Maxymilliano:

Bros, let's take this thing ome at a time, I ain't the president spokeman but just a Nigerian who feel things should be looked at dispassionately before apportioning blame but nonetheless, I'll try and attempt some of your poser.

Deregulation is the same thinf as liberalization and government will have no option but to hands totally from the downstream and allow the invisible force of demand and supply to have its course.

Since Nigeria is imported depwndent, we'll be subjected to the vagaries in the international oil market. The primary objectives of the Sure-P is to minimize the hardship experience by the citizens to the barest minimum till things will be sorted out.

You talked of inflationary rates that may happened on the economy in the event of the total deregulation of the downstream, but as an economist myself, there are many factors that determines inflationary trends and exchange rates.

We are a consuming nation, we consumed what we don't produce and this is putting pressures on the naira. It is the duty of the CBN Governor to come up with proven policies to ensure the current inflationary trend did not spiral out of control, and to ensure it is contained effectively.

For the pipelin vandalization you broached, there is a limit to what the government can do if we the citizens are bent on making money at all cost, even risking our lives.

Most of the pipelines we have now were laid in the 70s and 80s when most of the areas weren't developed. Let me cast your mind back to what happened in Arepo area of Ogun State where NNPC pipelines was delibrately vandalised, this resulted into a conflagration that was later contained but do you know that since that incident happened, attempts by NNPC to fix the vandalised pipelines was rebuff?.

Illegal bunkering is another hydra headed monster that is not easy to contain, I can tell you more about this if you will be interested.
Max, I sincerely appreciate your effort and we have both agreed that commercialisation or liberalisation is the way forward but our sole disagreement is the "timing". The government does not enjoy enormous goodwill from Nigerians at the moment, it will be disastrous if they decide to withdraw subsidies when the effects of the SURE-P palliatives have not been felt by Nigerians. The government should set for itself a time limit, put the necessary infrastructures on ground, set up a workable template and show Nigerians how it has judiciously utilised the price differential of N32 and eventually can phase out subsidy in bits before commencement of deregulation
I am surely interested in further discussions especially the illegal bunkering

Everything has been planned.all the social media spokepersons are set.bc u are paid to spread propaganda,u think u'll b able to handle the ripple effects.we may end up wth a nation u'll have money but u're scared of spending it.i foresee the astromical rise of crime.the same people who say we are not ripe for state police believe we are ripe for deregulation.assuming we deregulate, our own price will not follow international price.when the price is high, our marketers will hoard the products so they can make more money from few sells.they will import when international price falls.people believe it will encourage investors.WRONG.westerners dont rush into investments.they do feasibility study.shell built d 1st local refinery in PH and it was nationalized.IOC's produce crude in hostile terrains, yet it is stolen via pipeline.now u want them to build local refineries inland so that the their products will b stolen.it is by far cheaper to drill inland(onshore)than deep water(offshore)yet most IOC's prefer offshore.why?they know that gives them better protection 4rm oil thieves.just look at orient petroleum that drilled inland:kogi, enugu, delta, edo now clain ownership of the oil blocks.i hope they will survive what the future holds 4 them.as for foriegn investors,i doubt if any serious foreigner will build any refinery.importation continues.energy sector is not a competitive market bc other sectors depend on it.u will not hear/see any advert of a fuel station(s) on the radio/tv as u hear/see those of telecoms(a competitive market)...but they keep selling bc they dont need adverts to sell.why?u need them more than they need u.i'll even support the direct sell of crude at international price to those that can refine it.if the govt were sincere, why not compress and sell LPG ,that is currently being flared,so that we can import cars that can run on LPG.LPG is even a better fuel compared to the low octane number petrol marketers import for us.DEREGULATION IS NOT THE ANSWER TO THE NIGERIAN ENERGY INSECURITY.i call ôn my fellow scientists/engineers to rise up.it's time to innovate for a low cost alternative to fossile fuel.that is the only solution to nigerian energy security.as for me i have lost faith in nigerian energy several years ago when my mum died while we were looking for a place to a cool blood, which the doctor wanted to tranfuse to my mum.for those who are paid by FG to spread propaganda on social websites i dont envy u,i pity u.u will be used and dumped.dear comrades, think carefully b4 u support deregulation.dont support the beginning of what u cant end.wth time our capitalist pastors will start importing petroleum products.i suspect this bc wth the exception of pastor tunde bakare,fr mbaka and rt rev akiola all our pastors have been quiet concerning deregulation/subsidy removal.even one of our jet age pastors(CAN president pastor ayo oritsejiafor)claimed last year that christians will support subsidy removal...as if christians have invented machines that run on water.finally,i expect the worst and hope for the best.God almighty protect us from our greatest enemies(our black leaders).though i fear we may have to fight for our existence if we must continue to live in this expression called NIGERIA!God save your children.

Abacha increased fuel price and honestly told us it was a fuel tax and showed us what he was doing with the revenue realised from the price increase. He never called it subsidy removal and never pretended that fuel was subsidised.

Abacha basically funded the much heralded PTF from just the N5-7 increase in fuel prices .

Obasanjo closed the PTF never demonstrated what he used the revenue he realised to do and dishonestly called the price hikes , subsidy removal (nobody can recall the point in history that fuel was ever subsidised. Obj called fuel price hikes subsidy removal as subsidy removal implies you are simply withdrawing a gift you had given and such you do not need to justify what you do with the savings you make from the removal of subsidy.

Obasanjo increased fuel prices by N50 and never set up anything like the PTF or made any attempt to show what the extra revenue realised was spent on. GEJ is simply continuing with Obasanjo's method of cheating the Nigerian masses.

Thanks for the time bro, glad to know we both have our areas of convergent and divergent, i don't really dwell much on speculations but let's wait and see how the drama unfold as the government go about subsidy removal.

Illegal bunkering is a lucrative trade in Nigeria, one of the grouse i have against the government is the amnesty progmamme for the so called Niger Delta militants, those guys are oil bunkers masquerading as militants, they only resort to resource control agitation when the noose was getting tighter for their trade to survive. Guys like Ateke Tom, Tompolo, Asari and the late Soboma George made lots of money from illegal bunkering and i was quite dishearten to know that this same people are been compensated in the name of amnesty. There is a whole lots behind this though but let's leave it at this.

The bank brought a buyer but Ifeanyi did not allow the transaction to take place. He said the bank should let him sell the product and put the money in the bank. It took him almost three weeks to sell a cargo the bank would have sold in one week. The money was put in the bank and the bank paid the other principal. While this was ongoing, suddenly N5.4 billion dropped into the account from the SDN (= subsidy) which is the sovereign debt note of this consignment as if to say the consignment came. Aig said: ‘What!? This consignment didn’t come and this man claimed SDN on it? Do you know this is fraud and you are stealing money from the Federal Government (= the poor)?

from Cosmos Maduka vs Ifeanyi Ubah

http://www.nigeriavillagesquare.com/newsflash/how-ifeanyi-ubah-swindled-me-of-n21bn-cosmas-maduka.html

Subsidy is enriches the rich not the poor, and to keep this money flowing, they need the status quo, and would not allow the down stream sector in Nigeria to develop.

NLC should stop lying to Nigerians, and Nigerians should not allow themselves to be lied to. What role did NLC play when government refused to pay subsidy for unproven importation of products? did NLC not threaten to go on strike unless government pay the fraudulent claims?

In my Opinion, NLC's leadership is conniving with the dubious marketers taking bribes to instigate gullible Nigerians to the street.

When the time comes, Nigerians will decide what to do without NLC involvement.

Sincere 9gerian: I made one observation so far from comments made so far. Some silly northerners are demanding for military coup. This demand is MOST SILLY, most DEVILISH and WICKED. What these WICKED few expect is one almajiri solder to seize power in Aso Rock and replace all the 36 state governors with Almajiri solders and share the Niger delta and Igbo petrol DOLLARS as they deem fit. This ATROCITY will be carried out under guise of removing a 'corrupt' govt. How will that be different from the MISTAKES of the 1966( the coups and counter coup that led to civil war) or the STUPID 1983 coup? Also some FOOLS think we dont have memory. We remember that military leaders of the past also increased fuel price, all of them, from Gowon to Abacha. In fact, Abacha increased fuel price from N5 per litre to N11 per litre and appointed another Almajiri (Buhari) to manage the savings from that increase. These are FACTS and FACTS ARE SACRED. When therefore did increament in fuel price become a reason to TOPPLE a govt? Is it because a Niger Delta man is in power?

Ogogoro drinker did not keep to his promises and his corruption far surpasses that of all the almajiris you mentioned. Now, let's see how d ogogoro drinker will come back in 2015 if d almajiris refuse to vote him during the primary convention. Obviously you did not think in that line when you ate running your mouth.

People are still smarting from the effects of the last protest.

Bakare and odumakin will not run out food to eat.
Banky w and his bald head will definitely not run out of cash.
If it gets too bad he'll hop on the next available flight to America.

Guys, give this a hard long thought
