nex: Well, I've met with the organizer of the South South Music Awards once, that's Mr Andy Bello. He explained to me that the awards are for non-indigenous artists whose music had an appreciable impact on the South-South music scene, and indigenous artists whose music made the most impact within, and outside the South-South region of Nigeria.

They are not necessarily attempting to award the best music in Nigeria. They are region-specific.
