Ford edge is a good vehicle but the only issue is the resale value, availability of parts and also how to get a specialist to fix the car when the need arises.
If you stay in a big city like Lagos then you don't have to worry about the spare parts or a ford specialist.
Also, if you are not worried about the resale value after a while then it's a great choice.

My friend sold his ford edge 2012 less than 50% of the total cost of purchase after one year usage and guess what?
it took him eight (8 ) months before he could sale the car,the people that came to inspect the car always had a reason to settle for a Toyota or Honda.

Honestly, cost of replacement parts should not be a yard stick in making a choice between the both vehicles because original Lexus replacement parts are not cheap, check the cost of any engine or gear box of any Lexus vehicle produced from 2008 till date.

If you go for a direct tokumbo of any of the cars with a good history(Non accident-ed) and service with the specified engine and gear box oil at the right time,it may take up-to 2 years before any major repay.

Replacement parts for the recent cars i have seen recently are all expensive and that's why the purchase price is also high.
The reason why Toyota(Lexus) parts are very much available is because they use same engine, gear box and other components in so many model of cars produced within a three(3) to six(6) years time.

Avalon, seinna,rx,es,highlander etc of any same year of production are practically the same car with different body shape and minor modifications to suite each model.

Nairaland have helped me to take proper care of my cars and my friends now seek advice from me when it comes to management of their cars (thanks to nairalnds).
They think i'm a guru in automobiles but na here i dey do my expo!

Good luck.

Pls and pls my people, help me out with some clarifications.

When buying a car, especially Nigerian used cars (hand to hand), what are the things to put into considerations, what to take note of that you won't end up buying scraps and won't buy a stolen car. How are u going to be sure the person selling it is the owner and the car not a stolen vehicle ? And even after purchase, what are the steps to take for me to change the ownership to mine?

Then what is it about this mileage of a thing that they always talks about as increasing or decreasing over years.. Pls help a sister who is a novice and doesn't know anything about car....plssss. Pls just tell me everything I should know before purchase so as to be on a safer side.

Note: I don't have any man around me here that can put me through, as all of them are afar off.

Thanks.

go through the link. To avoid buying a stolen car don't buy a G-wagon tagged at the price of Bobo drink.

For tokunbo just ensure you have the custom documents

For naija used check the certificate of ownership the owner name and number is there you can call the number to determine if the owner sold it to a dealer or ask questions about the car.

I think all Chevvies were made like that. Americans generally go for power hence more fuel consumption. I used to drive a Cruze a while back, friends called it Captain Jack for obvious reasons tongue

Thanks for the advice. Have you ever ordered a car from the USA or Canada? I just got my car using https://clearit.ca/ company which helped me to buy a car. They are dealing with all the documents, so I was pretty calm. I was waiting for my vehicle not so long and finally, I got it in port. I purchased Toyota, all parts are not so expensive in my country, so it was a really good deal.

Well, cosidering the way the OP asked (the routes he mentioned), I don't think he is talking about using the car for Bolt/Uber services.
THat being said, IMO, it can be used. If sienna can be used for inter-city communting, why would it not handle shorter distances.
Besides, I've seen it being used along those axis mentioned.
