One Good Reason To Hang On (3) by SonofIssachar: 1:32am On Jun 07, 2013
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. - 1 Corinthians 10:13

The passage above gives us some more reasons to hang on and remain hopeful in the face of challenges. It may seem harsh, but the Bible says there is hardly a situation that you are facing now that no other person has encountered before. So don’t succumb to devil’s wile to keep you despondent, asking why is your own case different. You have not been singled out for hardship. The Bible stresses that people all over the world are in your same shoe right now (1 Peter 5:9). Some have passed through it before, some are experiencing it presently and many more would experience it after you.

A bigger consolation is also derived from the insight that, firstly, God will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can endure. He will not allow a challenge that is bigger than you into your life; otherwise, He will cease to be a just God. That you are in this situation suggests that you are up to it. If you don’t think so, at least God thinks so; and He should know better than you. You should therefore take heart in the knowledge that the problem, no matter how big it is, is not equal to you.

Secondly, God considers you stronger than the person whom you are envying for not experiencing the same turbulence. That is why He would allow it to happen to you in the first place and spare the other person, as he/she may not survive it.

The third learning point for our meditation is that, God has also made a way of escape for you to be rid of the challenge. Every problem has its solution inherent in it, so also is that pressure you are battling right now. God has factored a solution with it the very moment it dawned on you. But, oftentimes, we dwell so much on the problem, analysing its enormity and intricacies that we forget to seek the solution to it.

Therefore, you need to take solace in the knowledge that you are not alone in this kind of issue, so you are not worse off than everyone else. Secondly, the situation is not beyond you, otherwise God would not have allowed it to come your way. And thirdly, there is a solution to the problem that is waiting for you to discover it; so that you can become a deliverer to other people who may find themselves enmeshed in the same kind of issue (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

Now aren’t these some good reasons to keep keeping on?

You will succeed in Jesus Name!
