Keshi releases list of 25 players for May 31 friendly against Mexico

Coach of the Super Eagles Stephen Keshi, has unveiled his 25-man squad for the international match against Mexico on May 31, at the Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.

The game is part of the Eagles preparation for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and the two 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.

Nine players from the Nigeria Professional Football League make the list, with Sunshine Stars providing three.

 

Goalkeepers: Chigozie Agbim (Warri Wolves/NGA), Austin Ejide (Hapoel/ISR), Vincent Enyeama (Maccabi Tel Aviv/ISR)

Defenders: Azubuike Egwuekwe (Warri Wolves/NGA), Efe Ambrose (Celtic/SCO), Elderson Echiéjilé (Sporting de Braga/POR), Kenneth Omeruo (ADO Den Haag/NED), Godfrey Oboabona (Sunshine Stars/NGA), Solomon Kwambe (Sunshine Stars/NGA), Francis Benjamin (Heartland F.C./NGA), Odunlami Kunle (Sunshine Stars FC/NGA)

Good things looking bright for Nigerian football, always been a great admirer of coaches who understand that a mix of local and foreign players gives stability rather than just calling every foreign based player (even those warming benches) to adorn the National jersey.

Again as much as the results matter, what I would love to see is an improvement on the foundation that the new coaching staff are gradually building..Emenike was a big loss in our last qualifier and this is where i wonder whether the coaching staff have adequate replacements to fill big voids..

Osaze used to be good. He will single-handedly ruin this team if included...keshi is a colossus btw.

not the strongest if u ask me! But good all the same.......... But i think a call up to Lukeman would have been fair.... This is the best we have anyway, they'll get stronger with time.

We lost Emenike to injury chei,but Tonny Ujah is doing well i must say. I don,t know y Sidny Sam refuse to show up! boyj are doing well om German Bundesliga. All through gd list from Kelshi.
