eugeneric: pls robonski, am using an earthen pond and just switched to local feeds. since it doesnt float(the local feed) i am worried if the fishes are eating it as i dnt see enough activities once the feed enters under water. any idea how to decipher if they are eating it or not will be helpful. cos am freaking out.

TOKUGAWA: did u starve them for like a day or two b4 switching?if so dnt bother urself,they are gonna eat it.since its a sinking feed u cnt see dem eat it.Jst make sure ur feed is well binded when milling.

TOKUGAWA: That's why I said u starve dem an introduce gradually.I bet u dey r eating it.Good binding only prevents d feed from disolving intantly b4 d fish picks it up.u knw catfish are bottom feeders in nature.

eugeneric: thanks tokugawa for ur reply. the feed is 4mm and the fish is around 4 months old. i will starve them then re introduce the feed as ur suggested. bt my fear is that if i keep givin these non floating feed an the dnt eat it by the time i want to dispose of them wont it become difficult cos they may not hv grown matured enough. and lastly what can one give to clarias to give them weight.

excelsiorfarm: hmmmm, if you manage them well & good seeds, from juvenile, u should have your table size from now to a month Time max, but d truth is they are underfed & i can conclude that water mgt needs improvement for yr fishes to eat better. Except u intend or raisin melange or runts,which from juvenile,must had be attained(if well fed).if in earthen pond,possible to get extra feed alternative eg plantons or tilapias are available

excelsiorfarm: to prevent stress,do good water mgt & dont overstock,dont overfeed, also handle them well when sorting. biovit or livestovit will help & most drugs used against stress for poultry

Kul3ger: sir can i make use of 'CORYL SP' an antibacterial multivitamin meant 4 poultry for fishes?
