there is no islamic reason for something like this. it is senseless killing and completely unnecessary. Allah does not permit animals to be killed without due right of consumption, etc and not for sport and trophy.

Chapter 25 verse 68; And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty.

People can see from the above that in the Quran or the Hadith, there is no remote sign of 'honored killing'. further, the Quran in chapter 4 verse 137 speaks about believer who converted out of Islam. after it reverted back in. it was 3 times with increment of disbelief before God continued and says it is then He will not forgive them and He will not guide them back to Islam. some of us muslims are so traditional that we assume that islam is passed on from generation to generation without the need for individual conviction.
