Hi Deonu,

Am thinking if you're not a PR cos dat was d reason I wanted Calgary or any state I can get instant healthcare for free, you can prolly go with Oshawa since its been proven cost effective by 'thespecialist' who gave info abt it and I'm thinking she could also prolly help with an accomodation or someone who knows sthg abt t,that's if you want sthg cost effective.

Then for accomodation it's usually difficult to get a rented accommodation for a period of 2-3months except you intend to share,my 2cents tho.

Hello Koolmum and Thespecialist;

Thanks for the advise , yes i am not pr, but i have a friend who is pr and living in Calgary. So hoping that she can help me as well, i may stay with them for the first couple weeks till i find a place for myself, and she may guide me about hospitals and doctors. That is why i booked my tickets already to Calgary. I didnt do any research before that if i have checked this thread before i might change my direction to Oshava, but now i dont have a chance to change since the tickets purchased are very expensive as well.
And so far i am not able to get much help from my friend, and that is why i am checking all information i can find online.

Checking abnb also and the prices seem quite high though, sharing could be a better idea. I will keep searching.

Many many thanks to every mama that has been sharing again , this is really usefull smiley

Deonu,

Regarding rental accomodation, also try searching on www.kijiji.ca
Narrow your search to ‘one bedroom’ and ‘Calgary’ ‘Alberta’....hopefully you find a reasonably prized accomodation that you can rent for a couple of months.... best of luck

Dear The specialist,

Do you have any contacts for obgyn in Oshawa that deliver at lakeridge birth center?

Would really appreciate any info u could give

Thespecialist:
Hi All,
Wanted to share this to help anyone looking to give birth in Canada make an informed decision cos knowledge is power!

A relation of mine came over late last year and had her baby at Oshawa and we found out that the child delivery charges are a fraction(less than half) of what the charges are in Toronto( where she delivered her previous babies)

Below is a breakdown of charges for child birth @ Oshawa

Doctors(obgyn) fee...$1600 (irrespective of c-section or natural delivery, and provided delivery is without complications)
Ante natal check up...$72.50/visit
Blood tests...$51.20
Ultrasound...$175.40

In Toronto Doctors fee is $3500 (this is the charge as of three years ago for complication-free delivery and does not include ante natal visits, blood tests, ultrasound)

Hospital fee is $2500/night...this is same across Ontario (of which Toronto and Oshawa are part of)

Hope this info helps in making informed decision...

Dear Gottigoodgood,
The health care system in Canada is structured such that a family physician has to refer you to an obgyn.
If you have friends or relations here get them to do this for you.
You can go online to read reviews of obgyn doctors in Oshawa or any area you intend to give birth at so you could provide the info of your choice obgyn to the family doctor for the referral.
Hope this info helps...

Dear Thespecialist,

Thanks alot for the information. It was surely helpful. I start researching OBGYN in that area.

Is it possible to use midwives and OBGYN together?

would really prefer a natural birth and research shows that the C-section rate is very high in Canada.

Hello Gottigoodgood...
Regarding your preferring a natural birth, note that if you’ve had previous birth(s) by c-section(performed in another country) your obgyn here will opt for a repeat c-section...(this info is going by my knowledge of Canadian birthing system and from my personal experience here)
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Omodadi2: 10:15pm On Nov 25, 2017
Even in the US, only few doctors accept VBAC trial. Some even say they accept and at the end, they change tone. So i believ this sint what she meant by saying there is high C-section rate in Canada.

Hello house
Just wanted to share my update....

I called the office of Dr Grace of Humber River yesterday and what i was told was they do not take cash payment anymore that i have to have get the OHIS /Health card when i am in canada before i can book appointment with them. Was a lil surprised as i though they attended to international patients as well as Hotstepper had earlier recommended.

I also called Dr kayode's office and got below Quote
3500 CAD (Dr's charge which which covers all hospital visits till delivery, the actual delivery and one post parturm visit at 6 weeks)
2000 CAD for one night in Hosital for Mother
600 CAD for one night for Baby

Does anyone has any other Doctor of Humber River that i can contact to check prices also before i finalize.

@TheSpecialist can you share your Oshawa doctor's name or contact?

For a PR do you get instant healthcare for child delivery considering the fact that you may just be arriving? In which province can this be obtained?

What's the advantage of giving birth in either US/Canada?

In the US your child would be a U.S. citizen

In Canada your child would be a Canadian citizen

YOU have hope if you can contact US hospital and do a booking with them before visa application the sky is ur floor.

lovingT:

Hello Olalicious seems I can tap inspiration from your story though my question is also open to the house.
I am a first preggy lady already 12weeks gone...
Hubby and I applied for the US tourist visa and like you said got denied even before I realised we were interviewed. Now I was asked if I was pregnant in the interview and said YES.... big mistake.... anyway no documents were check or anything ..... was heartbroken cos the plan was to get the US tourist VISA for his nieces wedding in Dec then travel in April/ May for the birthing process.....

Since that wasn't possible decided to try the Canadian route. We have a relative there and wanted to apply for the tourist visa.....

Upon reading this thread however, I realised that US and Canadian embassy communicate and seems I cannot hide my pregnancy anymore in my visa application.

Oh plus I have Zero travel history .... I mean Zero so that's also not in my favour........

Well my question is Do I have any hope?? Cos I really want this

Thanks to anyone who reads and replies
