The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) is a higher education institution engaged in imparting knowledge, skills and learning to students using specialized facilities and a multi-disciplinary approach. It is a centre of excellence for serious innovative research and development for the aerospace, aeronautical, aviation and allied industries/disciplines.

Academic Programme
Candidates seeking employment at AFIT should possess appropriate skill levels in aerospace/aeronautical engineering, electrical/electronics engineering communication engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering and Non Destructive Testing. Position: Senior Lecturer (CONPCASS 11 N1, 927,668-2,726,028 PA).
Qualifications
Minimum of a higher degree such as doctorate or its equivalent.
Minimum of 8 years of teaching, research and/or professional experience in a university or an institution of university status or a comparable institution.
He/she should show evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences.
He/she should have a research track record and also demonstrate evidence of supervision of research work of scholars up to doctorate level.
Membership of international professional associations.
He/she should show evidence of consultancy activities.
Candidates’ experience in working with interdisciplinary groups is an added advantage.

Position: Lecturer I (CONPCASS 08 Nl.319.880 1.962.552 PA).
Qualifications
Minimum of a higher degree such as doctorate or its equivalent.
Minimum of 6 years of teaching, research and/or professional experience in a university or an institution of university status or a comparable institution.
He/she should show evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences.
He/she should have a research track record and also demonstrate evidence of supervision of research work of scholars up to masters degree level.

Position: Lecturer II (CONPCASS 07 N1, 136,628 -1,741, 464 PA).
Qualifications
Minimum of a higher degree such as doctorate or its equivalent.
Minimum of 4 years of teaching, research and/or professional experience in a university or an institution of university status or a comparable institution.
He/she should show evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences.
He/she should have a research track record and also demonstrate evidence of supervision of research work of scholars at undergraduate level.

Position: Assistant Lecturer (CONPCASS 06 N960, 000.00 – 1,440,000.00 PA)
Qualifications
Minimum of master’s degree in relevant areas.
Minimum of 3 years of teaching, research and/or professional experience in a university or an institution of university status or a comparable institution.
He/she should show evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences.

Position: Director of Research and Development (CONPCASS 14 N3.628.872 4.707.288 PA)
Qualifications
Minimum of a higher degree such as doctorate or its equivalent.
Minimum of 8 years of teaching, research and/or professional experience in a university or an institution of university status or a comparable institution.
He/she should show evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences.
He/she should have a research track record and also demonstrate evidence of supervision of research work of scholars up to doctorate level.
He/she should demonstrate strong potential for research and scholarly activities.

Qualifications
Minimum of higher degree such as M.Sc or its equivalent.
Minimum of 15 years cognate working experience.
Fellowship of an appropriate body such as the Nigerian Institute of Science and Technology or the Institute of Science and Technology.
He/she should demonstrate evidence for leadership in administration responsibilities.

Position: Assistant Chief Technologist (CONPCASS 12 N2.130.168 2.989.464 PA).

Qualifications
Minimum of higher degree such as M.Sc or its equivalent.
Minimum of 10 years cognate working experience.
Fellowship of an appropriate body such as the Nigerian Institute of Science and Technology or the Institute of Science and Technology.
He/she should demonstrate evidence for leadership in administration responsibilities.

Position: Principal Technologist (CONPCASS 11 N1.927.66B 2.726.028 PA).
Qualifications
Minimum of higher degree such as M.Sc or its equivalent.
Minimum of 7 years cognate working experience.
Fellowship of an appropriate body such as the Nigerian Institute of Science and Technology or the Institute of Science and Technology.

Qualifications

Not less than 5 years cognate working experience.

Position: Technologist I/Technologist II (CONPCASS 08/07 N1, 319,880/ N1.962.672/ N1, 741.464PA).
Qualifications
Minimum of higher degree such as B.sc, HND or its equivalent.
Candidates for the post of Technologist II must not have less than 2 years cognate working experience.
Membership of an appropriate body such as the Nigerian Institute of Science and Technology or the Institute of Science and Technology.

If at the point of application for job in any organisation and u are asked to provide the above details, u can choose to ignore and do as u like. it might not be detrimental to anyone but a suitable qualified applicant would be worried when the HR department of a supposedly 'centre of excellence' inquire about 'place of birth' 'state of origin; or 'local government'


We can actually do something about it- the reason why 15 copies of CV, place of birth, marital status are still be asked like they taught those HR managers 30years ago; is that not enough people questioned the rationale behind such petty/silly questions especially as they have absolutely no bearings on applicants' competencies
