Dede1: It is foolhardy to expect upstream business entities to pay taxes when the downstream business entities that support the former are destroyed. Any group of people who believed in the acts of banning as solutions to social problem does not progress. You can not eat your cake and have it. I have questioned the validity of SAN to Fashola’s name.It is not compulsory for you people to live in Lagos nah, if the heat is too much in that important room, you ought to know what to do. N50k is too much for the spare part shop owners, we will still remember that those shop owners are still by one way or the other still pays tax to Federal Government and Lagos State Government. Why not N20 for a start? |

I sell spare parts and can tell better. There is N25,000 for license registration, the N50,000 is for license renewal. It is different from the income tax, shop/trade permit tax, tenement/land use etc. Do Yoruba dominated business like provisons, laces & tailoring materials, tools & building materials pay such fees in addition to the company & income tax. It obvious Fashola is not detribalised enough to be Nigeria's president. 2 Likes |

Spare parts like medicines, and other sensitive products should not be open to everyone. When things go wrong people die. This is true even for foodstuff but some things are riskier than others and sometimes you need taxes to consolidate the market. The spare parts industry need fewer but bigger players not 100s of small sole traders 1 Like |

Fashola need to take caution with the way he is conducting him self I know every body pay tax but 50 is too much. How much profit do they make in a year to pay that much tax and send kids to school. If they would pay that much the road that leads to their place must be in good condition. You need to show us what you are doing with the money. |

This is just an eye opener to few of my igbo kit and kins men who blindly expecting that good things will ever come to them under Tinumbu, Fashola and Buhari. This people are danm tribalistic bigots of all time. you all should go on and pray that God make this set of crooks take over power in Nigeria. Some people uses their hand dig their graves unknowingly. I have said it before and i am gonna say it again and again, Nigeria politics is tribal, if you wish to benefit you must be tribal but you lot said no you are one Nigeria. When a leader will decide to extort people he lead. Only in Lagos i came to know that tax has fixed prize not by your yearly or monthly income. Hahaha day light 419. EKO ONI BAJE. FASHOLA 2015. |

9ja_I_hail: olillywales: Thats the thing with you Illiterate Ibos. The fee is a registration fee. Registration fee is standard and doesnt depend on income. So tell us where you saw TAX in the above post? Anumanu. Registration fee is always fixed e.g for cars whether you are driving a $200k Mercedes or a $700 jalopy the registration is the same |

for the umpteenth time , i want to re emphasis that the lagos state government has no Economist or an Economic team their misplaced priorities are just too monumental to ignore . First the banned Okada leading to the loss of about 40,000 okadas whose revenue is about N4B every month , if that was taxed that would yield about N200M to about N800M a month . Lagos has just shut it self on the foot, this has led to a migration of the bulk of Okada men out of lagos without an alternative to Okada , this has adversely affected food business, house rentals , Fuel consumption and motor part sales Secondly the Lagos Governor goofed when he announced to the whole world that Lagos is the only state can do without oil revenue with out following it with Action. Thirdly he has shut himself in the foot by raising taxes on Motor parts traders which will lead to the high cost of motor parts and will force a lot of motor parts traders to relocate to neighbouring states and ultimtely to their home base . this will adversely affect the price of car/motor parts lead to increases in transportation fare and cost of car and negatively affect the troubled transportation sector of the Lagos economy. any car owner that wants minor repairs can now do it in Lagos but for major repairs will now travel outside lagos and effect the repairs therefore leading to economic flight from lagos 1 Like |

Spare parts dealers are supposed to pay an annual registration fee of N50,000 while auto dealers are to pay an annual registration fee of N100,000. Annual Registration fees and Annual tax serve the same purpose increase in the revenue for lagos and increase in the price of spare parts and the anguish of car owners so who is the last looser . This is even worst than the removal of fuel subsidy for which Lagosians were daily weeping and crying like new born babies deprived of breast milk |

dayokanu: If you no fit afford the 50k then close shop and head back home if you can not afford N50 k consolidate your shops and increase the price of the Spare parts to the Car owners who in turn if they can not afford the new prices will walk by foot since there no longer Bykes and when they can not cope with the trekking they can head back to their respective states |

50 and 100 thousand for registration with the government? Then the area boys will come for their own, all kinds of unions will also collect their own, not to talk of the money paid in ports to clear containers. How are small buisnesses who're the lifeblood of developing economies suppose to survive? For a commercial state like lagos who know the disastrous toll overtaxing has on buisnesses. This is dumb!!! |

Exactly head back to your state, Lagos is overcrowded already 15million people in that small strip of land? Abi why cant you go back to your Ondo, Osun, Anambra, Abia Nasarawa or Delta state and open shop there where you wont need to pay fees and taxes |

Hausa people are the ones who are really marginalized and discriminated against in lagos and most of other southern Nigerian cities or what is it with banning of okadas which is the mainstay of aboki youths? Igbos are even more fortunate than abokis. Lol. Just joking tho. |

Symphony007: this is the kind of thinking that will indeed make people head back home and start buisnesses over there. You think lagos state is indispensible commercially in nigeria? We do want people to head back home and develop their places .This is not spite or malice. Lagos does not have natural resources and believes it wants to focus on high value industries. Low value businesses can move to other states to help the congestion and overcrowding |
