We got it wrong when parents and gaurdians started chasing money and letting the media raise their kids and wards. We got it wrong when churches became more concerned about increasing their numbers and forgot to hammer on the message of holiness and decency. We got it wrong when we decided to adopt every western culture possible.
Let me tell you a short story. After hiroshima, japan was on its knees economically and in many other ways, so it took some of its best youths and sponsored them to go and study certain courses in USA amongst which there was a lot of engineering courses. It is said that they gave this youths one instruction, "Learn their education, not their culture".
