Gov Akpabio Bags Best Governor In Africa Award


Akwa Ibom State governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, has bagged the best Governor in Africa Award from an Accra-based Africa Development Magazine, for his development strides in the state.



Presenting the award in Accra, Ghana, renowned Ghanaian Professor, Walter Alhassan, described Governor Akpabio as an icon of democracy and a good example of what leadership should represent.

He said that available and verifiable facts singled out Chief Akpabio as a pride of Africa, worthy of emulation.

Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Soma Brown recounted the numerous achievements of the Akpabio administration in Akwa Ibom State, but particularly noted the free, compulsory and qualitative education policy; free medical care for pregnant women, children and the aged; and the massive infrastructural investment as key reasons for the award conferred on Governor Akpabio.

Receiving the award, Governor Akpabio, represented by his Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, thanked the magazine for considering him for the global honour.

What do they mean by `Best Governor` in Africa?
How many countries are demarcated into States as we have in Nigeria? And how many have the amount of money these our thieving Governors lord over? How many?
The kind of money Apkabio controls is what some countries run on.
Indeed, the man bought this spurious award to further lend credence to his status as a megalomaniac.

Next thing they will say is GEJ bags best African president!

Well, he has done well. There is no doubt about that. If the award had gone to a mediocrity then we can have issues with it. As it is, no one knows the criteria used by the judges but we can accept that the award has been conferred on someone who has actually led well with administrative conduct that is an example for others.

So one unknown newspaper for Ghana dey use Akpabio do fundraising na him all of una dey gather?
The gov don try sha but the paper has no known authority to give such an award.
but good for them, at least some Akwa Ubom petrodollar don enter their pocket.
