I thoroughly need your assistance and advice. I would like to embark on this venture but I, like alot of my people here, have zero-abroad-travel-experience (that is, if you take out Ghana lol!) what is the first step to take? I am about 17 weeks gone and i have not done jack about my intention. The idea just poped into my head to look at Nairaland for help..pls get across to me somehow...either via my email on Nairaland or whichever way plsssssssssss

Can you please confirm if you eventually used Dr Grace Mariapillai and if you did when was that? I called their office and was surprised they mentioned they dont take self pay international patients.

Hello @Thespecialist, I am an April/May 2018 mum, 3rd child though and definitely cs.I would like you to help me with information to Oshawa hospitals and Obgyn as I need proof of medical appointment for my oniline application. I would also be needing hospital and accomodation costing. I really hope you can assist me as I would like to apply before end of December.

I live in Oshawa...moved to Oshawa from Toronto...I have been living in Toronto for the past 14 years.

I have assisted families with child delivery in Toronto and in Oshawa...

I will gladly answer any questions, provide information and assistance that anyone might need regarding coming to Ontario to deliver.

My experience and knowledge is kinda limited to Toronto and Oshawa as these are the places I have been directly involved in assisting families with delivering babies in Canada.

Hello ;

Anyone knows a good clinic in CALGARY that accepts me at my 35th week of pregnancy?
I called north east women clinic, and mosaic clinic. They both said they couldnt accept as i am at a very late stage.
And seems hospitals are quite a lot expensive comparing with clinics.

Anyone with any information, please share your experiences and info with me.

It is my sincere advice that you thread with extreme caution @Deonu, watch your every step on this route, especially now that new accounts are being opened just for the purpose of reaching you instead of speaking plainly on here for your benefit and that of those coming behind you as is the tradition here, hopefully you are not been targeted for disservice. A couple of posts reaching you wrongly earlier I think got deleted by ADMIN. God be with you!

Wow! what a post. So reaching out to someone on this forum who asked questions about finding a clinic/doctor who can take her in at her current stage of pregnancy and also needing help with accommodation now constitute 'targeting @Deonu for disservice'? Na wa oo.

@omobendel ndo oo and I perfectly understand why you would have such a viewpoint. If my post providing my email address and phone number because I didn't get the PM @Deonu sent to me is now misconstrued as not speaking plainly then you may as well get ADMIN to delete my post, I was only trying to help and not contravene Nairaland's advert rules. Would providing details of a doctor/clinic and also about accommodation not be deemed as advertising?

FYI, I live and work in Calgary and I've lived here now for over 8 years legitimately. My hands are not idle for the devil to use as a tool. I am gainfully employed and too busy to engage in any shady business or target anyone for disservice. You only need to know me to understand what I mean.

thank you so much @lesluga. I got my (wife and daughter too) canadian visa in just 6 days. I'll also like to thank people that have contributed on this forum like @hotstepper, @hermosa, @virt, @Jesunifemi, @thespecialist and so on. I read through the thread from page 1 to the end and actually took down notes. i used all the information I gleaned from this thread in preparing my application and it paid off.

1. I did paper application and submitted at vfs global. I'm happy I did paper application cos in my application, I didn't put 10yrs working experience. i only put in my current work experience so vfs global asked me to correct that for me and wifey.
2. I had a valid US visa and I think it played a role in my getting TRV within a short time coupled with submitting my application at an off-peak period (the summer periods - june to august have notorious waiting times). there was actually a notice at the vfs global office that if one has a valid US visa, you no longer need to attach proof of funds).
3. I attached everything attachable even optional documents - LOE, Introduction letter from my workplace, payslips, bank statement, hotel booking, provisional airline booking, tour guide booking, travel history (photocopy of stamped passport travel pages), copy of property documents, child's school fees receipt... like someone said, you need documents that show you have sufficient funds, sufficient ties to nigeria, and a good travel history.
4. I put in Tourism under purpose of visit. I didn't include 'to give birth' cos my wife isn't pregnant yet but we plan on getting pregnant next year. when we do I intend writing the canadian embassy (like i did for my US visa) of our intent to birth in canada. I'll print their response and have it handy at the POE. I don't like embarassment.

I hope this helps someone planning to apply.

Just completed reading from page 0-57. Quite insightful and thank you to those who took out time to explain to others.
God willing I should be applying for my visa end of Jan to travel by first week in June. I have seen that it has been strongly adviced to lay it out in the application if one is going for birth purpose and I intend to do that.
Does any one have most recent information on the option that is quicker? Paper or Online application?

Canada and US share some information mainly violent criminals, terrorists, human traffickers, INTERPOL wanteds but not mundane info like you being married to husband A or Husband B or misrepresentation from one embassy to the other. But we all out here know that a lot of people apply for visa with not so quite the 'correct' information in an effort to be successful in the application. The key is be consistent in your 'lies' as if you are not careful they will eventually catch up later on.

1. Applied for US Visa in 2014...you said you are married to Mr A
2. Applied for Canadian visa, and you said you are married to Mr B
3. You won't have to be worried, if you were consistent with your marital status. If you can defend the inconsistency, then you have nothing to be worried about.
4. Yes they share information, expect an email from the Canadian embassy, all the best in your defence of the different marital status.
5. If your response to the Canadian email isn't satisfactory, your US Visa might be revoked too.

My wife is due around that time and i do have relatives in canada but zero contact and i have never been to canada before. So yeah that is an option that can be explored sharing accommodation. I will be going to USA end of new year month and may be i can go to canada to scout out there.

I don dey read this thread for the past two weeks (from page 1 oh), in fact the page is permanently opened on my browser and i just keep reading in my spare time plus taking a lot of screenshots for future reference grin grin
Like someone said, this thread should be a taking and also giving back thread (Not only taking without sharing your experience), I will start sharing my experience as it goes and will keep on updating as I progress on this journey.

In 2015 I applied for US tourist visa and got a 2year entry. At POE in US told CBP i was also going to have my baby in the US along with the vacation. Baby came, all bills paid got zero balance from doctor and hospital. Fast forward to 2017, myself and hubby wanted to renew the visa, VO said why didnt we declare in the first interview that we wanted to have baby in the US. Told the VO that the initial VO who interviewed us did not ask any question on that and the plan was only to visit. He would have any of our story. Long story short, he denied us the visa.

Then I decided to try the Canada route. Read this forum like crazy to understand how to go about the application especially when you have been denied a US visa. After a lot of reading and digesting, myself and hubby summoned courage to apply for the TR visa. Plan was that we would travel for a visit in December as a tourist and then use that opportunity to see if we could scout for a doc/Gynae/settle accommodation plans etc and then next year when baby is due will travel for child birth. We submitted the application (via Paper route) went to VFS to submit all the requested supporting docs. This was on 22nd Oct. Exactly 10 calendar days after submitting the application, hubby got a call from the Canada embassy. Basically he was asked for the reason why we were refused a US visa. He then clearly explained to the Canadian VO that we were not no sufficient ties back home. He also mentioned that we had our baby there as well but all the bills were paid in full. Apparently the Canadian embassy had also called the US embassy people to find out why we were not given the visa but they did not give any convincing answer to the Canadian embassy hence the reason the Canadian embassy called us to find out further. Also during the convo, the Canadian VO then asked my husband if I was currently pregnant. My husband said yes and that we plan to also have the baby there next year but the reason for the initial visit was for tourism. The Canadian VO was like it is not illegal or a crime to go to Canada to give birth. If you have sufficient fund to cover it, you would most likely be given. They even called my husband’s company HR manager to confirm if salary certificate which we provided was correct (no be small thing).

Long story short, he told us to send receipts of our medical bills in the US as well as the refusal document which was received from US embassy. We sent all the details to him and even put the US hospital and doctor’s contact info to call them if they have any doubts. Exactly one week after sending all the details, we received a mail from the Canadian embassy to come and drop our passports. Got our passports back today. Mine stamped Multiple entry till 2021 hubby till 2019 as passport expires in 2019.

My peace of mind is that I have clearly declared to the VO that I would be giving birth so I no get fear for POE issues.
In my opinion, Canada Embassy processes your VISA in a fairer manner than US. They take time to review your documents properly and then make a decision based on that. But US ehn, its like before you even show up at the embassy, they have already made a decision without checking your docs..

Now unto the next stage of preparation, Accommodation /OB GYN/Hospital to use. As I no get family for Canada, Ontario will be my best bet as I can see from people’s review on this thread that it seems to be a relatively less expensive to birth there. I will start contacting the hospitals and docs now.

@Hotstepper, please help a sister out. How can you assist with accommodation options available and which city do you recommend I stay in (Brampton or Toronto)? Which is easier to move around in? Do you have anyone I can contact in arranging accommodation for a 2 month period. Also I have contacts of Dr Ayodele and Dr Abou of Brampton hospital and I have the Dr Grace contact of humber river. I just need to understand if I should call the doctor first or the hospital first or do I have to first get a Family Doctor who will then refer me to the hospital/Doctor. As I don’t have family doctor, please help if you can refer me to someone. Thanks a lot and look forward to your feedback.

Any other preggy mama bound for Ontario around April/May 2018 who doesn’t mind sharing accommodation? I need to plan this waka well in advance.

i have been following the nairaland thread on giving birth in Canada and have read all 57 pages however noticed there has been no recent (within the last 3 months or so) post on people’s poe experiences. So i am officially asking for info from anyone who has passed through canadian poe recently for birth. Particularly those who didn't declare birth purpose.

Please see my situation below

I applied for a visitor visa in November with intention to travel in December with my husband (and then in March for child birth).

I stated my purpose of travel in the form that we were planning on going for xmas to visit family (my sister is a canadian citizen and my brother has PR status there)

I have travelled to Canada 2ce previously so i didn’t think the visa process will take longer than 1 month as it didn’t take long previous applications.

The visa came after the intended December travel date so we cancelled December plan.

Now I plan to travel for the birth in March at 33 weeks and want to know what people’s recent experiences have been at poe in very recent months

Do you think i should mention intention of child birth in addition to family visit at poe?

I plan to travel with more than enough cash On Hand as i have seen the estimates from previous posts and will be accompanied by my mom who has been in and out of canada more frequently than i have (she was there as of early Dec 2017)

Would appreciate advise from the gurus
