MsSantaClaus:

So how do you pick it up? You need to call the embassy or VHF at once and tell them you were not given a slip.
I think I should receive a confirmation email when the time is right, however, if ders anyone tht can help me with a number to call i'll love it.
Thanks

I guess u didn't try to cancel early enough. For not appearing, the opportunity is just once. You should be able to schedule another appointment for free. Try to do that on ur appointment portal and see what response it brings.

Hello house, pls l need people's advice about an issue; l was denied F1 visa twice last month and am planning to reapply this month. On my last two ds-160, l lied that l dont have any immediate relative in US, but my brother is schooling and my sister is american citizen. I only did that to increase my chances of getting d visa. I want to know my chances of getting the visa this time if l put it that l have relatives in US and l want to knw if this wont cause another denial cos l wanna get it right this time....pls l need people's opinion abt this...In addition, my mum is US resident (She has Green card), but she's back in Nigeria. Should l put it that she's in America on DS-160 or l should just pick NO...pls i need people's advice...tnx

Why did u lie that u don't have relatives in the US. One thing we have not realised is that we have a better chance of visa approval when we have families or relatives in the US. (If LEGIT).
If your application profile and ur response during interview was good, then u have deduced urself that the lie is what is causing ur denial.
When I went for my interview in abuja, people who had relatives in the US got approvals, they were just asked few questions and I observed the vo's just wanted consistency in their response.
Fact is, I even started thinking it is better to include answer yes when answering the 'do u have relatives in d US' on d ds160. At least most of us have one relative or the other. This is my own opinion.
The fact that your sister is even american citizen makes it good. A guy, an american citizen was with his mum during my interview, he was just feeling cool and smiling at the chinko. He didn't move close o, just standind feets away.
Make ammendments. Be prepared to defend d changes. Wish u success

You did quite great in your test. Congratulations

As regards your question, first of all, GRE is valid for 5 years so you have no problem as regards using it for admission within the time span.

You might need to explain your gap to the visa officer during your interview if asked and it's tenable to say you have been working to get more working experience and also raise some funds for your graduate studies.

Your are on track with your plans. God bless your hustling.

Good score. I don't think you should have any problem with your decision as it is one that will make you save towards your intended program. Personally, it will take the likes of Chevron,Exxonmobil, etc to stop me temporarily from embarking on my program abroad because my projections in 10years to this time is what I am living for. GRE scores is valid for 5years so, the ball is in your court. I wish you all the best.

Midi20 said it all. My case is kinda similar to yours but different in the sense that my brother is a citizen but not residing in the US at the moment. I said NO in my last interview and it was perhaps one of the reasons for my denial.

In your case, your relative is a citizen and even live there. Perhaps the VO figured out you have a relative and there you are lying you don't.

My advice, be truthful in your next application and hope for the best. All in all, it's always a case of 50-50 when you have a relative there as you might be seen as an intending immigrant. Try to work on your home ties and let the VO sees beyond all reasonable doubt that you will return.

All da best.

Ricky Rozay: Hello guys,

I intend studying Business Administration & Management.

If the VO ask me, What is your area of specialisation? What should my response be?

I have seen some peeps get denied in previous threads due to failure to get an accurate answer to this question stated above..

I already have an answer to this question, but I just want hear your suggestions to know if I'm right. Just want to confirm.

Thnx guys...
Firstly, match the course stated in your I-20 with the one you stated above and if they are same, bombard the VO with a mouth watering response. If it is otherwise, you can explain further to show that you know exactly what you are doing. Wish you all the best 'Diego Simeon'!

The GRE is valid for a period of 5years however, some top schools don't take GRE scores more than 2years old. They wouldn't disturb you as you can easily explain that you chose to get some work experience so that after your studies, you can come back to get better position based on your experience and new qualification.

I would suggest you say the truth. I have heard a similar story like yours and whenever the guy filled it rightly that he has siblings who were in the US working the VO gave him and told him that was the reason for his initial denials. I think it is an advantage to you particularly if they went to study there and never fell out of status nor engaged in shady deals.
Let me tell you another story I heard this year, a guy got his visa approved although he lied he had no relatives in the US however, whenever he got to JFK, they asked if he had siblings in the US and he said no. They took him to a section and on the system, they brought up his brother's details who came visiting and never went back, got his papers through marriage and is now living in Dallas. They also showed him that of his brother-in-law. His brother once invited the sister and her husband and whenever they got to the US, the brother-in-law chose to stay back and the sister returned. They showed him that they all used same address whenever they were applying that belong to their dad.
The moral of the story is that, we cannot tell what kind of check they carry out and who they carry out those checks on thus, the need to be truthful in all our dealings with them.

Thnx bro.. Does this mean that when the VO ask me; what is your area of specialisation?

I should probably respond with my intended course Major. Which is Business Administration & Management.

I was actually planning on telling him my Area of Specialisation is Management..

What do u tink?

Or should I just go with the Full name of my major if asked like the way you stated above...
