Sincere 9gerian: The national assembly is an independent arm of govt, the presidency have nothing to do with the outcome of their committee report. The truth of the matter is that the president has been having it ROUGH with the house of reps. The house of reps has the CAPABILITY to FRUSTRATE the executive,eg they may stall the budget, block crucial bills, block the proposed borrowing plan, etc. In recognition of this UNDENIABLE fact, it is only SENSIBLE for the president to thread softly. What will it profit GEJ if he puts Farouk to jail now and the house of reps in turn send his policies and programmes to jail too? First is that the country as a whole will lose and GEJ himself will be frustrated. It is lose, lose situation for all. Only MISCHIEF MAKERS like @Gbawe..,would rejoice over such situation and turn around to blame the president for doing NOTHING. For me in particular, putting Farouk in prison will not give me a 2nd Niger bridge. And if not putting Farouk in prison for now, will give me a 2nd Niger bridge, then I dont mind. Whether we like it or not, Farouk Lawan has been NAMED AND SHAMED and his political career TRUNCATED. If those who stole in the past were NAMED AND SHAMED, perhaps corruption would have reduced by now. The president is a sensible and strategic person and the sensible thing to do for NOW that his relationship with the house of reps is shaky is to put the Farouk case in the COOLER for now. Perhaps when he gets a better hold on the house of reps or in a much stronger position, he may then prosecute Farouk. This is being REALISTIC
The truth of the matter is that manner people on this platform don't even know anything abt the govt...it's so sad.

filcast:
The Ethics Committee of the Federal House of Representatives as reported earlier Cleared Hon. Farouk Lawan of the bribery allegation.

This development clear the air about public speculation that Hon Farouk properly shared the bribe money with his colleagues.
Lawan Farouk accepted in public that he received the bribe of $620,000 and there is no dispute about this fact.
The question is, have Hon Lawan Farouk returned the said money back to the Police as demanded.

We are still expecting the National Assembly, especially the Federal House of Representative to explain to Nigerians the basis they used to clear Farouk of the bribery allegation, an offence he NEVER denied.

The House of Representative have shown their real colour in the fight against Corruption.
The Legislatures have not find it necessary to make corruption in Nigeria a history and unattractive by introducing laws with stiffer penalties, like life imprisonment or death sentence.

It is a shame that these Lawmakers are priding over their continual dragging Nigeria's name to the Mud.

Democracy is too advanced for a society full of illiterates and savages like our's. The only problem with the military is that they might also get corrupted after getting there. I think the situation is just hopeless. The only way out is if all of us will agree and begin to call corrupt people thieves in the public, in the church, at mosque, at the market, on television and everywhere. That's the only way

This democracy is not working. We have lost respect all over the world, that's why a country like Bostwana will deport Nigeria from their country.

We should change this name.Military intervation will be the only option to wipe out this criminal from the surface of the earth.

We should change this name.

Don't even think of that, was it not the military regime of babangida that legalise corruption and made it our national culture.and it was the same military that bred this present democracy.our best choice now is mass revolution if we really want to be free.

Revolution will never work. Nigeria is divided into ethnic groups and Regions. South South people will never support the move. The only solution is to allow the regions to go their way. Nigeria is a doomed country.

We are not ment to be one country.

Puntae: It's really a shame that NASS have resulted to habouring and sheltering criminals... This is a show of extreme shame!
A public acceptance to a crime by the criminal who now is term a hero... Oh NASS, your acts of decay and incompetence you exhibit and I pray it burns before long...

The arm of govt that have been abused, marginalised and disrespected by Nigerians mostly is the NASS. it is the heart of any democracy. We abuse them, see them as crooks but have never asked the executives that spends the money of the country any how. It unfortunate that most of our youths reason in a different manner.
1. Pls who among us have watched the claimed video
2. Why have EFCC not made a substantial case against him
3. Why will the accompli release the audio and not the so called SSS or police
4. Why wait till after the report was presented before picking him up.
5. Or the same person doctored Ribadu's report that is similar to Farouk report.

The most neglected arm of govt in Nigeria is the Legislature. During military govt we have executives and judiciary but no legislature. Thats why we dont appreciate them Yes they might have their bad past but they have not harm nigeria 1% of what the executives or the Judiciaries have done to Nigeria.

Your rudimentary and stoic defense of the indefensible has destroyed your ability to reason on behalf of those who matter most - the people.
The success that GEJ is looking for will never come to him as long as he acts scared when he is supposed to take action on behalf of the people, yet declares "I am battle-ready" when his action is guaranteed to inflict maximum pain on those same people.

I'll leave you to ponder how such bi-polarism at the topmost level of governance could produce a situation where a self-confessed bribe-demander and -taker could be left off the hook.

henrysam:
What concern GEJ about this. Have you forgotten what is called Principle of separation of powers. What do you expect GEJ to do put Facroock in prison without due process and its people like you that will tag him as autocratic. You just can't hide your hatred for GEJ and I wonder how far you want to go with this behaviour.

Super1759: Gej,is trying so hard to fight corruption. One of the surest way is getting rid of those crooks.

Are people really this daft? GEJ fighting corruption? Are you living on another planet? GEJ is ten the thief those guys are. He is probably the President with the most ever corrupt administration in Nigeria.

Contrary to some opinions, the reason GEJ cannot fight corruption is not because he is weak, it is because he is too corrupt.
