Ohanaeze To APC - Field Igbo Presidential Candidate, by Paschal007: 9:57am On Feb 10, 2013
The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndi’gbo, has told the newly formed All Progressives Congress that it will only support a political party that picks its presidential candidate from the South-East geopolitical zone.

The APC is a product of the merger by four opposition parties – All Nigeria Peoples Party; All Progressives Grand Alliance; Congress for Progressive Change; and Action Congress of Nigeria.

The Publicity Secretary of the Ohanaeze, Mr. Osita Oganah, in an interview with our correspondent on Friday , however, said the group would not restrict its lobbying to a political party, adding that presidential aspirants from the region would be encouraged to realise the Igbo presidency ambition.

Oganah also berated the Young Igbo Christian Ministers Congress for asking the region to forget about the presidency until after 2019.

President of the congress and General Overseer of the House of God International Church, Mr. Athan Azubuike, reportedly cautioned Igbo politicians that no aspirant from the South-East would be President of Nigeria until 2019 and beyond.

However, Oganah said although the cleric had the right to express himself, such should be done with caution.

Meanwhile, Second Republic governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has said the region was set to negotiate the 2015 presidency with President Goodluck Jonathan.

He said the Igbo would vote for the President if he seeks re-election on the condition that he would also support the South-East presidency after serving his second term.

In a separate interview with our correspondent, the elder statesman said the region would play “a game of cooperation” with Jonathan.

Ezeife said,  “If Jonathan will go for a second term, we will meet with him. If he will contest without destroying the democratic structure, we will support him. If he wins, we’ll ask him to support us. Then, it will be win-win, not win-lose or lose-lose.”

It seems southeast leaders does not understand the political pamutation that is going on right now, no party that is serious in winning presidential election ready to defeat the incubent non-northerner to present southerner. For me i think the best they can get is to present a very credible northerner 4 president and an igbo vice president.
Also pdp can not present igbo president either jonathan recontest or not, the best they can get is vp.
But for APC SW vote is already theirs, and core north vote may be their own if they present acceptable candidate.
So they need to get that vice presidency slot to the igbo peaple atleast to compenciate them 4 for waiting for a while.

Igbos are really a pitiable lot, it is obvious they don't have what it takes to rule the country, obviuosly from the state of underdevelopment and insecurity in biafra, coupled with inability of igbos to build a meaningful party of opposition right from independence that igbos have no agenda except that of grabbing power.

they hobnob and play political prostitute with who ever is in power, because they have no vision either for their region or the nation, that was y zik joined NPC, and all of a sudden the vision of NCNC a party founded by a yoruba man who made zik his secretary was taken over by igbos and destroyed with the usual igbo leadership visionlesness, selfishness and greed. thank God yorubas abandoned NCNC for them cos that was the end of igbo voice on the national political scene...igbos cant build a real party..

u can see that the igbos dont mean well for nigeria, that is why they want to support this failure called pdp and jonathan that has no direction just because they hope after jonathan they will be allowed to rule.

am not suprised zik and ekweme did the same thing, and joined with a party that had no vision whilst yorubas remained in opposition, after they will start crying marginalization

igbos have the worst leaders in the world, can you see this mumu, saying they will support jonathan so that jonathan will support them in 2019, even if jonathan wins in 2015 doesnt he know that power will go to the north in 2019 and will remain their for atleast another 8 years?

you see how igbo leaders right from zik, ojukwu, ekweme etc always lead igbos to military and political defeat and confusion,

igbos are not ready to rule ... the one that i was even thinking was different ie rochas has showed himself a typical igboman with trader mentality, and mindless grab for power,,. even before he was inaugurated as gorvnor, he wrote to all banks freezing to freeze imo state account and had to be warned by inec that he yet to be inaugurated as gorvnor after election, he keeps fighting and showing his power all over the place, the last time it was with senator anyanwu,

just behaving like a typical igboman that sees money and position as a means to lord it over others... fashola does not use siren, he stays in hold up no matter how serious like other lagosians. awo never stayed in govt apartment or take govt benefit, he always said what he cant enjoy at the level of his personal wealth he wont accept in public office

igbos cant rule, they dont know the purpose of politics or power, that is why they dont understand the beauty of opposition politics, they have never been in power yet they have never been in opposition, always begging complaining and whining,

the opposition may one day win power, or have a strong bargaining power, like when the nation was forced to vote for yoruba men in 1999, but when you play political protsitute like igbos, [people always use and dump u.

igbos are really pathetic, confused and primitive polticaly

[/s]No the only one here that pitiable, confused and pathetic here is you pechamboi or whatever you call yourself. Your hatred for Igbos is obvious but unfortunately for you, you're intellectually handicapped to express yourself so you went searching around the internet looking for something from a fellow sad bigot. Couldn't you have at least drop the link were copied from hmm? Are you that desperate?

My advice for is to get a life or better still get a job. It ain't Igbos fault that your life is a pathetic state.

BS! Iboz did not contribute any planning/organization/vision, etc to the APC so why would they even expect to reap where they did not sow? APGA with only fringe involvement with APC already said they did not give permission to anyone to take them to the merger, so how can iboz even think they deserve a place at the table? Their narrow mindedness contributed a lot to retardeen's reign of stupidity over Nigeria. Then, they want Biafra, you see iboz are really confused! Let them clean up first and earn their place not expect to be spoon-fed the presidential mandate.

In modern parlance, this is called "edging your bets". But why?

'cause only a true iboman can save nigeria- the present retardeen is not IT.

Zik espressed the same sentiment 60-odd years ago with regards to Africa but till date, they haven't even saved themselves

yet, they want the rest of us to believe that ONLY an ibo man can salvage nigeria.

Befuddled men waiting for others to offer them the presidency on a silver platter. Which tribe encourage mooch- offs like Ezeife with self serving intent to negotiate on their behalf? The same tribe where Rochas who dared to be different is being vilified! The Igbos should get their priorities right and snap out of their delusions of adequacy!

APGA and Ohanaeze are two different things, dude. Focus for Christ's sake.

Most of you guys on this forum are so ignorant you keep mixing APGA, Ohanaeze, MASSOB and the entire Igbo ethnic group. It's pathetic.

The first is a party, not solely for the Igbo per se, but with a strong political presence in South-East Nigeria.

The second is a tribal coalition of men who say they speak for the political interests of the Igbo, although the jury is still out on that one.

The third is a pressure group which pushes for the actualization of the Biafra sovereign country.

While the fourth is a large confederate sub-saharan ethnic group indigenous to the East of Nigeria.

These four groups exist and speak for themselves, and should be studied and approached separately.

Don't be a dunce.

SE can not blackmail the mega party if they pick a Buhari/Fashola ticket..

A Buhari/Fashola ticket is a win in North and SW and SE/SS can vote PDP again..

You brought APGA, a party that only has what? two governors? and you should now decide what? Abeg siddon.

ACN is the biggest party in the merger yet I don't think ACN is going to try and support a SWner for president because it won't bring vitory.

APC should field Buhari/Fashola if they are serious about winning the election without risk.

Some people want to reap where they never sowed. In over 50yrs Nothing has changed about these people, Below is what Shagari said about Azikwe and Ibos

Zik like many African rulers had a major character and integrity problem. At the root was his self-concept or self definition(the way one sees oneself). He saw himself in his own words as a "Beautiful Bride" for the highest bidder as well as indispensable. The former executive president of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, a mild mannered man captured it well when he told Zik during the 1979 election campaign: "when you switch husbands one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight times, you are no longer a beautiful bride but a harlot." Zik was a weather vane-go where the favorable wind blows. A "Beautiful Bride" mindset is exactly the opposite of the leadership mindset. In 1954, the Sutton-Foster Inquiry found Zik's conduct below what was expected of an honest and honorable person.
