Consequently, as part of deliberate efforts to ensure
that employment opportunities which would result
from the sectors’ privatisation are taken up, as much
as possible, by Nigerians, the federal government,
through the National Power Training Institute of
Nigeria (NAPTIN) has resuscitated the hitherto
dormant structured training to fill the huge skill gap
in the sector. To this end, government has released
the sum of N50 billion to NAPTIN to boost its
operations.
It is estimated that the power sector needs a
minimum of 17,000 skilled workers to generate the
projected 40,000MW by 2020 with about 8,000
skilled workers needed in the short term. The huge
skills gap, according to the director- general of
NAPTIN, Engr. Reuben Okeke, resulted as a
consequence of the absence of structured
employment and training in the sector since 1998.
Okeke said since that time, there has been no
structured recruitment exercise in the sector
needless to talk about structured training, as
workers were being engaged on casual basis.
Okeke had warned that by 2015, there would be no
structurally trained engineer left in the sector as all
those who benefited from such training would have
retired, thus necessitating the urgent need to
reposition NAPTIN to conduct the much needed
specialised training.
Speaking during the first graduation ceremony of
NAPTIN Graduate Skills Development Programme
(NGSDP) recently, the minister of power, Prof.
Chinedu Nebo, while stressing the importance of
capacity building in driving the Nigerian economy
forward, regretted that Nigeria unfortunately at a
time started moving backwards in the area of
capacity development for the sector’s workers.
Nebo, who lauded the training programme,
described it as a step in the right direction and
added that no country could develop without a
reservoir of skilled workers in the technical field. A
total of 243 engineers, comprising 9 generation
company trainees, 79 transmission company
trainees and 72 distribution company trainees
passed through NAPTIN’s pioneer training
programme and were recently awarded their
certificates.

We should not totally rule-out the possibility of our resumption this year and the likelihood of getting our pay in full starting from september till date. While surfing through the internet about TCN information, I got two numbers and their Abuja address. That address was correct but I don't know how authentic are those numbers in connection with TCN information centre.

I just made call to the headquarters now. I also got the same info with blessmyij. The staff said there is no problem about our employment and that there is no cause for alarm. She said d delay in our documentation and resumption of duty was due to some staffers who have not received their severance payment. She said those staff won't be happy seen us resuming duty. She said as soon as those concerned get paid, they are going to text us back.

To everybody in dis forum, I beg u IJN don't put in for d advertisement above. It is a bad way of making money. Though, financially you will make profit but socially, it will make you infidel. I know that a lot of us are sound mathematically. If u can take ur time to discern what this program is all abt u will realized there is N200 change going into d pocket of d pioneer of this program: who sits somewhere claiming to be a pastor and robbing people of their money in d name of wealth creation. Yes, he is actually creating wealth but for himself while others are labouring in vain.
This so call program has been around for a while but it is now in soft copy which is more deadly than the hard copy. During d hard copy era of this program, they opened offices with officers working for them. But after few weeks of operation, they just shut their offices and disappear. Now, internet version has been adopted as their soft copy. As I said, the soft copy version is more deadly because during d hard copy version u can still run after them for ur money but now u cannot do that.

You ask why I am bitterly concern abt this? Yes, I am concern because I will never and ever allow my enemy to fall victim talkless of u.

Let me chip in one of my experiences with them. As I completed my NYSC program in year 2012, while thinking of the way forward, a lady-friend of mine introduced me to one of this programs named WEALTH SOLUTION. To participate, I purchased a form worth of N10k from my friend who in return gave me another five forms to sell for N10k each before I could retrieve my capital and begin to making profit. Before I ventured into this program, I did my permutations and combinations very well and I knew d risks involved. I knew it was not a good business but all d same I ventured into it out of greediness which I later regretted.

The five forms I was given have to be sold for N10K each. Out of each sale, N2k went into my account, another N2k went into d accounts of three of my up-links and the remaining N2k into one special account. After the sales of d forms, I realized my capital but awaiting profit. But the people I sold d forms to are my close friends who could not sell one form talkless of d five forms. As a result of this, I didn't make profit while my friends could not make their capital. On realizing that my friends could not sell their forms, I felt bad not because of my profit but because of their capital: to help them sell their forms, 25 forms, now became my responsibility. To sell the forms is not a problem to me but I realized that I will end-up in a bigger problem because the people that I still market d forms to are known people to me who can easily access me if anything went wrong. What it means is that I will have 25 people with 125 forms on my neck while d large part of their capital is not even in my custody.

To cut d story short, I volunteered to refund them their capital which my best friend rejected. Since then he never called me and never return my missed calls.

I lost my good friend of donkey years: who had been there for me in most facet of youth-hood. Since then I have disliked short corner to success.
