Why should you say funny things? Methinks labour is a simple thing. Just go in and drop the baby.

I speak as a witness, i was actually in d labour room with my elder sister and her hubby too........
The nurses advised one of us should rub her waist wheneva d contractions came but as a baby my sis was she wanted us to rub her waste and feet, so i took to rubn d waste while the hubby rubbed d feet. So along the line, what i heard was a big Kpa! (punch) on the hubbys cheek; RUb my feet!

When I was having my first baby, I was more worried about my husband than I was about myself, he was hysterical, i was calm, and he kept getting worked up because I was so calm, lol, cultural differences, I kept saying "sweety, calm down" and he was saying "dont tell me to be calm". grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin, reverse labour. My family members teased him to no end, crying louder than the bereaved

When i was done, come and see laugh, eehn was wondering if i could say such horrible thing. But 4 d subsequent labours, experience helped, i was just calling/saying "JESUS! JEESUS! HELP ME OH JESUS!

I remember when my aunt was in labour the first time, her hubby was late and she said "Where is that useless man? He's the one that put me in this condition"

And when he got there and she was pushing, she cried out, "I will not do it again o, please, after this one, I will not do it again" and hubby laughed and replied, "No problem, we won't do it again"

In our former house, a private hospital was our neighbor so we often overhear what goes down there like the cries when someone dies, the screams of joy after a safe delivery etc.
One early morning around 2 am or so, from my sleep I heard a woman yelling at the top of her voice, the shout was too much so many people woke up, she was saying " Mummy please forgive me for all I've done to you,is this what you went through? Chei chi mu o biko nu ooo" small time she will start again in a sing-like tone "Let that man not come near me o, I will kill him oo, he's a wicked man, look at what he's done to me, ewoo who sent me oo" etc, most of these she said in igbo, she kept shouting after taking few minutes breaks, mehn I had to go back to bed, in the morning we learnt she had twins.

My neighbour who's a nurse once told me that one loud-mouthed Yoruba woman cursed her child(?) for bringing her so much pain during labour - Ko ni da fun iya e, iwoo omo buruku yi. That's what she shouted angrily at her child.
