There are almost 200 private jets flying our skies. This is not Europe, we cant fail. We are the next frontier after China. I am already working on the 3D Printing model that will place Nigeria above her contemporaries within 5 Years. Electricity is all we need and not pessimism. If you think am lying, Ask Aliko Dangote.

Keep living in delusion, denial of obvious facts in the embrace of folly and granstanding
So availability of private jets mostly bought with stolen wealth, funneled funds and a looted patrimony is indicative of a sound economy undecided
When many a youth are unemployed

Of course, PDP has hijacked our economy, what do you expect. Oil should be a Niger/delta thing and different states and regions should be pursuing economic systems based off their different haves and have not's resulting in a robust and diversified economy, instead we are here stuck under the banner off the presidency and his single mind.

SLIDE waxie: does a bouyant economy means less unemployment? Think!

US, CHINA, UK all av high unemployment rate. So, what is ur point?

U can't really blame d govt for d poor ones. At least, the few that ventures into a little biz can give u a positive testimony. But all the rest who expect economy boom to result to 'staying at home and receiving a credit alert in their acc' will die waiting!
The unemployment rates in US and Uk are in single digits while in Nigeria we have 39% not counting those that are underemployed. E.g Phd holders driving trucks. Wait o, na for which course dem get Phd sef??

This is junk journalism at its best. I just stopped reading at the point where it said the oil production was at its lowest ever, even lower than at the peak of militancy and he quoted a figure of 1.3 million barrels per day. Lol. At the peak of militancy, Nigeria was producing 700, 000 barrels per day. That completely gave them up as shameless liars that cooked up their news from their azz! This is a totally false and bizzaire story. This is not the way to do opposition but it the sad story of Nigeria. A country with an opposition that wants the country to go down so they can rise to power and they will kill, maim, distort, concort lies and propaganda to achieve their aim.

They are even paying a band of hungry folks online to push their cause. Sad!

What then was the use of an amnesty program for which billions was expened?
If the oil production level has dropped below oil production even at the height of militancy, then why the amnesty in the first place? undecided
You now know why Kuku,Dokubo ,Anniko Briggs, Edwin Clark (the senile old man) and the rest if their Ijo clan are threathening that their 'son' must return come 2015

Is it not open knowledge America (formerly Nigeria biggest crude customer) is targeting 2017 as their date for energy independence from other nations?
Have they not stepped ways to extract shale oil along with countries like Britain?
Even Brazil with all its oil deposits is at the forefront of Ethanol as a petrol subtitute
Has India (Nigeria's biggest oil importer) not discovered oil in commercial quantity?
Has Nigeria's oil production not taken a dive?
So what other presidential source do you seek to hear what is obvious from undecided

highlandre: You don't need to be an economist to know Nigerian economy's trapped: it operates in the realm of theory, but on how it impacts the people, the opposite is the case. A case study is the height of umeployment among the teeming graduates! I'm happy the minister herself confessed to this.
As for those who're saying there are different investors in the country currently, note that our production of oil is a big factor in measuring the poise of the economy, and how this would determine budgetary performance.
If you want to understudy the performance of any economy, measure the rate of employment vis a vis national policies and investments.

Thank you. Ask her, what are economy indicators, GDP. Is that how GDP fall.

And is this economy your idea of hw a proper economy shuld be run. Its not rocket science to knw tht this economy is doomed and will lead us to utter destruction if we do not retrace our steps. Sadly enuf the govt guys knw this but shy away from this and are always too scared to grab the bull by te horn.

Check out naija's oil production since 3rd quota 2012,its on the decline while oil theft and vandalism is on the increase and this was corroborated by the minister herself.

We still spend vast amounts of our resources on recurrent expenditure tht brings no devt whatsoever into the economy while the little we keep for capital project gets pilfered by the same govt officials. We have a 1trillion naira deficit in the 2013 budget and domestic debt is a whopping 8trillion naira.Tell me which economy can survive like this.i bet you knw the answer except you want to keep fooling yoursef.

FDI as bin dwindling since the insecurity in the north started escalating. We still dont have jobs,no electricity,no quality education and healthcare and here you are saying all is well.

Of course Nigerias economy is in danger.. Over dependence on crude oil.. Most of the world is working on energy independence, the US is discovering loads of oil and the price of crude is dropping. If anything, this should be a message for us to develop the thousands of other commodities we have. There is lack of transparency and accountability in our crude sector. How can we have crude on our soil, send it abroad to refine and then buy it back for our local consumption? There is a reason why the government doesn't want to simplify the process. Huge loss of income in that process alone. We are blessed with good weather that most countries would die for, we have fertile ground. We have a healthy labor force that is largely unemployed. Why not invest in our infrastructure using local talent?

Lack of infrastructure and a corrupt government keeps foreign investors out (we do have some but it would be a lot more). We are also trying to support a budget where the president spends almost 10 million naira a day on just food and to top it off, every government official that gets into power embezzles like there is no tomorrow. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that our economy is in trouble.

angelinvestor: Nigeria is in danger, yet thousands of entrepreneurs and investors from South Africa, Lebanon, China, India, etc are trooping to Nigeria to invest and the stock market is booming. Well, it all depends on your own perspective. It you believe Nigeria is toast, then it is toast to you.

Thousands? You are a great statistician!

What aspect of the Nigeria economy are the foreigners investing in?

I hope you don't think that these vultures that move money from one country to the other leaving havoc in return
when their mission is accomplished as investors.

Look at Greece, Cyprus, Spain, etc. It is a pattern my friend. If Nigeria cannot find inward solutions to her problems, then it is doomed.
