I don't know a lot about the Koran but i know it is a sin to drink anything alcoholic and most Muslims also frown vehemently on this. In my journey across west Africa i realize Muslims smoke soo publicly and i am yet to hear an Islamic scholar speaking against the act. if you Travel to Mali and Senegal you will notice smoking is just normal like how we take in water. most adults and sometimes minors below 15 years smoke and these are mostly the Muslims. Just wanna find out from my Muslim friends is smoking also prohibited in the religion and why don't they speak vehemently against it like alcohol?

Sure, Smoking in islam is a sin as alcohol is. Causing Harm to ONEself is a sin in islam which is what smoking does. Buh cant b compared wit alcohol. smoking is causing harm to yourself and people around you. it is bad. i have listened to people say it is as bad as suicide is but i dont think it takes your reasoning like drinking does except you smoke weed......its still smoking anyway.

not realy, there are clear verses of d Quran n practice of d holy prophet(pbuh) dat warns against alcohol unlike smoking, buh dey are also verses of d quran dat makes it clear smoking isn't an exception..d quran enjoy muslims to do what is gud n refrain from evil/harming oneself or odas etc tis is d bases y smoking is a sin.... my dear it is a sin acording to d Quran ..,islam is not a religion dat is practiced by just tinking, it got d Quran to guilde in ALL matters n bcus a lot of muslims do it dosnt make it sinless/aceptable

my brother you are right. my concern as a muslim is if it is true that a girl is given 60 lashes for talking to a guy, a furnicator was stonned to death.... i dont know why these punishments were given but i know that a furnicator aught to be given 100 lashes except the report was a false one (God knows best and may he forgive us for our errors). should there not be a punishment for smoking in public as others are endangered.......why is there punishment for drinking like in sharia states in the north?........i cannot say but sincerity of our leaders of paramount in islam thats why it has its rewards in islam-remember the hadith about a leader!

Muslims grade sins and that is how it should be
Even christians have been reacting to the outrageous acts of Boko Haram in a manner that they consider a more serious sin than fighting in public or embezzling pubic funds
While christians can still live with a christian who divorces his spouse or embezzles public fund, I am not sure they will take same attitude to a christian who worships idols part of the time
