Am i suprised? Nah! A leopard can never change its spots.
Why wont he just hold a meeting with the stakeholders, affected indigens and the senate so as to make clear his stand with solid reasons b4 telling the world. He had to jet off to New york to tell the whole world that hes a coward. GEJ, cowardice begins at home, inform the senate and all involved parties of ur stand b4 going to the public. You made them all look like fools with all their efforts so far.

PROUD-IGBO:
I hope all these ethnicities of old eastern region can now see how they've been used as pawns in the chess game that is Nigerian ethno/religious politics, and then dumped?.....as if Obasanjo would sign over Otta to another country just b'cos the ICJ said so; an ICJ whose rulings have been and continue to be ignored by world powers if it goes against their strategic national interests.

Does anyone really think Bakassi would be in the grubby hands of the Camerounians if there had been an independent Biafran (or whatever name you wanna call it) nation?; they would have had a fight on their hands, that's for sure; can you imagine someone with the fighting spirit of Ojukwu being told to hand over a potion of Biafran territory to another country b'cos of some purported colonial agreements (that didn't include the owners of the land)?.....he'd probably tell them all to fuc/koff!!!

it is on record that countries like the USA, China, France and many others in the past had veto the judgements of the ICJ when they disagree with it, even though judgement may be awarded rightly. Now we it is a pure fact that Bakassi belong to Nigeria, but the FGN is fearful to take what actually belong to them. big shame on the FGN if they didnt appeal this judgement before it expires!!!!!

GEJ is not the leader Nigeria deserves. Iranian president was bold and loud with his country's plan of uranium enrichment, the world power cannot do anything to Iran, at worst, they will resort to persuasion and not force. but here is ours fidgeting in appealing a court ruling affecting his region. mtcheeeew

This is what we get when we allow an incompetent Man to lead a nation like ours.

Like someone rightly said, i 'm not surprised too. His antecedent speaks ahead of him.

The clueless retardeen at his best. Would he have said this if it was Otuoke that was given away. So much for having your 'brother' in Aso rock. This is going to count against him in the elections, Obama would never cede US land to any country, ICJ or not. The puppet we call a president is just an oversized vegetable.

Let us remove sentiments here. That land truely belongs to Cameroon. Gowon signed an agreement wit dem to take d land in order to prevent d Igbo's 4rm bringin arms during d war 4rm Gabon. Agreement must be kept. Its jux unfortunate dat d effect wil tel on d indigenes. Gowon should be made 2 pay 4 dis! Wen a leader lacks vision, he pays dearly in future. Its a pity!

There is something fishy about the Bakassi case, what about the fresh facts that prof. Ofonagoro claims to be in his possession?, now we have barely 2 weeks before the 10yr period of re-opening the case ellapses, as at when the NBA sent a communique to Federal government to reopen the case, we had six weeks, nothing has been done since then despite the 'fresh facts' claims, and from GEJ's statement, there seem to be no hope of re-opening. From Gowon to OBJ to GEJ, i think there is something we Nigerians do not know about the Bakassi case, that is the conspiracy.

Abegi, forget this Bakasi issue. Even if they revisit and Nigeria wins it back, it will only enrich the pockets of a few individuals at the top. The common man won't benefit.

We shouldn't really blame GEJ, cos i think he is just a figure head in this, like i earlier stated, there is something fishy about the case, remember Bakassi was ceded during OBJ's goverment, there is something that has been passing on from Gowon's to OBJ's and finally down to GEJ, that is the conspiracy we(Nigerians) do not know about.

I think Jonatha is killing dis country slowly. Many said because OBJ was nt 4rm d west dat ws y u lodged am appeal. Wat abt nw, Jonatha is 4rm d south south nd bakassi is in d south south, logically u wil expect him 2 hv make nd c hw it wil go. I am indeed nt hapi wit dis Jonatha, anyway May God help us all.

safarigirl: Another retardeen on the loose. The same Ghana that acted as if Jesus was coming when Obama visited? Ha! I laugh in Ashanti.
Obama is the president of the most powerful nation in the history of this Universe! He also happens to be of African decent so, people were naturally excited that he chose to come to Ghana on his first trip to Sub-Saharan Africa.

That is now history which will forever be written there for 1000 years! Good history not the type the Yorobbers(Yoruba), Ignoble's(Igbo), Fulani's(Fulani), Howsads(Hausa's) and other criminals are creating for the Failed state of Nigeria now under Imperial Cameroonian rule!!!!!!

What will happen if we ask the ICJ to simply Ffuck off undecided undecided
How many countries especially from the developed world obey the ICJ itself.
Those supporting this should get to Bakassi and see what goes on there. The people should be the key factor here.

How about GEJ showin courage &liaiasing wit NBA 2present a beta case? So he wants 2waste d 'u-can-reopen-ur-case-afta-10-years' clause? Who is he tryyin 2impress? USA dat doesnt abide by evry ICJ rulin &isnt really bothered about his speech @d UN assembly? By dis gaffe, GEJ has effectivly killed d case for Nigeria &evry new evidence. Future presidents wil hold him responsible for dis blunder. Does he not hav bold &honest advisers? He decided 2d biggest global gatherin 2put a nail in d coffin of his own country's case. PITY!

The people of Bakkasi should be let alone to form their own republic because nigeria is not doing enough to help them from the different evil the cameroon people are doing to them. E.g rape of their women and children also killings. This issuse is very serious and God is not happy on it.

Yes OBJ ceded it but we have a new leader who has the ultimate power to appeal and who knows gets a favorable response. He simply doesnt want to do it. isee no conspiracy here.

All who refer to the Biafra issue in relation to Bakassi, please be informed that this did not feature at all in the ICJ ruling. The instrument employed for the judgment was the Anglo-German treaty of 1913, which was never ratified by England as Germany fell from world power status shortly after that time. Based on this President Goodluck should reopen the case at the Hague. If the ruling goes through, Nigeria loses the Cross River water channel to Cameroon.

Exactly. There will be more blame on him than OBJ himself who initiated it. Now is the time to correct past ills and not to consolidate on it.

Besides, this will affect the outcome of the other boundary disputes between Nigeria and Cameroon, running from Adamawa to Obudu hill ranges, right down to further whittling of the Calabar zone.

BTW, why do most Ghanaians feels so much inferiority complex beside Nigeria? Cos dats wat all dis boils down to in psychology. Always lookin 4opportunity 2bellitle ur big broda, so u can illusinarily feel a little taller. In spite of our slight challenges, is it our fault we're heads &shoulders above dem? Nature isn't alwys fair &u shuld stop fightin it. It's like Cuba alwys futilely tryin 2square up 2d USA
