Awka — THE Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has emerged winners of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Imperial Barrel Award competed by African universities.

The university came first, scoring 79.33 percent, while Helwan University, Egypt and the Federal University of Technology, Akure came second and third respectively.

Eight universities in Nigeria participated in the competition, including Federal University of Technology, Owerri; University of Lagos; University of Ilorin; Enugu State University of Science and Technology; Nnamdi Azikiwe University; Federal University of Technology, Akure; University of Ibadan and University of Calabar.

When it comes to learning they are second to none, even their biochemistry dept, also stuned the 15 universities in Unn last year, their law faculty also did the same. They dont make noise like others. Just meet one graduate you wil be wowed

OBAFEMI Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, has been rated the first and best university in Nigeria and 14th in Africa by the Webometric Ranking of world universities.

In the last rating, the university was ranked eighth in Nigeria and 79 in Africa.

Oil and gas contribute only a paltry 15% of our GDP, reason being that we only do mostly exploration and refining outside the country, ofcourse we gain FX but it does not create value in nigeria, unlike agriculture dt contribute at least 30% of our GDP after industries and services!
