More than 72,000 Tumblr posts were migrated to WordPress after news of Yahoo's acquisition of Tumblr broke, WordPress CEO Matt Mullenweg has revealed in a blogpost. WordPress saw the uptick in transfers after news spread of Yahoo's plan to acquire photo-blogging website Tumblr for $1.1bn. "Normally we import 400-600 posts an hour from Tumblr, last hour it was over 72,000," he wrote on Sunday evening, before later adding: "Some people are reading too much into the import numbers — I don't think there will be an exodus from Tumblr." But if the exodus was sparked by concerns about how the acquisition might change Tumblr, fans may be pleased to hear Yahoo CEO Marissa Meyer promise not to ruin the blogging platform in a post on her own Tumblr. "We promise not to screw it up," she wrote. "Tumblr is incredibly special and has a great thing going. We will operate Tumblr independently. "David Karp will remain CEO. The product roadmap, their team, their wit and irreverence will all remain the same as will their mission to empower creators to make their best work and get it in front of the audience they deserve. Yahoo! will help Tumblr get even better, faster." Tumblr currently hosts 105 million blogs and gets 120,000 sign-ups every day, according to Mayer. Yahoo confirmed the $1.1bn cash deal for Tumblr on Monday morning. The deal is expected to be completed in the second half of this year. (Quote) (Report) (Like) Yahoo is actually a very profitable company. Despite their good earnings, wall street still see's it fit to under value them. D migration shows dat Tumblr still has a positive net migration. |

akintun: WASTE Profitable? I wouldn't speculate nor speak out on what I haven't researched yet, but for your company to have a valued, you got to bring something to the table. Yahoo has long lost their value as a company though "perhaps" they may be profitable. |
