matriculated students of universities to write jamb again...i thought jamb cancelled that...pls someone should help me verify this
For you to make 300+ two years in a row, says you're good enough.
Do not, because of competition, start thinking of low schools.

And don't take heed to anyone that tells you that school na school. That's a blatant lie.
From what you just said, you know for yourself that a little more push in post-ume preparation can give you admission anywhere, and even in the university where the cut-off is 300. Just a little more push.

I hope you're not working...
If you're working (chasing money) and preparing for post-ume, e no go easy ooo.

Those that made good scores in jamb and are working, are advised to leave work for now and focus on post-ume.[/quote
I laugh in Spanish, what if he is like us that hustle for our daily bread, saving money for school, because no sure sponsor....only if you knew

I know. But remember what I said...

When preparing for postume, you need real time for study.
I cannot speak for everyone. I can speak from experience.

Take an example:
You leave for work by 7:30am and return by 6:30pm...
You plan to study but immediately you pick up your books, due to tiredness and the thought for work the next day, you sleep off. While that is going on, there are other admission seekers already in schools that have enrolled for tutorials and are reading everyday just to make sure that they get in.

I can imagine the standpoint of your response.
It is for schools that aren't competitive.
Imagine wanting to study for medicine and searching for daily bread. How will you have time to read and get as high as 290 in postume. How many people are geniuses in Nigeria? It's just a handful bro.

If you want to go to schools like that, go to places like "Udus Sokoto", where students are working, and yet attending school. Try it in competitive universities and get burnt.

And again, I know, because I've been there. You can't give what you don't have.

That's my fear.

But it says on the website that foreigners and Nigerians abroad as well as the visually impaired don't have to sit for post utme, and when we registered at the General Consulate, where we sat for utme, they never once mentioned that we'll sit for the test.

BUK's website is the worst, there is very little information on it.

Here's my candid opinion, to begin with, the Bayero University Kano isn't one of the Higher institutions of learning in Nigeria that do not conduct post utme. So, it would be quite erroneous of one to lay back and not come write their post utme. If one doesn’t, it's tantamount to not even sitting for the UTME.

Be that as it may, universities like those of Maiduguri and Jos do not conduct postutmes. All you need do is pay and apply online uploading necessary credentials and documents when it's time for their virtual screenings.

Why don't you attempt mailing JAMB and the BUK(it might be a futile effort, most of these institutions have mailbags that are in a state of limbo) as regards your cause and it's feasibility.

Kindly quote me when you get any correspondence from either or both of them.
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Tresellea: 2:55am On May 22
You might be right, though I hope you aren't because I might not be able to be in Nigeria on time.
I will try and mail them as you suggested and see what's what.

Thanks.

Alright,my parents want me to change to UNIBEN instead of UI even with a jamb score of 286

Hi, first of all, congratulations on your jamb score. I'm in UnibenMed 100l and I can assure you it's been good so far. Now on your score, it all boils down to your putme score. All you have to do is score above 84+. Yeah it's possible cos I know a person currently in my class who had 279 in jamb and blasted putme scoring 85 which gave him his admission.
Hope you know last year's cutoff was 77 and if you're not from Uniben's catchment, you should target 78+ to be guaranteed admission... Once again congrats and I hope to have you onboard Uniben med school. Have a nice day..

Please I need to know.

How Uniben calculate the aggregate of jamb pume and waec to give admission.

Their were a lot of fluctuations in my jamb center hence I could no do to well so I got 260 but I am confident of doing better in the putme.

So please students of Uniben, what is the formulae for their aggregate score.
I need to know to set a target for my PUME
Agg=77 for last year
Mode of calculation=utme/8+putme/2
I scored 274 in jamb...i picked Unilorin as my first choice, to study Medicine because it's my state of origin, Do i have a high chance of gaining admission for MBBS, or should i consider another University??

Well you do, but it's not that guaranteed
You'll have to consider your o'level results especially the 5 important subject English, mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology. Someone in the admission office once told me they considered distinction A's or A and B or B all through than having C. You can't afford to having more than 2 C's in those subjects though it's not a criteria but they'll considered others with great o'level result first.
Also is the post utme as you'll have to score very well 70 is past mark but you can get well above that
With your jamb score, an excellent o'level and 80%> post utme, you should be considered for merit list.. Note: everything is graded on how others performed so its not guaranteed
Getting admission on average scores will have to deal with how much you know someone 'how long your legs be'. Good luck wink

Well, the one thing I know that people do is apply to different institutions using the different pathways. They do that to up their chances and nullify appearing twice.

Say you got Medicine via UTME and luckily gained admission to the same Medicine via DE in the same school, you would inevitably be appearing twice, you know.

Which of "you" would the school matriculate? "UTME-you" or "DE-you"? This is the same reason why you can't study two courses in the same institution concurrently(even UG and PG).

Your best bet is getting admitted via one channel alone, if you understand me expressly.

If you can rectify this, please do so(change your institution on either of the channels as you deem fit).

Ps: Perhaps there are loop holes, I can't tell. However, this is a different dispensation than Ojerinde's.

Does anyone know if unn wouod give me admission for microbiology
I am thinking of changing to Unilag

It'll be better to change to another medical course. UNN IS TOO COMPETITIVE.. You have 1% chance to get admitted with that score.. U nid a jamb score of 280+ to get a higher chance of admission...
