Reference:I kinda disagree. As a Soldier it is imperative that the uniform standards are met at all times especially in a combat zone. I'd rather be protected than feel comfortable. Try wearing a flak vest, NVG, kevlar and still have your weapon slung when performing everyday tasks. It's not easy but that is where repetitive training discipline comes into it. The enemy won't exactly tell you when they are coming, will they? For me, we are taught that your rifle must never be more than the distance of your arm away from you and your kevlar must always be on your head except during chow in the field. Irrespective of military designation, be it cook, infantry, combat engineer, when in a combat zone, you are infantry first and military designation second for the simple reason that you might be attacked anytime and the enemy won't distinguish between cook and infantry man. But like i said, we don't know what the uniform policy of the Nigerian army during combat operations. |
munas:'nuff said. |
Only in Nigeria. The daughter of a convicted embezzler is vying for public office. In a civilized country, public opinion would have denied her the luxury of contesting, but not in Nigeria. Normally, any family stain of this nature should wake people up to the fact she could potentially do same or worse. But like i said, Nigerians don't think like that. |
xreal:Or, they are not just disciplined enough to wear it/their supervisors are not enforcing the uniform standards/probably there are no uniform standards. |
mikporch:It's called talent bro, and it'll do you good to recognize it. He is a rare Nigerian using what he has to get what he needs in a honest fashion. As long as he is not using illegal means to generate wealth and people are willing to pay for his services, who are we to criticize? |
Optimisticgondy:Dormant accounts can be tricky. To GTB, it is same as the account being closed. Your sister needs to physically show up at the bank to re open the account. I hope that helps. What confuses me is the amount you deposited should not have been accepted in the first place. |
Ilekeh:Lol.... |
Ilekeh:Holy crap. That country is really messed up. Insurance for show. I am going to file that as "another reason not to ever make plans to relocate back there". Ever. |
autoinfo:Need someone to educate me about insurance in Nigeria. Do people really have it or is it for show? |
Emytexboy:Now we know what you do on your free time. Can someone say "profile scanning?" |
james669:Its not on youtube and in this day and age where everyone and everything in on youtube. So, verdict; it did not happen. |
tochimajesty:I would advice you to leave the stress free job and migrate to the one loaded with stress. At least that is all we crave in life; more stress and high blood pressure. ![]() |
modestbrowser:And that bros, is the reason why Nigerians are living in bondage. The looters are betting that since it's "long and boring" and the picture of half naked nollywood stars and Psquare are not in it, Nigerians won't be interested. Even though there are pertinent information in it. |
adeniranfam:Nigerian's politics is the weirdest i have ever seen. What has coffins have to do with politics for God's sake. Worse still is most Nigerians see nothing wrong with this mentality. Election time, Nigerians will be like "oh my God, why are people killing each other?". Theatricals like this is the reason why. This do or die mentality needs to stop. |
mmsen:If you are ever in the Bayern area, check out Weiden. It's like lagos Island with a lot less people and cleaner. |

If you really want to enjoy visiting overseas/abroad/Europe, go stay in rural areas that's close to urban cities. No joke, cities overseas can be freaking annoying and irritating. Case in point, Paris, Frankfurt, Holland for example. Too many people and very very rude, especially Paris. Rural areas have nothing but clean air, minimal traffic, courteous people and plenty of parking space. And there are plenty of historical landmarks to see especially in Germany and England. If you want to club and party + pick up chicks, by all means, the city is what you want. If you like smoking Ganja then Holland is where you want. Its freaking legal. |
Bitojoe:Beautiful, yes, they are. I wouldn't frak with them though. They can be totally nuts. If you want peace, hook up and marry a yoruba woman after thorough screening. Peace of mind for life. |
ibrokola:Like i said: Nigerian logic and reasoning at it's finest. |
SirShymexx:Roger that. |
SirShymexx:Nigerian logic will always amaze me. |
Missy89:An academy which is part of a system that i am part of and understand very well. why? the transition from NCO to officer is well engrained in every soldier in case one decides to make the switch. I have never heard of someone just showing up at ROTC or OCS school because of connections. This is not the 18th century where one can just be drafted into service. The days of the draft is over which is exactly why what you have suggested is not possible. It is an all volunteer force where only 1 percent of the population wants to join. This is why i said initially that your views are biased because what you know is people bribing themselves into service and subjecting themselves to the mercies of a quota system. Here, there is no quota system nor the need to bribe. There are recruiters who go out and pretty much beg people to join. That's right, you heard me, They beg. That is also why the army gives bonuses as much as 40k to join. They need raw talent which is why they pay to get qualified people in. So, going by your logic, why do i need connections to get in or bribe my way in when i can get a bonus for joining?. Lastly, i wasn't trying to insult you. The only way you know what you know right now is because you are using google and wiki. I was just stating facts. |
Missy89:That's correct. And oh, i don't know how people get into ivy leagues because i am not in an ivy league school, but i do know how the U.S army works because i am a soldier. |
Missy89:You know what? I need my head examined for arguing with you. You are gathering snipets from google and wiki and throwing it together without understanding the basics. I am giving you first hand information. Being in the reserves does not mean you cannot be an officer or reach the highest grade in the service. The only difference is as a reservist, you are a soldier part time and is only activated to full time when a deployment comes up. After your deployment you go back to being part time. I'm done. Have a good weekend. |
Optimisticgondy:Lol.... |
Missy89:Irrespective of which training or designation you undergo to be part of the service, the climate we have does not give room for what you have suggested. Every soldier is held to the 7 army values. Vice president Joe Biden's Son was just kicked out of the military for conduct unbecoming of an officer. This is the son of the second most powerful person in the world. Why didn't his dad use politics to keep him in? To get in and graduate the military academy is solely based on merit. It is very simple: pass the asvab and you are in. Fail the asvab and you are out. There is no room for knuckle heads. |
Missy89:You are speaking from experience as you know it being a Nigerian living in Nigeria. Are you saying the same applies to the U.S military? Just so you know, i am a NCO in the U.S army, so i know what i am talking about. |
Missy89:Please take everything you have said back. The problem is you are looking at everything from the point of view of a Nigerian, so you biased. Some countries do what you have mentioned but a lot don't. |
drpips1:As i have said many times, if a lot more people would think through their thoughts and actions before engaging in them they would be a lot better off. Now i have to rebutt your infantile comments and at the end you'll be like "damn, i should have kept my mouth shut. Now i look like a. . . ". Here we go: FOR THE NEWBIES: LIVE PROOF I hope to God that everything i have been trying to impart is sinking in because failure to do so will ultimately leave you in a world of hurt. I have been doing this for a long time and i've seen some real phucked up shiiit all in the name of trading. I've done things i am not proud of during my learning stage and still regret them till today. This is the reason that i refuse the ones on this same thread asking me to manage their accounts. So, for starters, do you know that there are ways to doctor an account to such an extent that if i tell you to sell your house and car in other for me to trade your account you would? In the U.S and Europe it would be difficult and i wouldn't try it, but in Nigeria were the concept of money management is still at it's infancy, traders like drpips would swallow it hook, line and sinker. I have done this in the past and it was not pretty nor did it end well. There are some brokers you can sign up with and when you put in a thousand dollars, your platform will reflect a hundred thousand. Lets leave that for a while and ask why would i want to show you proof if not for the ulterior motive of canvassing you to let me manage your account for you. My money is mine and my account is mine. You are not going to shear in it. I've seen traders, who even though they had thousands of dollars in their account, they only had that much because of a pyramid scheme designed in such a way as to give the impression of a valid account. Lets not go too far. On this same thread we've seen how Odiaero was exposed for doing exactly what i have just described. Even if i decided to stoop low and show you live proof, a lot of you would say it is zimbabwean dollars. That has been said here on this very thread. Either you accept what i am telling you or you don't. That is enough for me. Then again, i understand why a lot of traders in Nigeria are the way they are. The economy is phucked up, there are no jobs, everything is hard and yet on FTA there are stories of this wonderful and easy way to make a gazzilion dollars overnight trading forex. Fustration sets in when, after investing in it, nothing is at it seems. The ones spreading this fallacy are the ones hell bent on duping young traders saying forex is just forex. Always ask yourself this question; why would anyone ask to manage your funds. If he is making those millions overnight, then what does he need mine for? There are ways to manage other peoples money. You could open a licensed investment firm or open/invest in a pamm account. A lot of people are angry because i am spoiling business and it is no longer business as usual. I would too if i were them. And some are just pissed that at the idea that anyone can promulgate trading as a long term endeavour. "5 years compounding? WTF, i have school fees/house rent to pay". Well, sorry to burst your bubble, that is just the way it is. In an unfair way as well, i think i am comparing my situation with a lot of traders. I don't need to trade for sustenance. I am trading towards retirement, so ten years means nothing to me. I am very well off. I have a solid career and live in a country where my economic circumstance is very predictable. Maybe that is why i am patient and maybe i shouldn't expect same from everyone. I'm just lucky. 'nuff said. @forexmarts. I appreciate the kind words. |
