As shallow minded as you are, you silly mind did not tell you that everybody does not do the same thing at the same time. While the allocation of Imo state is far bigger than that of Enugu, have you taken out time to see that Enugu is far more better than Owerri?

safarigirl: better to owe a bunch of corrupt civil servants with old, overworked brains, than prevent the improvement of fresh minds. It's a smart move, get as much youths into the state with cheaper education as bait, create an environment they would find irresistible, give the best minds jobs when they graduate, and watch your state flourish. It's the same tactic the US applied and countries like Ukraine and Ghana, where Nigerians are running to, are presently applying, though an upgrade of the schools would have made the plan foolproof. Still, Rochas is thinking smart.
As long as he doesn't owe salaries or makes up wt increased subventions to d schools,am ok with it.U shd not 4get dat if d fees reduce,d schools to kp up wt d minimum standards dey av now av to make up d funds frm somewhere, dis time frm d govt being d only source. What pple dat site free education in developed climes fail 2 realise is dat other sources of revenue where created by those institutions or d govt bc running an average standard tertiary institution,as much as pple wud want to ignore it,takes a lot of funding

You need to take it easy because this Governor has just decided not to steal public funds like other governors in our country. So lets appreciate him for helping the students in imo state as u and i know another governor might have done the opposite of this and then nothing will be improved in the schools..

God bless u 4 reasoning different, after cutting it to 50% it still land to 90-100k. Politics. Beside there is nothing like free education in imo state tertiary institution. Infect let me clarify some pple here. After u were given a cheque of 100k as an annual allowance. U need to go and collect extra 20k 4rm ur parents making it 120k and pay it to ur skol bursary.

But you are collecting the 100K cheque at all. why can't some poeple be objective? when we went to school, nobody subsidised our tuition. If Rochas pays 83.3% of your tuition , its enough reason to commend him, lets be honest.

@sirugos. . . Bro. I am a student of this Institution, I know everything. People just read paper, watch news and then conclude.

Let me break it down for those shouting about Rochas being the best.

If given admission today in IMSU as a fresher, you are expected to pay;

Acceptance fee 70,000
School fees 120,000 and 150,000 for non-indegens.

Mind you the scholarship has not been given to year one because they've no applied yet

Abeg, who is smarter? Is this free education?

Acceptance fee is normal.. All schools collect that when you are giving admission.. Stop talking like a bad belle and if you do not like what he is doing move to LASU>>>>>>

... so they'll leave LASU and go to where??...... angryIMSU undecided........ no thanks, even on a free ticket....
PointB: I think it's a smart move to slash the fees for non-indigene. Hostel building (and associated activities) is about to witness a boom in Imo State. LASU students will surely benefit from this move!

I enjoyed free education up to class 2 also enjoyed low tuition university education 80-90s and i'm absolutely thankful for it. However I hope I would not be insulted for saying that looking at the prwsent situatio in the country, I don't subscribe to free education from anything beyond the JS3 level. After this level, education ( formal ) should be a choice and I would only subscribe to subsidized education or the one in which it would look like a loan for going through STATE OR FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES AT THIS PRESENT SUBSIDIZED RATE WITH AN UNDERTAKING TO REPAY THE GOVERNMENT BACK THE BALANCE ON COMPLETION OF THE EDUCATION OVER A PERIOD OF TIME THAT IS NEGOTIABLE. We really need to see the need for a highere level of responsibility from citizens to the government and the alma mata. There's nothing wrong if the said refund is channeled directly into the alma mata acount so that funds could be made available directly for projects and developments.

Imaging that most of us that attended Federal Schools at very cheap rates compared to those that attended state universities and even private ones will come out and still complain that we've not benefited from the government.

Well the governor should just look at his ballance and think thorough this gesture, if it'll be in the loong term interest of the state. Npt as regarding the non-indegenes but indegenes alike.

I have said it before this Rochas Okorocha is God sent to liberate the Imo people from the shackles and bondage of the PDP. They must grap this opportunity with both hands by ensuring that he is made the life governor. No other governor can match the standard he has set in the state therefore they should just leave him amd his good works alone, but i know Ibo people and their bad belle they continue to attack him just to frustrate him.

he has come in this time to make Imo the shinning light of the east no one should try to quench the light. I just cant imagine what Imo would have been like if PDP had won in that state. God bless Rochass the peoples governor.

What cheque? A cheque has been given to year one that got admission barely a month ago? A cheque that many Imo citizens did not receive. Please, if you've nothing to say just save the space for others

Acceptance fee is normal according to you? You mean 70,000 naira is normal?
How much do other universities pay?

PLS PEOPLE INSTEAD OF GIVING REASONS WHY THIS IS NOT A GOOD MOVE, WHY NOT SUGGEST STEPS THAT COULD BE TAKEN TO MAKE THIS MOVE VERY GOOD-NOT LIKE THE MAN IS GOING TO READ YOUR SUGGESTION OR ACT ON IT BUT WHO KNOWS.... MAYBE 1 OF U BONEHEADS HERE MIGHT GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO ROLL OUT THIS PLATFORM IN THE FUTURE. THAT BEING SAID GOOD MOVE BY THE GOVERNOR I HOPE ALL OTHER GOVERNORS EMULATE THIS.

You enjoyed free/low fee education then because our leaders were not stealing too much..
Now the schools are in bad state only because our leaders are stealing too much and have refused to use the funds the states get in the right way.
The Imo state governor has simply refused to steal or should i just say he is using a larger part of the state funds to do things right and small amount for his self. as nobody holy pass...
Re: Okorocha Slashes Tuition Fee For Non-imo Students By 50% by totorimi: 2:22pm On Nov 30, 2012
Since he came into power it has been one people oriented policy after another and they are not mere talks they are backed with action. I wish we have people like this man ruling Nigeria. If PDP tries to discredit him the people of Imo should come out as they did during the election and tear down the walls of the evil people who dont want Imo to shine. God bless Okorocha. One more thing, the good work you are doing on security is excellent done listen to those useless PDP people looking for ways to cause confusion let them go to Abia or any PDP state and do that but for Imo we and our God sent governor have resolved to make Imo free of crime.God bless okorocha
