I will do more research on this topic and post my findings tomorrow. Will see if the Tanzania high commission here or their home office will pick the call tomorrow and get the information directly from the main source. Come to think of it, this type of country should be visa free to us. We only go there for holidays and dassal to it ! SHALOM |

adigunomomama: Is your passport a lady? Me think its only ladies they do disflower? Go to Kenya visa free, from there you can enter Tanzania visa free as well. $50 at each POE. Mind you; you need more information in order to get to Tanzania from Kenya. All the best |

Re: Welcome To Tanzania by suxes2005(m): 7:07am On Nov 20, 2014 |
Tanzania is visa free to Nigerians. Buy your ticket and fly down there. You get visa on arrival. Better still, fly to Nairobi first, and you can get in to Tanzania thru bus (heard its far and fun) So don't go kill yourself looking for a Tanzania visa from Nigeria. BTW, you have to set your priorities right! ~ Sheyi |

justwise: I'm right. That thing you quoted is old. Airlines will tell you the truth if you ask em. You can of course get visa before leaving, just like the case of Kenya or get visa on arrival. My bad using visa free - wanted to say visa on arrival. Even Mauritius just joined. I still stand to be corrected tho' ~ Sheyi |

Re: Welcome To Tanzania by suxes2005(m): 11:59am On Nov 20, 2014 |
justwise: maybe this is 2014 that site was updated last 2013. from Kenya to Tanzania its visa on arrival. I'm damn sure about that. ~ Sheyi |
Re: Welcome To Tanzania by justwise(m): 12:13pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
suxes2005: Why would they need to update info if something has changed? Don't mislead people here, another website stated the same info that Nigerians need a visa to Tanzania, its not visa free or visa on arrival. Embassy website will not have misleading info while an airline has the correct one Give me link to that airline that told you otherwise. |
Re: Welcome To Tanzania by suxes2005(m): 3:52pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
justwise: My bad. Not applicable to Nigerians in Nigeria. Get visa before going to Tanzania and wakanow.com is the best option. Just N40, 000 for the visa - you gotta buy ticket from em ~ Sheyi |

Re: Welcome To Tanzania by Tokyo50: 6:52pm On Nov 21, 2014 |
Technically, Nigerian citizens can get a visa on arrival in Tanzania after paying $50. However , it is advisable to get it at the embassy in Nigeria. It is quite easy to obtain it. This is due to the fact that airlines will not let Nigerians with no visa to board thier plane due to the bad reputation caused by a few of thier citizens abroad. It is not a country to huddle. You will be stopped frequently by undercover cops and immigration officers in the city. The cost of living is high because they import most products unlike Nigeria . However you can get cheap accommodation. There are many clean , no-frills hotels in the city for $20-30 usd a night. The night life is fantastic. Beers and food is cheap but you need to befriend the locals . Drink and eat where the locals go, it is much cheaper. Tanzanians are easy to approach and very friendly but have problems trusting foreigners especially from west Africa . They think all foreigners are there to hussle and some might even call cops on you! The scars of socialism are still alive and capitalism is not fully accepted, thus the local people are laid back and don't seem to be in a hurry to work. Do not use public transportation if you value your life. If you go see the wildlife , fly from Dar ES salaam to Arusha but don't take a bus. Hundreds of them die every month from road accidents caused by crazy bus drivers on mostly two lane highway. Take a taxi but prepare to hussle with them. Don't take a taxi parked outside the terminal. Walk a few minutes to the main highway and save at least 50%. You will not find west african cuisine. However they have excellent BBQ chicken, meat skewers , mainly beef or goat. They have a big number of indian folks, so get ready to eat spicy curry and rice. The main meal at night seem to be spicy bbq chicken with chips and beef cubes on a stick called mishikaki. Unlike Nigeria, not every restaurant sells beers since most of these restaurants are Muslim owned but they have a wide variety of local beers made by the South African company. A typical day for me would be to stay near jamhuri street which is in downtown and 40 mins from the airport . Cheap hotels there go for 20$-39$ a day. Eat at restaurants nearby. Take a 5$ taxi ride to the beach nearby called oysterbay. Talk to the locals at the beach while drinking beer and eating delicious food at the beach. In the evening I would go to a club called clouds or hang out behind California dreamers where licals drink beer at street prices not club prices and one can meet nice company to chill with. Next day I would catch a boat (50$) to Zanzibar island and exlore it for a whole day . It is quite small and even cheaper than the mainland . Dont forget to present your passport to be stamped . It is part of Tanzania but has its own autonomy and government though you don't pay again for the visa. You can relax by their harbor and meet many foreigners who come to enjoy the local food sold by the beach and drink beer at the bars nearby. It is quite conservative island , 99% Muslim, but there is plenty of unislamic activities to do at nite . I am a party guy so I can't advice on animal watching safari in Arusha because that is not my interest. But if you like beaches, beers, weed and women, then you will have a blast! I hope my info was useful. Take Kenya or Ethiopia to fly to Dar. 4 Likes |
