The great man died a Biafran, let him rest in peace. He made his choice and we all need to respect him for that and celebrate him as a Biafran. I'm sure the Biafran flag will be in half mast today.

R.I.P Chinua Achebe.

You have only one life on earth, after it the judgement of God follows..Repent of your sinful lifestyle, accept Jesus Christ into your life now...failure to do so and you die...Hell fire in torment forever.
Re: Prof Chinua Achebe Is Dead! by blessed4ever: 2:08pm On Mar 22, 2013
Is it when you die, you will serve God. It is now you should cut off from sins, give your life to Jesus Christ, so that you can get to heaven and not hell fire.
1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Tunjman: Our nationalists tried to build an enviable nation, one that would have a flourishing economy and a perfect political landscape. Of course, their efforts yielded good result, they laid down a platform for true federalism until self-centered and political jobbers started making THINGS FALL APART…When state creation started, regional development gave way to state development and states with less resources were NO LONGER AT EASE…Our common wealth was used to build a state- of –the- art presidential villa at Abuja where they thought would be free from external aggression and attack from hungry Nigerians forgetting that ARROW OF GOD is stronger than all nuclear weapons put together…They detached themselves totally from the people they govern, none of them cared to be A MAN OF THE PEOPLE…Good leadership became scarce like ANTHILLS OF THE SAVANNAH...I’m afraid, if today’s youths don’t question the status quo, the only tale they would tell generation unborn is THERE WAS A COUNTRY.

R.I.P Prof. Chinua Achebe

Brilliant !!! cheesy

ypzilanti:

The man even put it in the title for the dullards.

There was a country: a personal history of Biafra.

But the goats do not know what a memoir is...personal recollection. It is not a history book, and not meant to be a history book. It is a personal recollection that should be countered by other personal recollections. That is how they do it in obodo oyibo.

Yea, ur ryt! The book showed his personal hatred for other ethnic groups in Nigeria.

Don't blame some people for celebrating his death.

He wanted so much to become a Hero, (Like Wole Soyinka) He messed with the Yoruba sage Awolowo, in his “there was a country” to sustain a tribal bigotry ; he pitched his tenth with The Neros of this world (America) and died as a Zero. I am sure he will NOT be buried in America where he ran off to hide
Death riding on wings of age and feebleness took him and His little honor which he threw away in his “There was a Country” It took him over forty years to show his hatred or rather he harbored his resentment for the Yoruba people who paved the way for his “erudite” Things fall apart.

Remember you will die and if you do not repent and stop all this pollution, immorality, unclean and defiled thoughts and fornication you are into, you sure will enter hell fire. You are therefore warned now before it gets too late for you. Jesus Christ is holy.He loves your soul, and wants to save you, that's the reason you are receiving this gospel.

Eko Ile:

But Achebe not only didn't show no respect for the dead/Awo, he insulted Awo and his people. It's Ok to respect your ashebe, but don't ask other people to because he didn't earn that respect and especially for a mean spirited and vindictive bitter old man who refused to act like an elder or respect himself.

What goes around comes around.

What goes around comes around, yeah someday you will die and having not made a mark like Achebe or Awo for that matter you will not be mourned like some discerning Yorubas and Igbos mourn Achebe.

At a town hall interview in Abeokuta, during the 1983 elections, Chief Awolowo had said: "So I decided to stop sending the food there. In the process the civilians would suffer, but the soldiers will suffer most." Premunium Times newspaper published 8/10/2013. The truth is that Awolowo did have a starvation policy implemented. The book There was a Country was the personal memoirs of the man and he did have a right to his opinion and from the above, he wasn't entirely wrong either. Achebe on the other hand was not entirely right about Awo's true intentions.

We need to have some of these discussions as a nation because if we don't address our mistakes and seek true reconciliation, we cannot make proper head way as a nation. However let us today respect an undoubted father of African literature at least for his works and put aside any misgivings and sentiments we may have about his PERSONAL memoirs. It may be hard to be objective after seeing 2 million of your kinsmen killed not by guns or bombs but by hunger and disease.

And so 2day i join the rest of the world in saying RIP to a Great Man, May God rest your soul

Nigerian author Chinua Achebe has died, the spokesman for the Anambra state government and his publisher have said.

His home state of Anambra, in south-eastern Nigeria, was in mourning for its "illustrious son", the spokesman, Mike Udah, told the BBC .

Mr Achebe, 82, was one of Africa's best known authors. His 1958 debut novel Things Fall Apart has sold more than 10 million copies.

He had been living in the US since 1990 following injuries from a car crash.

The writer and academic wrote more than 20 works - some fiercely critical of politicians and a failure of leadership in Nigeria.

Shortly after the Anambra government announcement, Mr Achebe's London publisher Penguin confirmed his death.

Last year, Mr Achebe published a long-awaited memoir about the brutal three-year Biafran war - when the south-eastern Igbo region tried to split from Nigeria in 1967.

After leaving Nigeria, he worked in the US as a professor. His 1990 car accident left him paralysed from the waist down and in a wheelchair.

A statement of the Nelson Mandela Foundation said it offered its condolences to the Achebe family.

Did you ever see a picture of a scrawny looking Biafran soldier? Ojukwu and Achebe thought it was proper to feed the soldiers and use starving children as props for their propaganda war. We already know what happened.
