Politics2019: How Oshiomhole Will Enable Me To End Up Rivers Representative – Senator Ab by 11Ebiscoo(op): 9:10pm On Jul 02, 2018
One of the governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Sen. Magnus Abe has expressed hope that the newly elected National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole will help him achieve his ambition of becoming the state’s number one citizen.

Abe, who represents Rivers South-East at the Senate, also commended the commitment of members of the party in the state during the national convention of the APC despite the crisis.

Speaking in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital yesterday when he arrived the state from Abuja, Abe expressed confidence that the Oshiomhole-led party leadership would restore the trust of the party.

“I am happy to be home after the convention and I want to use this opportunity to appreciate all members of APC for their enthusiasm and commitment to the party.

“Despite the challenges in Rivers State they were in Abuja in their numbers and I am happy that the convention is over and we have a brand new executive of the party that is committed to the ideals core values of the APC.

“The new leadership of the party has said publicly that they will be committed to truth, justice and inclusion to make sure that all members of the party have opportunity to participate fully in programmes of the party. The national chairman made it public in his inaugural speech.

“I think that is what this new executive is committed to. They will not humiliate somebody to please another. So far as I am concerned Rivers State is ripe. I am going to contest the for primaries of the Governorship of Rivers State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress,” he said.

Christianity EtcPlateau Killings: Bishop Udeh Reveals What God Told Him About Nigeria by 11Ebiscoo(op): 5:38pm On Jul 01, 2018
The General Overseer of Mount Zion Faith Liberation Ministries, Bishop Abraham Chris Udeh has revealed what will happen to Nigeria if Muhammadu Buhari continues as President.

There have been incessant killings and destruction of property by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The most recent was last week’s murder of over 150 people in Plateau State by armed men and Bishop Udeh said he saw, in the spiritual realm, a nation in mass killings.

He called for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that he had failed to provide security for Nigerians.

Addressing reporters in Nnewi, Anambra State yesterday, Udeh urged lawmakers to act “before the entire nation is engulfed in bloodbath.”

He added: “There is absolute insecurity in the country. And one begins to wonder why and how cattle rearers would be armed to the teeth with sophisticated weapons, killing, maiming innocent souls and burning houses and other property.

“How do they acquire those weapons? So, the President must go; otherwise, from what I have seen in the spiritual realm, the entire nation would soon be plunged into a killing that cannot be controlled. He has failed Nigerians”.

PoliticsHerdsmen: How Security Chiefs Allowed Increased Attacks On Nigerians – Saraki by 11Ebiscoo(op): 7:08am On Jul 01, 2018
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki has berated Security Chiefs over the lack of coordination in the face of killings across the country.

Speaking in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, the Senate President said while the security architecture in the country has “failed”, some of the security officials overseeing security in the country do not talk to one another.

Lamenting the persistent crisis, Saraki said the issue was “not something to be politicised” because it affects all Nigerians.

He said, “If somebody is not capable and cannot do what he has to do, let others have the opportunity to do it.

“We have had situations where security officials have told us there is poor coordination. One, A is not talking to B, B is not talking to A. They don’t attend meetings jointly and things need to be done.

“There is no society that continues to see the kind of killings here and think that it should be business as usual. It requires drastic action, it requires a collaboration of all agencies and all arms of government for us to be serious.”

Saraki recalled that the National Assembly had called for a security summit where “we had addressed the issue of security architecture” and also resolved to invite the security chiefs.

“You are all very aware that some service chiefs decided in their own wisdom that there is no need for them to work with the national assembly to address these issues.

“Let us forget the issue of party, these are lives of people. Let’s remove politics. It is not about who is the speaker of the house, who is the president of the senate. It is about Nigeria.”

PoliticsPlateau Massacre: How I Saved Over 262 Christians From Being Killed By Herdsmen by 11Ebiscoo(op): 10:31am On Jun 30, 2018
A kind-hearted and brave Muslim cleric has told the BBC how he saved about 262 Christians from being killed in the last attack in villages in Plateau State by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The Imam, who was not named during the interview for security reason, spoke to BBC’s Dooshima Abu yesterday when he recalled in graphic details how he saved the persons fleeing from herdsmen, who had invaded Nghar Yelwa village in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

He said “upon seeing victims fleeing from suspected herdsmen who attacked Nghar Yelwa village, I opened the door of the mosque and hid them.”

He said that the 262 persons were running for safety from a neighbouring village in the Barkin Ladi local government area, which was being attacked by gunmen.

After the attack that happened last weekend, villagers insisted that over 200 persons where slaughtered although police report claimed only 86 persons died.

The Islamic cleric told Dooshima Abu, “I hid the women in my personal house and after that, I took the men into the Mosque and hid them there.”

He said when the attackers caught up with him, and forcefully demanded that he release to them those who were Christians in the mosque, “I lied to the gang that everyone in the mosque were Muslims.”

According to him, upon hearing this, the attackers left and went on with their killing spree elsewhere.

According to the report, the Mosque is now the home and refuge for those hidden by the Imam.

Other Berom natives, including some Muslims residing in Barkin Ladi who escaped the attack, ran to Nghar Yelwa for safety, which is the nearest village.

PoliticsWhy FAAC Meeting Ended In Deadlock – Adeosun by 11Ebiscoo(op): 9:46am On Jun 29, 2018
The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, on Thursday said Wednesday’s meeting of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) ended in a deadlock because the revenue remitted by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for sharing was “unacceptably” low.

Members of the committee had dispersed from the auditorium of the finance ministry, venue of the meeting, in despair refusing to share the funds proposed by the NNPC.

Although members of the committee refused to say why they left without sharing the allocation, PREMIUM TIMES overhead a telephone conversation by one of the commissioners who blamed the decision on NNPC’s refusal to remit sufficient revenue to the pool.

But, NNPC denied any wrongdoing, saying the remitted amount was agreed by the governors of the 36 states..

NNPC spokesperson, Ndu Ughamadu, said in a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES on Thursday the N147 billion revenue remitted to FAAC for sharing to the three tiers of government was “in line with the terms of agreement it had with governors on the matter.”

Mr Ughamadu said the agreement was that the corporation would remit about N112 billion to FAAC every month.

The remittance, he said, was however subject to sufficient funds from its sale of domestic crude oil allocation for the corresponding month after meeting cash call obligations on Joint Venture (JVs), deductions of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)-cost under recovery and pipeline maintenance.

He said the NNPC surpassed the terms of agreement on monthly remittance for June by N35 billion.

However, while briefing the governors on the deadlock, Mrs Adeosun, who is also the Chairman of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), said the revenue brought by NNPC for sharing during the month was lower than expectations.

“We (government) operate NNPC as a business. We have invested public capital in the business and we have expectations of return, and when that return falls lower than our expectations, then the owners of the business (the Federal Government and States), need to act,” Mrs Adeosun said, according to a statement sent by her office.

The minister said FAAC members felt the figures the NNPC proposed for sharing were unacceptable, while some of the costs included in the report could not be justified.

She said it was the decision of members of the revenue sharing committee to go back and reconcile the accounts with the NNPC, rather than approve the accounts.

Mrs Adeosun said both the federal and state governments have agreed to bear the consequences and ensure they get to the bottom of the matter and bring out the accurate figures.

She noted that now that oil price is about $76 per barrel in the spot , Nigeria’s blend of crude oil (Bonny Light) would be about $78 per barrel.

With the crude oil benchmark price in the 2018 budget put at $51 per barrel average, indications are that government would be earning as much as $27 excess revenue from each of the 2.3 million barrels per day production capacity, after deducting 445,000 barrels for local refining.

In line with government’s plan to aggressively grow the excess crude oil revenue account, the minister said government’s intention was to encourage savings in the excess crude account.

“If the federal and state governments cannot get into the Federation Account the sort of revenues they expect from the NNPC, then they will not be able to save,” the minister said.

On what is the expectation from NNPC going forward, the minister said based on the current crude oil price and crude oil quantity, FAAC members have the right to ask questions, if, based on their calculations, the revenue figure the NNPC presents was less.

“We have to understand these figures NNPC is giving before we can accept them. Remember that the FAAC figures have to be formally accepted by the committee. And because we were simply not comfortable with the quantum of some of the deductions made, we could not approve those figures,” she said.

Since Wednesday, the minister said representatives of the Commissioners of Finance Forum, Federal Ministry of Finance, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Central Bank of Nigeria have been meeting with the NNPC top management.

She expressed the hope that the reconciliation would be concluded soon to enable FAAC reconvene within next few days.

On balances in the Excess Crude Account, the minister said while the ECA had about $1,92 billion Stabilisation Account has N18.9 billion and Natural Resources Account N133.72 billion.

There are already indications that Nigerian workers could be made to suffer due to FAAC confusion. On Thursday, the Bayelsa State Government warned that June salaries of workers in the state may be delayed until the confusion is sorted out.

PoliticsDefence Headquarters Recommends Sack Of Officers Abusing Social Media by 11Ebiscoo(op): 11:58am On Jun 28, 2018
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has warned that any officer or personnel of the Army, Navy and Air Force caught divulging sensitive information on social media platforms would not only be demoted but would also be fired from the services of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

This was contained in a new guideline for military personnel and their family members on the use of social media to tackle cyber-security crimes.

The order contained in a new military policy prescribed by the DHQ, and signed into law on Monday by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, prescribed dismissal from service, reduction in rank, among other stiffer penalties for offenders.

Under the new arrangement, the Defence Space Administration has been mandated to monitor the calls and usage of the social media by military personnel.

With the new law, mobile telephones of military personnel and that of their family members will now be monitored by the authorities to know what they are posting on the social media platform.

It was gathered that the new law entitled ‘Policy on the Use of Social Media’ for the Armed Forces of Nigeria”, stipulates the immediate establishment of a Social Media Directorate in the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Navy and the Nigerian Air force to monitor the Social Media and tell the Armed Forces story in real time.

In one of the workshops held recently for army personnel in Lagos, the Chief of army staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, had frowned against the abuse of the use of social media by some personnel contrary to the rules of the service which he said necessitated the need for establishment of a directorate that would focus solely on the management of social media in the service.

Buratai said, ”The Nigerian Army has a policy on the use of social media. The use of social media to discuss or disclose service matter is absolutely wrong.

“It is very unprofessional for personnel to resort to social media to disclose classified information or express grievances when the Nigerian Army has well established channels for addressing complaints.

“It is equally saddening to find operational issues and utterances including some gory pictures involving our personnel and equipment being circulated on social media.”

“I want you to take particularly of the presentations as it will also highlight the inherent risk associated with the advent of social media and all the steps you must not take to compromise information as clerks.

“The army has initiated a process that would lead to the establishment of a directorate that would focus solely on the management of social media in the service.

“This is part of my action plan to curtail the risk associated with the use of social media by personnel.” The army chief noted.

PoliticsBuhari Has Turned Nigeria Into A Funeral Palour – PDP by 11Ebiscoo(op): 10:53pm On Jun 27, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has declared that the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been turned into a funeral parlour.

It said wailing and gnashing of teeth was now a daily routine for millions of her citizens.

Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made this claim while playing host to members of the party from his Kabba/Bunu Constituency of Kogi State at the party’s national secretariat on Wednesday.

Ologbondiyan, while thanking his constituency for the visit, tasked them to go home and impressed it on others that 2019 is a year of decision that must be taken to salvage the nation “from the grip of backwardness typified by the ruling APC.”

He said: “Nigeria is passing through perilous times. Today, our country is turning into funeral parlour by the APC. You need to let our people know the current state of the country so that they will not make the mistake they made in 2015 by voting for Muhammadu Buhari. We don’t need anybody to tell us that we are suffering.

“It is unimaginable that while Nigerians are suffering untold economic hardship, including unpaid salaries, due to the misrule of the APC, governors elected on the platform of the APC diverted N150 million each, amounting to a humongous N3.6 billion to fund their wasteful national convention in Abuja.

“Recently, the Brooking Report shows that under President Buhari and APC governors, millions of Nigerians are daily dropping below poverty line. According to the report, Nigeria under Buhari has become poverty capital of the world. There is hunger and starvation everywhere, yet the APC stole N3.6 billion from public coffers to fund its national convention.

“Everybody knows that APC is a party of corruption. That is why their choice of a national chairman is an individual overburdened by allegations of humongous corruption and alleged stealing of public funds, yet enjoying presidential cover, even when the petition against him at the EFCC is in the public domain.”

He condemned the manner of emergence of the new APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, saying he must be investigated for alleged corrupt deeds if the President Buhari administration is to be taken seriously in its fight to rid the nation of corruption.

“The PDP restates its demand that the EFCC immediately commence investigation against Oshiomhole, otherwise, it would have no ground upon which to continue to arrest, investigate and arraign other Nigerians on allegations of corruption”, he said.

He further noted that the PDP has tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognize Oshiomhole, “as his emergence by affirmation is a violation of democratic requirements of direct voting by delegates.

“You will recall that in 2012, we had a convention which INEC declared a nullity because they said we did not follow the rules‎. As we speak today, the coronation that INEC conducted at Eagle Square did not fit into any of our electoral laws. We therefore call on INEC to declare it null and void. All those who did not go through votes at the convention, all those who were elected by voice votes, INEC must declare their elections null and void because they did not go through the electoral laws.”

“Each time President Buhari poses as a man of integrity, informed Nigerians shudder. If he is a man of integrity, why is he condoning corruption in his presidency and surrounding himself with corrupt people? Why is he blocking the investigation of Oshiomhole over corruption allegations? Why did he allow looted funds to be used for his party’s national convention? Buhari is not a man of integrity as his handlers want Nigerians to believe”, he added.

PoliticsWhy Obasanjo Is No Longer Useful Politically – Yoruba Elder, Fasanmi by 11Ebiscoo(op): 6:05pm On Jun 26, 2018
Senator Ayo Fasanmi, a chieftain of Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has asked former President, Olusegun Obasanjo to retire from politics.

Fasanmi said the former President was an exhausted politician who should go on political retirement.

He warned Afenifere to avoid Obasanjo because his agenda was at variance with the objectives of the pan-Yoruba group.

Recall that Obasanjo had over the weekend met with some Yoruba elders in Lagos.

However, Fasanmi, while speaking with The Nation stressed that the former President was seeking relevance because he has outlived his political usefulness.

Fasanmi said, “As far as I am concerned, Obasanjo has become a spent force. He wants to be recognised as the one directing the affairs of the nation at every stage: from the time he was military head of state, civilian president, through (the late President Umaru Musa) Yar’Adua’s time to (former President Goodluck) Jonathan’s period. He has the feeling that he knows it all.

“I cannot recognise any invitation from Obasanjo. He described Abiola as not the messiah we were looking up to. Is Obasanjo the messiah now? I think he should retire. I know Obasanjo well. He cannot enjoy my support

“Fasoranti and Adebanjo are my good friends. We were in the Jos convention of the Action Group (AG) together.

“We were followers of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Obasanjo is not sincere. We should not allow Obasanjo’s politics to divide us.

“We should be careful about Obasanjo. I have my reservations about him. Yoruba must come together, but not behind Obasanjo; Obasanjo can’t lead us. He was a minister, military head of state and civilian president.

“The honour that was conferred on Abiola by President Buhari should have been done by Obasanjo. He did not do it.

“We thank President Buhari for doing this. We should support him and not Obasanjo’s agenda. Obasanjo should go into retirement. He only wants to be seen and heard.”

Crime20 Feared Dead As Cross River, Ebonyi Communities Clash by 11Ebiscoo(op): 10:13am On Jun 26, 2018
The communal clash between the people of Ukele in Yala local government area of Cross River and Izzi in Ebonyi State has reportedly claimed over 20 lives.

The Community Relations Officer to the Governor of Cross River, Mr Vincent Egbe alleged that the clash started on Friday when some Izzi residents invaded the venue of a peace meeting convened by the Divisional Police Officer for the Area and his Ebonyi State counterpart to find a peaceful resolution of the matter.

“We were already in the meeting venue waiting for the arrival of the DPOs from Yala and Izzi Local Government Areas when some youths invaded the venue of the meeting and shot into the crowd and wounded many people,” he alleged.

He said the Ukele youths mobilised and managed to repel the attackers and it was in the ensuing battle that the villages of Nkaleke and Nduabonyi were hit and many people also lost their lives.

“They are the aggressors and all our people have been trying to do is to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict yet they keep launching attacks on us,” he said.

A resident in the area, Patrick Ege, said that perennial land conflict started on Wednesday following a gun attack on an Ukele villager.

He alleged that the shooting occurred at Ijibolo village when the villagers were returning from a meeting on Wednesday evening, leaving many people with gun wounds.

“There was a serious attack on my village, Ijibolo when the Izzi people waylaid villagers who were returning from a meeting and many people sustained gunshot wounds,” he stated.

He said a woman was shot on Monday while she was in the farm and was in a critical state at the Lutheran Hospital Yahe where she was rushed to for medical attention.

Hon. Jarigbe Agom, the member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency said there should be increased security presence in the area to forestall further loss of lives in the area.

When DAILY POST contacted the Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Inuwa Hafiz on phone on Monday, he said “As far as I am concerned, I will only talk of what my men on ground told me.

“First of all, this problem started around Thursday when a woman from Cross River was shot on the leg by suspected Izzi people, that was what infuriated the Cross Riverians to go for reprisal.

“When they went for reprisal, we quickly moved in because the people from Ebonyi too were ready for showdown, but our prompt intervention that day saved the situation, otherwise by now, you could have been hearing of so many casualties.”

“I appeal to the deceased family and Cross Riverians to calm frayed nerves; the traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the area should not escalate the situation by making sure that they partake in the peace process. Proliferation of small arms and light weapons are not going to do anybody any good.

“Politicians and stakeholders should stop fanning the embers of enmity within Ebonyi and people of Cross River State; they have been living for years, so they should explore way of resolving conflict rather than bringing more problems,” he stated.

CrimePlateau Attacks: Police Confirm Killing Of 11 Persons By Herdsmen, Army Reacts by 11Ebiscoo(op): 8:12pm On Jun 24, 2018
The Police Command in Plateau state has confirmed the killing of 11 persons in attacks on Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government.

Also hit were Daffo and Kuba communities in Bokkos Local Government.

Mr Terna Tyopev, the command’s spokesman, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Jos that many other villages were hit by the gunmen suspected to be herdsmen.

“The gunmen invaded the villages on Saturday and killed several people. Based on the number of corpses recovered and buried, we can confirm 11 killed,” he said.

He said, however, that more people might have died because many families had buried their dead relatives before the Policemen arrived,” he said.

Tyopev said that some dead bodies had been deposited at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) mortuary, adding that security had been beefed up in affected villages to restore peace.

Capt. Umar Adams, spokesman of ‘Operation Safe Haven’, the military task force maintaining peace in Plateau, who also spoke on the attacks, described them as “unfortunate”.

“We are aware of the unfortunate attacks, but I cannot confirm how many people were killed,” he told NAN.

CelebritiesMocheddah Is A Child, I Can’t Beef Her – Ruggedman by 11Ebiscoo(op): 5:06am On Jun 24, 2018
Veteran rapper Ruggedman has spoken on his issue with female rapper turned fashion designer Mocheddah.

Recall Mo, had challenged Ruggedman about his Ebd Sars campaign online asking that he not bring other celebrities into his fight with the force.

Speaking on this, Ruggedman likened Mo to a baby saying he can not beef her.

He said;

“I really would not want to take issues with anyone at this time because I am currently putting finishing touches to my Ruggedman’s Twentieth September Wears clothing line as I am set to unveil its first hoodie and new t-shirt designs. However, Mo Cheddah and I do not have a beef; why would I have a beef with a child? The first and only time I ever saw her was when she ran to my car somewhere in Maryland to tell me that she loves my songs and she is my fan. That was the first and only time I met her. I cannot have any issues with her. If I have issues with anyone who is fighting a good cause, I would not use that cause to display any negative thing. What she did is just unfortunate but she was really tongue-lashed by Nigerians and celebrities. I was very happy that celebrities also condemned what she said. She was very wrong. But like I told someone, her comment helped us to propagate the word the more. That is what I picked from the whole encounter and not what she said because that does not really matter to me.”

He continued;

“When I saw Mo Cheddah’s reply to my call on SARS, the first thing that came to my mind was, ‘what is she on?’ Any well-meaning Nigerian would understand what I am saying. She said something like ‘I am trying to force my belief on people,’ what does she mean by my belief? I am not talking about religion, instead I am speaking for the innocent people that are being brutalised and not Ruggedman being brutalised. She also said something about me not forcing people to fight my cause. How is it my cause when it is other people that are being brutalised? I am actually fighting other people’s cause. The bottom line is that if she really did not have anything to say, she should have kept quiet, sadly for her, she was tongue-lashed by Nigerians and that is why I did not say anything about her comment.

“Till now, I still don’t understand why she would make such a statement but I am not bothered because what I am fighting for is bigger than anybody’s comment. I am sure that when she saw the response from Nigerians, she knew that she had messed up but ego would not let her delete the comment. It is just like the video she later did where she was insulting people. Although she later deleted it, unfortunately, it was too late for her because the bloggers had picked it up.”

CelebritiesAGN President, Emeka Rollas Dares Pascal Atuma To Name Prostitutes In Nollywood by 11Ebiscoo(op): 10:41am On Jun 23, 2018
President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas has reacted to a recent statement attributed to a movie producer, Screen writer, director, Mr. Pascal Atuma, that for one to succeed in the motion picture industry, one has to be a prostitute.

Atuma had in a recent interview claimed that Nollywood is being “controlled by pimps”

He further advised upcoming actors and filmmakers not to be deceived by the glamorous lifestyles they see on social media.

“If you are not a full time or semi-prostitute, you will not make it in Nollywood,” he had claimed.

Angry Rollas, while reacting to the claim, said that it was unfortunate for the person of Atuma who had benefited immensely from the input of these so called ‘prostitutes’ and ‘pimps’ to utter such irresponsible statement.

He told DAILY POST that: “It is sad that one who prides himself a producer and screenwriter to make such baseless and reckless statement. It is these so called ‘prostitutes’ and ‘pimps’ that have been sustaining him. What he is saying is that everyone that has been toiling to give his movies meaningful interpretation so that he would sell and feed are prostitutes.

“For his information and to others who have this nonsensical mentality, the Actors Guild of Nigeria is a responsible body that has contributed immensely to the economy of this country. Our fame has grown beyond what many expects.

“We are good ambassadors of this country. Every successful actor has earned his or her worth by dint of hardwork, personal improvement and the collective support of Nigerians who have abiding faith in our trade. I also want to challenge Atuma to name names of the prostitutes if he is sure of his hollow claim.”

Already, top actors are beginning to reply Atuma. Ruth Kadiri has warned Atuma to stop generalizing, maintaining that she is a successful filmmaker and not a prostitute.

PoliticsAtiku’s Ally Drags Buhari To Court For Honouring MKO Abiola, Gani, Kingibe by 11Ebiscoo(op): 8:20am On Jun 21, 2018
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Adamawa State and political ally of former Vice President, Atiku Abubaka, Dr. Umar Ardo, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to set aside the posthumous national honours conferred on the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, the late Chief M.K.O Abiola, and human rights activist, the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi.

Ardo, a former Special Assistant on Research and Strategy to Atiku Abubakar, also asked the court to strip Abiola’s running mate in the 1993 presidential election, Babagana Kingibe, of the national honour conferred on him.

Ardo filed his motion on June 14 seeking the nullification of the conferment of the honours as a follow-up to the main suit which he earlier filed on June 11 seeking to stop the investiture ceremony.

He had filed the suit marked, FHC/ABJ/CS/609/2018, contending that “without the advice of the Council of State,” the President lacked the power to confer the national honours as planned.

He joined the President, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), as the defendants.

The President had on June 12 proceeded to posthumously confer the highest national honour of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic on Abiola for the significant contribution of June 12, 1993 presidential election to Nigeria’s democracy.

But Ardo, through his lawyer, Doueyi Fiderikumo, filed his motion on June 14, seeking, “An order setting aside the conferment of national honours on the late Chief MKO Abiola, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe and the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN.”

As part of the grounds for the application, the plaintiff stated in an affidavit filed in support of the motion, “After the institution of the present suit, I served a letter on the defendants/respondents drawing their attention to the existence of the present suit and urged them to stay action on the conferment of honors on the trio of late Chief M.K.O. Abiola, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe and late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN, pending the hearing of the case before this court.

“I also served on the said defendants advance copy of the originating processes in the suit and the pending motion for interlocutory injunction along with the said letter.”

The case is yet to be assigned to a judge at the moment.

‘Resurrected’ singer Skiibi, has revealed that he was literally a pauper while he was with Five Star Music.

In a new interview with Sunday Scoop, the singer noted that while still a signee with the label, he was always broke and was not a good singer.

“I am hundred per cent a better person since I left Five Star Music. When I was at Five Star, I didn’t think I could shoot a video on my own. But it is a different story now. Apart from music, I can do a lot of things on my own. Now, I can take care of my family and pay salaries. When I was with Five Star, I didn’t always have money; I was a boy. If I went to a show, we would share the money and my percentage couldn’t take care of my responsibilities.”

PoliticsTension As Air Force Jets Bomb Benue Villages by 11Ebiscoo(op): 11:11am On Jun 17, 2018
Fighter jets of the Nigerian Air Force conducted air strikes on at least three Benue State communities on Saturday, in an operation which lasted several hours.

The development sent the communities panicking.

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya, who confirmed the air strikes, noted that it was an ongoing operation and that he could not reveal further details.

Adesanya said, “It is true that the NAF aircrafts are involved in an operation together with other security services in Katsina-Ala. But the operation is still ongoing and I cannot disclose further details.”

It was gathered that the air strikes were carried out along the Katsina-Ala to Zaki Biam and Wukari Road and that the affected villages included Gbise, Ayaka and environs.

The air strikes came barley one week after some hoodlums, dressed in military camouflage, attacked the Commander of the Nigerian Army Engineering Corps, Maj Gen John Malu, in his hometown in Tse Adoor, Tiir Ward, Tongov in the Katsina-Ala LGA of Benue State.

The source said, “Gbise, Ayaka and other nearby villages in Katsina-Ala were on Saturday bombarded by the air force. These are reprisal attacks by the military to clear the hoodlums who attacked Maj Gen Malu when he was home last week.

“There were mortars, artillery pieces, assault rifles and aerial bombardments.”

PoliticsMy Father Never Took A Bribe – Ex-cbn Deputy Governor, Moghalu by 11Ebiscoo(op): 7:56am On Jun 15, 2018
Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Moghalu, has claimed his father never took a bribe in his 35 years in the civil service.

Moghalu, who is also a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), stated this while speaking with reporters in Lagos.

He said his father, who worked as diplomat in Geneva, Switzerland, had a huge influence on him.

“My family background pretty much shaped me. My father was in the civil service for most part of his life; my father had a very important influence in my life for two reasons, one, ethics and morality.

“I remember him as a very jovial man. When we were growing up; he would beat his chest and say 35 years as a civil servant I never took a bribe, so I was impressed by that and it helped in shaping me. It makes me think of my background.

“My family is a family of five, I was the first child so I grew up being a leader. I had not only a value system but a strong sense of responsibility placed on my shoulders right from when I was young.”

“In those days, my parents will delegate authority to me to discipline my siblings; they used to call me, Okoli the headmaster, I mean I had my cane, so those kinds of things place some responsibilities on you where you have to live up to expectation.

“These are the little but important things that shaped my personality and worldview,” Moghalu said.

Politics2019: Why I Dumped PDP For LP – Mimiko by 11Ebiscoo(op): 10:17pm On Jun 14, 2018
A former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has explained why he dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the Labour Party, LP.

The former governor formally dumped the PDP, on Wednesday to rejoin the Labour Party.

Mimiko who spoke to reporters after obtaining the LP card at his ward in Ondo town, said his decision to return to LP was borne out of the need to “catalyze a greater focus on the ideological content of the Nigerian political firmament.”

He said, “We have come with the conviction, consequent upon several years of practical involvement in the nation’s political process, that the need for ideologically focused political engagement is now more pressing than ever before.

“Virtually all the existing political parties in Nigeria today belong to the right of the centre, ensconced as it were in a neo-liberal mental construct, the name or mantra they choose to enrobe themselves in notwithstanding.

“This is evident not in terms of the pretentious claims they make to ideological purity, but in the way and manner, they have used power; including the extent to which they have mainstreamed the interest and welfare of the weak and poor in our society.

“This ideological fluidity, within which the nation’s extant democracy has evolved since 1999, deserves now to be fully interrogated, with a view to engendering a transition to a more ideologically defined system of engagement.

“We have come to the conclusion that these are the missing links in our political process, which have tended to make an all-comers game of it, and one in which the interest of the mass of the people has been greatly marginalized in several of our governance spaces, since 1999.

“The decision was also not borne out of any disagreement with LP, either ideologically or operationally. It was simply a decision that we needed to take in the higher interest of our country.

“We particularly had in focus the agenda of restructuring, which frontier the then president had extended a bit by convoking the National Conference. We thus felt compelled to work with his party, hoping that his victory in the 2015 election, would translate the vision of restructuring the Nigerian federation into reality

“We thought helping to elect a presidential candidate that had demonstrated this commitment to the restructuring of the country was well worth the risk associated with our having to step out of our LP platform onto PDP, on which the former president was running.

“Even now, restructuring remains for us the critical plank without which the much-needed stability and functionality of our country cannot be procured.”
