shymexx: These clowns stay writing 'pieces' when the country is in abyss...

Are there no activists in Nigeria?? If African Americans were writing 'pieces' during Jim Crow laws and civil rights movement - there would still be segregation in America... Fight for your country and your future, and stop writing nonsense... We know you can write, we need action... Get busy, or shut the fvck up...

Go hard, or go home.. undecided

Nigerian artists are clowns... These fools sound the same way, I can't even differentiate one from the other, yet they stay writing 'pieces' every time... Bunch of untalented dolts...

America had Public Enemy 'fighting the power'; Tupac's 'White man's world'; NWA's 'Fvck the police' etc... Even black people in UK had Brixton riots and Tottenham riots forcing the government to implement policies favouring them...

Nigerians artist just sit there and write rubbish 'pieces' all the damn time like fools... Who's going to save Nigeria, if the youths are docile

Burn the bytch down and effect a change, or shut the fvck up... Military mindset! - save Nigeria!!

They're scared of death, but thousands stay dying everyday... I hate the way things are in that country, truss bruddah...

Our artistes play it safe; their eyes always set on getting contracted to perform at political events or the birthday bash of some thief who calls himself, our leader.
If only they could dedicate a fraction of the time spent producing 'noise' to fight against injustice, corruption, and bad leadership, maybe their docile fans can join in it.
MI might have done well but he hasn't done well enough.
He should mobilize his mates who share same amount of influence, and maybe, just maybe (coz there's always the Nigerian version of everything), something good will spring out of it.
What we have seen today from Mubi and Aluu are products of a rotten society,a totally messed up system where NOBODY is held responsible. We're just a "dead" people!

And to think that the youths are "dead" also is even more disheartening.

MI was kind enough to have dedicated "all of 10 seconds" of thought to it! He even wondered "briefly"!!!

Most people, me including, probably spent a couple of minutes after watching the video, with our hearts in our mouths and our eyes agape whilst screaming silently "OMG, how could this have happened"

In MI's case, he dedicated "all of 10 seconds".

10 seconds!..after which life went on as usual. I woke up this morning not remembering how 4 young boys were beaten, and forced to watch their death coming in a most gruesome manner in the hands of a mob who are so eager to see their flesh roast up in flames. Their human flesh roast up in flames!

Perhaps I'd take a different stance from MI on this. The hope was never the worst part of it all! The lack of humane feeling is!

A corpse they say, is just a corpse until that corpse is your pops! While the families of these boys will have to go on with the rest of their lives with the realization of how the lives of the people they cared for came to an end, MI and I (and perhaps many others) have simply spared '10 seconds shedding a tear' and then moved on with our lives only with an occasional reference to the incidence and some faith that Justice will be served.

In a much civilised environment, the public will be outraged by this singular act of savagery, so much so it may threaten the stability of the government of the day. People wouldn't just sit back and wonder...and curse...and hope...and pray...and write fancy notes and then move on with lives. In those communities i described, there's a genuine humane feeling, borne out of the realization of the knowledge that we all share a common heartbeat.

The story of April a girl of 4 who went missing in the UK comes to mind. The immediate community reaction was forceful, hopeful, urgent and pronounced with hundreds of people volunteering to help the police in their search. This is a community where true humane feelings are found in the minds of people. In my own country, where four men were beaten to a pulp and burnt to death by their own friends, people simply dedicate "10 seconds of full thought"...then curse...then wonder...then hope...then pray...then life simply returns to normal!

#ashamedtobeNigerian!

My dear I'm still surprised on how some people are analysing the 10 seconds phrase, even a supposed medical doctor in the making couldn't look beyond letters and numbers, ha na wa o shocked.
How possible is it that someone who gave just that little time to this issue could come up with such a breathtaking piece? MI probably had a sleepless night or two before putting that piece together, its really a pity how myopic some people can be. Smh. sad

Orblonde: Nice one MI but can you and your fellow artists start doing political songs that identify with the suffering of the masses and also taget our civilian rulers who are corrupt to the point that it is now evil. They are the ones that keep the people in the mess. I think that will be a better sevice to society than those Indecency lyric that Nigerian artist like you are obsessed with. Just a thought.
If you listened to his last album, you would know that he dedicated a couple of songs for what you are asking for...

The hope is the worst part of it.

The way they lay there, beaten and broken, battered and bruised. Knowing their end had come for certain. Knowing that the crowd meant to see this through to the end. And yet, in the midst of all this certainty, in some small corner of their hearts, hoping. That something would happen, some miracle perhaps.

I am speaking of course, of the #Aluu4, students of University of Port

UNIPORT FOUR: “He was beaten beyond repair, we’ve buried him in the forest” – Elkanah’s Family 08.10.2012, 14:45 Local

The coverage of the brutality and viscous violence endured by Ugonna, Llyod, Elkannah and Chidiaka- all students of the University of Port Harcourt- has reached a crescendo with people from all walks of life condemning the savage brutality that led to their deaths.

Cruise Nigeria has been keeping tabs on the aftermath of the barbaric act and has spoken to a family member of Elkannah Tekena who explained how still shocked and horrified the entire family is.

The family member for has asked us not to reveal her identity, revealed that Elkannah was buried two days ago after extensive stitches to his burnt and severely battered body.

"Yes, he's been buried." The family member confirmed, "We recovered his body and we stitched it the best we could… It's shocking the amount of brutality he and those boys endured. His body was beaten beyond repair, but yes, we've buried him."

When asked about details of the burial, the source within the family continued, "We're from Kalio Ama in Okirika Local Government Area, and in our custom, if you have endured the brutality, injuries and violence Elkannah endured, your body cannot be buried in town. So our 19-yr old boy was taken across and deep into the forest to be buried."

The family source earlier stated that the family was still in shock and profound bewilderment after Elkannah and the three other boys were beaten to death and burnt by indigenes of Aluu community.

Murder Of 4 UNIPORT Students: An Exclusive Story Behind Their Death 08.10.2012, 13:12 Local The brutal murder of the Four students of the University of Port Harcourt has become a major source of worry to many Nigerians who feel that human lives have no value as far as the country is concerned.

Since the incident, many people have advocated for the immediate arrest of those behind the heinous act and possibly charge them if found guilty. While some have continued to advocate for death sentence, others advocate for life imprisonment.

However, Daily Post investigation reveals that none of the four murdered students was involved in robbery or any kind of pilfering. Our correspondent spoke with an anonymous colleague of the late Llyod and Ugo whom he said were aspiring musicians and his colleagues.

It was gathered from the source that Ugo and Lloyd were cousins. Someone was indebted to Ugo around the community and had vowed not to pay. Ugo who was popularly known as Tipsy had gone to meet with a fearless University guy (name-withheld) to help them track the debtor who had been on the run. The guy who was feared by many in the school had accepted to accompany his friends to get the debtor tracked down and get his own percentage of the money. They were joined by their room mate, Chidiaka. On their way to the place, they met one of their friends, Tekena, who knew nothing about the plan, and he joined, just for the hype as it's normal with young boys of juvenile age.

They were actually 5 that got to the debtor's compound. Unknown to the other four, the "Confra" guy who was contracted to intimidate the debtor just to get the money paid went with a gun .When they got to the guy's house around 12am, fight ensued, as the debtor confronted them. A next door neighbour, a woman started shouting on top of her voice, that they were thieves, attracting other bad boys around the areas, whom they said were mainly "vickins", rival cult group of the one on contract. They swung into action by tipping the vigilantee who confronted the boys, referring to them as thieves. At the process of beating the boys, and while they were trying to explain, the fifth 'guy',the cultist brought out his gun to scare the people, and he escaped, leaving the rest four at the mercy of the villagers.

The explanation they tried to give fell on the community's deaf ears as the people insisted that they must be killed. Another close friend of Ugo and Lloyd had reacted by calling on the president to take action against those behind the murder of the four students. The young man who had pleaded that his identity be kept secret said: "Mr President those 4 boys who were killed at Aluu near Uniport were my young friends. I was their mentor. Two of them were promising rappers and singers. I am forwarding their work ironically titled "ain't no love in the city".

This story got to dailypost as an eyewitness account from the 5th boy who escaped. He narrated this to Ugo and Lloyd's friend who has pleaded that his identity be kept secret.

Murder Of Uniport Students: Chief, 12 Others Arrested 08.10.2012, 7:28 Local

A Chief in Omokere Aluu community and 12 others have been arrested in connection with the killing of four students of University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, last Friday over robbery allegation.

The students were burnt in Omokere Aluu by some irate youths for allegedly stealing blackberry phones and laptops.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ben Ugwuegbulam, in a statement, said those arrested would be thoroughly quizzed over the incident.

The Police image maker was silent on whether the deceased students were robbery suspects or not, but appealed to their parents and students of the University not to take the laws into their hands as a result of the killings, and condemned the killing of the students.

He said: "Rivers State Police Command unequivocally condemns the gruesome killing of four UniPort students on October 5, by irate mob from Aluu community.

"The command sympathises with the families of the slain students and also appeals to them not to take the laws into their hands. Students of the university are urged not to engage in any reprisal attack as such could lead to chaos and anarchy.

"The command has commenced investigation into the incident.
