I hail men nd women of timber on d thread.....a graduate f biochemistry currently serving in d northeastern region.I bliv d genetic engineering part f d course is more modern and viable worldwide compared to d common food,pharmaceutical etc.aldou,strtn wt those isnt a bad idea eida,it wud jst serve as template for a larger venture

You can fit in any company as a biochemist in the making....
I actually did mine in Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc a.k.a Golden penny,worked in their research and Development Labouratory****I really learnt alot. The lab will expose you to things you need to know as a Biochemist in the making..

The pay is not really dat much just about 10k,but they feed you and give you 2bags of semovita as a free issue at the end of the month....
Just try and erase your mind on the Pay cos if you think about it,you might be discourage ***Believe you me,,You will really Enjoy your stay there...

Gudday,there are so many Biochemistry textbooks that will help you,when I talk about help,i mean textbooks that will aid you immensely.Just be ready and willing to buy them cos they can be expensive somehow***Such textbooks are

1. Lehinger**Principles of Biochemistry by Nelson and Michael Cox. 6th Editon**Dats the latest now::It cost about 11k but in a good market like Onitsha main market,you will get it for 9k.
2, Harpers biochemistry 30th Edition by R.k Murray et al*** you can get it for 3,500k
3,Medical Biochemistry by M.Vasudevan for 4.500
Others are Fundamentals of biochemistry, Biochemical techniques E.t.c** The first three are the ones am using and they are very Educating..

really confused just finished service and graduated as a biochemist but getting a job in most of these food manufacturing companies like nestle, and co is really difficult.pls I need help

Evenin metabolites..its nice to c a thread meant for biochemist.. Its not realy easy gettin a job as a biochemist..esp when u don't reside in lag..am looking forward to wrkin in a pharmaceutical, brewery or food industry..tho it ma tarry..I wil definitely get dere smday..proud to b a biochemist

Great Biochemists. I've been lookin for this thread for a long time. I'm a graduate of Biochemistry and I had my service in Abia State specialist hospital in 2014.
Biochemistry is a good course but one must endeavour to make good grade or else Nigeria factor MAY cause frustration.
Why I mentioned good grade is this:
It will help in furthering your studies as u know many schools now write entrance exam for M.Sc. admission.
It will boost your chances of getting a job because many industries now talk about 2:1 for entry level job.
It will boost your chances of getting grants/scholarship such as Commonwealth, Chevening, NDDC and the rest.
People will be encouraged to help u. when some pple hear ur grade they will see u as an hardworking person and may offer u a task that can help u sustain ur livelihood which may not necessarily be ur field.

my dear please look for food/brewery/pharmaceutical industry..u cn also try nafdac or oil companies lik nnpc..hope its helpful

Am a 300l student of biochemistry also...but truth be told, hospital don't accept biochemistry students on I.T except MDs or MLS..so itz difficult except you know somebody @ the top..but I just got my placement @ a hospital..I had to write exam. If you are lucky you will get a hospital..if you dont get then you have many options outside the hospital..I wish you the best.

I think you should get a masters degree that way you stand a better chance of getting a nice Job..

Pls I need a place for my IT. Don't wana go for. NAFDAC or any water cooperation. Pls any available place or probably advice on where to go. Mostly where cloning or genetics is practice

Bchemist are not pharmacologist n can never be pharmacist... They are used to fill in lack of pxcist in pharmaceutical companies... But wat do Bchemist do actually.... Confused by confused set of ppl.... Ppl don't shoot me down ooo... WAAAAARRR.....
