Clemzy16: Propangada! Propangada! Propangada! All na wash! Policies like this cannot even work in other developed countries, not to talk of Nigeria. Noise polution ko! Noise polution ni! Mcheew..

Oga, which country have you ever been to all your life? And here you are ignorantly saying "Policies like this cannot even work in other developed countries". If you don’t know something, you better ask questions. Even go to Benin Republic over there and you will not hear noise from all these useless laud speakers. What is not good is NOT good, so let everybody obey the law. Surprisingly, neither the Bible nor the Quran support this noise making yet our "religious leaders" do it with impunity because they know we are too lazy to read & understands the holy books and too gullible to challenge them and call them to order.

Olodostein: Subscribing. This is a great development.

I hope they stick to it. The environment should and must be protected.

This is the problem with making finished goods. Those factories being built are bad for the environment due to waste. So if Africa "modernizes" then there may be more waste and a bad environment. Look at how beijing is so polluted. Yes they are rich but is it worth it if they can't live there anymore due to smog in 30 years?

This is why we need to develop sustainably... What good is it building unregulated factories in every nook and crannies, if we can't breath the air in our environs and scared to drink the water or food from our rivers and soil ?

And we know how bad we lack maintenance culture in Nigeria and Africa at large....our people need to be elightened that quality of life trumps quantity of life. Life in less popular places like scandanavian countries, New zealand is long and satisfying than in places that like to showcase themselves as the "cradle of modern industralization", that have polluted the environment and pushing our biodiversity to extinction.

Ater doing research and reading materials on sustainable development and green economy in all facets of human activities, I have come to the understanding that it answers many questions that we have been asking.... This is particularly good for Nigeria and Africa because it emphasizes the need to use local materials in production; to produce quality goods that can be reused and recycled and to minimize the constant exploitation of natural resources in making new products ALL the time.... This will challenge the philosophy of extreeme materialism that people like to build their dignity on to the detriment of mother nature and the common man.

Local cultures and languages will be protected as it is the core of sustainability. A lot of consciencious people are working and propagating this idea in the West . And do you know the biggest opponents to this nature oriented philosophy? The NeoConservatives.

Why? Because they are the ones profitng most from unconsciencious and utter capitalism. This is why they are blocking legislations that goes against their interest. Moreover , since Nigerians and other Africans indeed are perfectionists in following the foot steps of their NeoCon masters, then the most beautiful and natural continent on the face of the Earth may become barrren and ever thirsty in years to come if we look the other way.
