Psoul: Do u really research very well before u make your references. How can u say that Martin Luther's statements caused d masacre of 6million Jews.
@Psoul Go and research the history of the Nazi party and the movements that influenced them. Psoul: That is not true. If u kw your history very well, u will kw that the masacre of 6million Jews was planned and executed by the Jesuits cult (The Chatolic Heads).
@Psoul Stop recycling ignorance in the information age. You know nothing about the Jesuits, go and find out about them --- start with searching google. Psoul: This was one of the Catholic attrocities to Christians and non-Christians which your Popes ones pretended he want to appologies to the world for Attrocities committed by Catholic Church. Re visist your history bro.
@Psoul And what did the confused protestants who inspired and preached to the confused Nazis do Keep on misquoting the bible? |

The majority of "Prairie Saint" denominations were established after the death of Smith by the remnants of the saints who did not go west with Brigham Young. The Rocky Mountain denominations are various sects who broke from the LDS Church after its abandonment of polygamy in 1890. Other denominations are defined by either a belief in Joseph Smith as a prophet, or acceptance of the Book of Mormon as scripture. Mormonism is generally considered distinct from mainstream Protestantism and is more akin to restorationism in believing that Smith restored the original Church of Christ to the Earth.

Re: The Truth About The Catholic Church: And Other Churches: In History by Nobody: 6:09pm On Mar 15, 2008 |
By the way imhotep, you still have not answered the following questions:
1. Was Mary actually crucified.
2. Is Salvation by Faith Alone in Jesus Christ
3. Was Mary born a Sinner
4. Did Mary die, at all
5. How come Semeramis (the origin of Baal worship) has more in commmon with Catholism
6. How come the practises and actions of catholism are vehemently spoken against by the bible,
7. How come a catholic bible says Mary is going to crush the serpent's head even though the Biblical verses and Biblical prophecy that was fufilled with the Birth, Death and Ressurection of Jesus Christ clearly shows that the seed of the woman was going to crush the serpent's head:
The catholic bible "Douay-Rheims Version" shows of the lies of catholism when it says (or imply) that Mary (woman) was going to crush the serpent's head:
Douay-Rheims Version Gen 3:15 I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed; she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.
Yet "The KJV Bible" bluntly shows that the "seed of the woman (Jesus Christ) who is going to crush the head of the serpent as quoted below:
Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
I would therefore appreciate if you leave aside the verbal semantics and concentrate on answering obvious questions (some of which are stated above) that show and imply why catholics and catholism are of their father the devil. |
Re: The Truth About The Catholic Church: And Other Churches: In History by Nobody: 6:19pm On Mar 15, 2008 |
True Christians are not expected to physically unity with each other, even at the expense of the truth,
Light has nothing to do with darkness,
-----------------------
Everyone can continue to call me different names from now till eternity , it makes no difference, people like you , called Jesus Christ worst names than you are doing now,
----------------------
bottomlines is that a lot of you catholics are decieved , while others know the truth but simply don't care,
hence its my responsibility to tell you the truth that would inform you about why what you are invovled in would result in the destruction of your soul,
Telling you the truth about Salvation by Faith in Jesus Christ, is a good that a Christian must do, since the bible says that:
Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Re: The Truth About The Catholic Church: And Other Churches: In History by Nobody: 3:03pm On Mar 16, 2008 |
Here is another reason wny catholism is a lie from the pit of hell: is that catholism believes and mandates it that their own form of salvation is based on: 1. Faith 2. Grace 3. Baptism 4. Works even though the bible clearly states that salvation is only by Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ alone.http://www.carm.org/catholic/reparation.htmOne of the problems of Roman Catholicism is its doctrine of salvation. It denies justification by faith alone and requires works done through the Roman Catholic sacramental system in order for a person to be justified before God. Justification, of course, is the legal declaration by God where he proclaims the sinner righteous in his sight. The Bible clearly teaches that this justification is by faith and denounces any addition of works to it. Rom. 3:28-30, "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. 29Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30since indeed God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith is one."
Rom. 4:5, "But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness."
Rom. 5:1, "therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Rom. 5:9, "Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him."
Rom. 10:4, "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes."
Rom. 11:6, "But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace."
Gal. 2:16, "nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified."
Gal. 2:21, I do not nullify the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.
Gal. 3:24, "Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we may be justified by faith."
Eph. 1:13, "having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise."
Eph. 2:8, "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God."
Phil. 3:9, "and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith."
In spite of the obvious teaching of scripture, Roman Catholicism teaches to the contrary. |
Re: The Truth About The Catholic Church: And Other Churches: In History by Nobody: 3:29pm On Mar 16, 2008 |
Here is a little more of what Catholism had done (confirming their lies and believes) in their effort to fight the biblical truth and fact earlier stated about: Christians being saved only by grace through faith The following are the what the Council of Trent: Canons on Justification. said and also what the bible clearly says, showing that bible is true and the catholics are lying. (Note that i have edited it to make it more readable and obvious), however you can check the following link to check it yourselve in case you doubt their authenticity: http://www.carm.org/catholic/trent.htmCANON 9: "If any one saith, that by faith alone the impious is justified; in such wise as to mean, that nothing else is required to co-operate in order to the obtaining the grace of Justification, and that it is not in any way necessary, that he be prepared and disposed by the movement of his own will; let him be anathema." Bible verses that contradict what the catholic church is saying:
"Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin" (Rom. 3:20).
"Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" (Rom. 3:24).
"Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law" (Rom. 3:28).
"For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness" (Rom. 4:3).
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Rom. 5:1).
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God" (Eph. 2:.
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" (Titus 3:5).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CANON 12: "If any one shall say that justifying faith is nothing else than confidence in the divine mercy pardoning sins for Christ's sake, or that it is that confidence alone by which we are justified , let him be accursed." Bible verses that contradict what the catholic church is saying:
"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name" (John 1:12).
"Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law" (Rom. 3:28).
'For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness" (Rom. 4:3).
"Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; 27Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the peoples': for this he did once, when he offered up himself" (Heb. 7:25-27).
"For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day" (2 Tim. 1:12).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canon 14: "If any one saith, that man is truly absolved from his sins and justified, because that he assuredly believed himself absolved and justified; or, that no one is truly justified but he who believes himself justified; and that, by this faith alone, absolution and justification are effected; let him be anathema." Bible verses that contradict what the catholic church is saying:
"For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness" (Rom. 4:3).
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Rom. 5:1).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canon 23: "lf any one saith, that a man once justified can sin no more, nor lose grace, and that therefore he that falls and sins was never truly justified; or, on the other hand, that he is able, during his whole life, to avoid all sins, even those that are venial,- except by a special privilege from God, as the Church holds in regard of the Blessed Virgin; let him be anathema." Bible verses that contradict what the catholic church is saying:
"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36).
"And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day" (John 6:40).
"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand" (John 10:28).
"That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord" (Rom. 5:21).
"They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us" (1 John 2:19).
"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God" (1 John 5:13).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canon 24: "If any one saith, that the justice received is not preserved and also increased before God through good works; but that the said works are merely the fruits and signs of Justification obtained, but not a cause of the increase thereof; let him be anathema." Bible verses that contradict what the catholic church is saying:
"O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?" (Gal. 3:1-3)
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 2Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law" (Gal. 5:1-3).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canon 30: "If any one saith, that, after the grace of Justification has been received, to every penitent sinner the guilt is remitted, and the debt of eternal punishment is blotted out in such wise, that there remains not any debt of temporal punishment to be discharged either in this world, or in the next in Purgatory, before the entrance to the kingdom of heaven can be opened (to him); let him be anathema." Bible verses that contradict what the catholic church is saying:
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Rom. 5:1).
"And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross" (Col. 2:13-14).
So dear readers , you really need to ask yourself whether or not you want to believe what the bible clearly says concerning what you need to do to be saved or whehter you want to believe what the council of men decided that you must believe (contrary to what the bible says). The choice is yours, GOD HAS ALREADY TOLD YOU |

WAS MARY A PERPETUAL VIRGIN
Yes we know that Mary was a virgin (meaning that she had not been with any man before) before the birth of Jesus Christ. (the bible clearly shows this to be true). However a smooth and blatant lie being propagated by the devil through the catholic church is that they somehow claim that Mary is a Perpetual Virgin
, WHAT !!!!!!!!,
Certainly, this is another blatant lie of the devil , which might have been copied by Mohammmed in his own fantasy of a heaven with 72 perpetual virgins, This lie is bluntly disproved and shown to be a lie via a few bible verses which clearly shows that Mary was never a perpetual virgin:
Matthew 1:24-25 - "And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took as his wife, and kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus."
Matthew 12:46-47 - "While He was still speaking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him. And someone said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You."
Matthew 13:55 - "Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?"
Mark 6:2-3 - "And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue; and the many listeners were astonished, saying, "Where did this man get these things, and what is this wisdom given to Him, and such miracles as these performed by His hands? "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?"
John 2:12 - "After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother, and His brothers, and His disciples; and there they stayed a few days."
Acts 1:14 - "These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers."
1 Cor. 9:4-5 - "Do we not have a right to eat and drink? Do we not have a right to take along a believing wife, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?"
Gal. 1:19 - "But I did not see any other of the apostles except James, the Lord's brother."
The bible verses clearly showed that after the birth of Jesus Christ, Joseph and Mary clearly "procreated", such that Mary gave birth to :
1. James 2. Joseph 3. Simon 4. Judah
Jesus Christ clearly had brothers, as such a perpetual virgin Mary would simply not be possible (unless off course the catholics and mu.s.lim.s are still the idea of perpetual virginity from each other).
SO please let not your heart be deceived via the lies of Catholic church , JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY WAY TO ETERNAL LIFE
MARY WAS NEVER A PERPETUAL VIRGIN |

when all is said an done the bottomline is that each and every one of us need to be sure of our salvation, therefore the question is that:
What you must do to be Saved ,
The biblical answers for each and everyone who is yet to know Christ or anyone who seeks to come back as a prodigal son back to Christ, I HOPE THE FOLLOWING BIBLE VERSES SHOULD HELP YOU OUT.
Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Joh 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Joh 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Act 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
GOD SAVE AND BLESS YOU |

MayKelly here you go again , saying that I am a accuser of the brethren, (a title reserved for the devil himself ) because i bluntly told you that truth that the fruit you are bearing (by supporting catholics either directly indirectly) goes to show that you are not bearing a good fruit that a "True Born Again Christian" would bear. Its funny that you, imhotep and others have yet to show me how the "bible verses" which i have quoted as proof (or which some other people have quote and i then referenced) for my stand against the catholic church, i.s.l.a.m and others, have been shown to be not true. The bottomline is that that bible verses which are i quoted are true (unless off course you are now saying that when the bible conflicts with ideas of men, then the ideas of men should be accepted and the bible ignored), unfortunately for you, imhotep, and others, the bible verses are true and clear for everyone else to see, hence you have resorted to kill the messenger since you didn't like the message. Its is true that the bible makes it clear that a person of faith would also bear good fruits which men sometimes see as good works. However the bible clearly states that such good works are not the basis of salvation of that sinner nor are they the basis of salvation for any Christian, the bible says that SALVATION IS BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH ONLY, LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOOST, lest men should bring themselves back under the law after having being saved by grace though faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore it is wrong and ungodly for anybody or any church to now create doctrines of men (no matter who those men) , in which they now state that salvation of souls is depedent on the good works of men, (when the bible clearly says that its not). Abraham was saved by Faith, not his good works , because he himself had some bad works according, Yet the bible clearly shows that Abraham's faith (not his works) was counted to him as Righteousness. I am not here to get your acceptance or approval before i tell you the truth, as a matter of fact i don't even expect you to want to either hear the truth or accept that truth. Its rather sad that despite you anger towards me and contempt of me, you cannot change the word of God for you own benefit, whether you like it or not. The truth is that "The Bible goes against and contradicts everything that the Catholic Church stands for", .IF YOU STILL DO NOT UNDERSTAND AND SEE THIS DESPITE MY ATTEMPTS TO REASON WITH YOU , IMHOTEP AND OTHERS , WELL I MUST SAY THAT YOU ARE GRADUALLY SLIPPING AWAY BEYOND THE REACH OF HELP.@Sysuser, I Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I Believe that He die for my sin. I believe that He rose from Death. I believe that He Ascended to Heaven. By the way May Kelly, the truth is that it does not matter what you say with you mouth concerning what you believe, rather Your fruits which you bear concerning you stand for God against the the devil, the world and the devil's devices, speak louder than you mere words of credeThe bible makes it clear that :
Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Mat 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Mat 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Mat 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Therefore its not who you claim to be that matters , rather your true nature is eventually betrayed by the kind of fruits that you are bearing, to merely say that: 1. Jesus Christ is the Son of God 2. He died for your sin 3. He rose from the Dead 4. He ascended to Heaven Your stated does not tell the whole story, rather i would want to find out from you whether or not you believe that your SALVATION IS ONLY BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST.
This is because even the Roman Catholics believe all that you have just said , while also believe other things that are not bibilical, remember even the bible makes it clear even the demons believe and know that truth and tremble , so does your stated influence your concept of salvation. Jas 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. Once again i repeat, I am not judging you, rather i am simply using the method that the bible as provided for a Christian to be able to know whether or not another person who calles his/herself a christian is truthful or not, , The method says that i would know who you are by your fruits, .unforunately, May Kelly, your fruits (which i have observed on this nairaland) does not say you are born again, rather its says you are not! Finally instead of trying to play the victim mentality card against me , I would like you to please kindly show me which bible verse that i have quoted against the catholic church that is not true.--------------------------------------- For you imhotep, Insert Quote @Sysuser Attacking the beautiful Council of Trent does not get you anywhere. The Catholic Church had been existing for centuries before the Council of Trent, and for centuries after.
You only display your great ignorance, insecurity and doubt when you post these things.
Like I keep telling you, go and preach to each of your 33,000 confused sects. Leave the united and organized Catholics alone. imhotep, imhotep,, imhotep, you are still continuing in your ramblings, scoffing and verbal semantics, Your dogged determination to defend that catholic church and its beliefs clearly show that you VALUE THE WORDS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH MORE THAN VALUE THE BIBLE ITSELF, Everyone else (apart from probably you, May Kelly and others) can clearly see that all i have been trying to do, is to clearly show that what the bible says is different from what the catholic says. Yet in all you bid to defend the doctrines of men as put forward by the cult called the catholic church, you end up attacking me instead of actually facing up to what the word of God said. , HOW PITYFUL That you still keep thinking or implying that i am only out to destroy that "catholic establishment", really shows your lack of understanding that; the issue here is not about you and me , the issue here is about the , otherwise I would be please for you to show me why you are implying that the bible is false and that the council of trent is true. The bible clearly shows that WORD OF GOD IS TRUE, and that GOD IS NO RESPECTER OF ANY MAN, and that whenever there is a conflict between the words of men and the Word of GOD, THE WORD OF GOD MUST MUST BE TAKEN AS THE ONLY TRUTH IN SUCH A CASE. Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. |

SysUser:
Here is a little more of what Catholism had done (confirming their lies and believes) in their effort to fight the biblical truth and fact earlier stated about:Christians being saved only by grace through faith
The following are the what the Council of Trent: Canons on Justification. said and also what the bible clearly says, showing that bible is true and the catholics are lying.
(Note that i have edited it to make it more readable and obvious), however you can check the following link to check it yourselve in case you doubt their authenticity: http://www.carm.org/catholic/trent.htm
CANON 9: "If any one saith, that by faith alone the impious is justified; in such wise as to mean, that nothing else is required to co-operate in order to the obtaining the grace of Justification, and that it is not in any way necessary, that he be prepared and disposed by the movement of his own will; let him be anathema."
Bible verses that contradict what the catholic church is saying:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CANON 12: "If any one shall say that justifying faith is nothing else than confidence in the divine mercy pardoning sins for Christ's sake, or that it is that confidence alone by which we are justified , let him be accursed."
Bible verses that contradict what the catholic church is saying:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Canon 14: "If any one saith, that man is truly absolved from his sins and justified, because that he assuredly believed himself absolved and justified; or, that no one is truly justified but he who believes himself justified; and that, by this faith alone, absolution and justification are effected; let him be anathema."
Bible verses that contradict what the catholic church is saying:
"For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness" (Rom. 4:3).
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Rom. 5:1).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Canon 23: "lf any one saith, that a man once justified can sin no more, nor lose grace, and that therefore he that falls and sins was never truly justified; or, on the other hand, that he is able, during his whole life, to avoid all sins, even those that are venial,- except by a special privilege from God, as the Church holds in regard of the Blessed Virgin; let him be anathema."
Bible verses that contradict what the catholic church is saying:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Canon 24: "If any one saith, that the justice received is not preserved and also increased before God through good works; but that the said works are merely the fruits and signs of Justification obtained, but not a cause of the increase thereof; let him be anathema."
Bible verses that contradict what the catholic church is saying:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Canon 30: "If any one saith, that, after the grace of Justification has been received, to every penitent sinner the guilt is remitted, and the debt of eternal punishment is blotted out in such wise, that there remains not any debt of temporal punishment to be discharged either in this world, or in the next in Purgatory, before the entrance to the kingdom of heaven can be opened (to him); let him be anathema."
Bible verses that contradict what the catholic church is saying:
The choice is yours, GOD HAS ALREADY TOLD YOU
Much unlike the fanatical and insecure Sysuser, the Council of Trent interpreted the bible holistically and included this simple passage ==> James 2:14-26 14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day,
16 and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well," but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it?
17 So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18 Indeed someone might say, "You have faith and I have works." Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.
19 You believe that God is one. You do well. Even the demons believe that and tremble.
20 Do you want proof, you ignoramus, that faith without works is useless?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar?
22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by the works.
23 Thus the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called "the friend of God."
24 See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.
25 And in the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she welcomed the messengers and sent them out by a different route?
26 For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

There are 2 types of "christians" here.
1. One set of christians hold solely to the standard bible of 66 books and base all their beliefs and creeds solely on it.
2. The other set of "christians" do not hold solely to the 66 books of the bible but also their traditions Catholics believe both Scripture and tradition are equal and both make up "the word of God"
Now the issue here is that the #1 christians biblically declare the #2 christians false because their extra-biblical traditions/beliefs directly and ourightly contradict parts of the bible As showed by imhotep to me once, the catholic church states that the parts of the bible that contradict their traditions were not meant to be taken literally by God(I'll get the link in a sec). Sysuser this is why they cannot and do not accept the many verses that you have been quoting - as admirable and valiant as you've been.
For example: Hence when the bible teaches that salvation is by grace alone, God did not mean that literally -according to the catholic church. And they say their traditions (which to them are also scripture) "reveal" that. The fact remains that they do not hold the same belief system (of the 66 books) of the bible that we do.
Now let me add I have met some catholics that love God and and are believing in Him to save them. Nevertheless, they are ignorant of the beliefs their churches hold that are borderline heretic. Once you recognize that these teachings are inconsistent and contradictory to the bible (which makes no provision for the use of extra-biblical material) they must turn away from it. |

I'm glad you posted the link! now everyone can read it themselves and draw their own conclusion if I misquoted you or not and by the way you have still refused to show me how I misquoted you. here's the link to the thread I first had this discussion with you - (for everyone else who'e intrested) https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-116335.64.html#msg2033264 Now, since you don't want to get off the 66books, what is really your point? I'm not throwing out a #66, the #66 has absolutely nuthin to do with it. The accepted books (by everyone but the catholics) just happened to sum up to 66 books, that's all, why are you stuck on that? who in here doesn't know the church (except catholics) for centuries has subscribed solely to the bible? Besides the fact that there are contradictory parts in your scripture and tradition immediately raises red flags, don't you think? huh? |

Jesoul: 2.
The word "tradition" is taken from the Latin 'trado, tradere' meaning to hand over, to deliver, or to bequeath. It is from these traditions, for instance, that we know that Peter was crucified upside down in Rome. This is not recorded in the bible. What was Paul referring to in these letters --> 1 Corinthians 11:2"Now I praise you that ye remember me in all things, and hold fast the traditions, even as I delivered them to you. " 2 Thes 2:15"So then, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye were taught, whether by word, or by epistle of ours " |

here's the quote from the website on catholic belief
"The Roman Catholic Christian view (especially since the Second Vatican Council) holds that the Bible is inerrant only in the things that God intended to reveal, the inconsistencies being deemed not to belong to these, or being deemed to be figurative and/or allegory."
doesn't this mean anything that is contradictory was not meant literally? and was only a figure of speech?
I paste from my previous response: The catholic church believes only the parts of the bible that don't contradict their traditions. They therefore can claim to justify all these extra and contra-biblical teachings because those "parts" of the bible were probably "figurative" and not meant to be applied literally. So therefore when all those millions of verse say that God alone forgives sins - they were not really meant to be taken literally. But when Jn 20 said the apostles forgives and people will be forgiven, they take it literally. They apparently have picked which parts of the scriptures to deem acceptable or not, meant to be taken literally or not. and this selection appears to be based on whether or not that particular verse contradicts their own traditions or canon. |

The subject here is "contradictions in the bible". Not between bible and what you call tradition. |

sola scriptura cannot ascertain HOW MANY books the bible should have. --------------------------------- Now, let me address one of the basis of this sola scriptura story. If, by sola scriptura, you are referring to this passage => 2 Timothy 3:15-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works
There is one outstanding problem: the bible was compiled and approved about 320 years after Paul wrote this to letter Timothy. So, which scripture was Paul referring to?? Obviously here, and in most references to " the Scriptures" that we find in the New Testament, Paul is speaking of the Old Testament; so if this passage is going to be used to set the limits on inspired authority, then the entire New Testament will be excluded. |

how funny! so now you want to quote Paul's words huh? I will show your duplicity: quote from imhotep: Are you trying to use the words of the servant (Paul) to counter the words of the Master (Jesus) This is bad biblical scholarship/exegesis. Why all of a sudden is it okay for you to take Paul's words literally? This is exactly my point! you quote the bible only when it suits and supports your position. but when that same bible contradicts it you completely ignore it! |
