What I'm trying to get is : is my mechanic going to drain the old one in the transmission or i can just top it up?

depends on the condition of the existing atf in the transmission.

I am trying to help a friend's wife whose car will not enter reverse!
The Car is Automatic Gear, Nissan Almera, 1998 - 2000 model.
The Car can drive well in forward gears but put it into reverse, Mbanuu. It will just be raising and not moving at all in reverse.

Gear Oil and other likely problems have been checked and ruled out. What else can l do.

Please MASTERS in the house, what could be the problem?
One neighbour said we should take it to Ladipo for repair but her husband is not at home and l cant leave my work to take it there.
Can anyone give me an idea of what the problem is?
What needs to be repaired and likely cost of this repair?
Even somewhere trustworthy that it can be taken to for repair.

Your culprit is inside the transmission. Unfortunately, transmission needs to physically examined. It might be a broken cog or total failure.

The bigger the engine, the higher the fuel consumption(AC on or off).

Hello One4me,

If the car shows the reverse light on the dashboard instrument cluster, the problem will be the valve body inside the transmission which can be repaired but better changed. It could also be the strainer which sieves the transmission oil.

If the car does not show the reverse light on the dash, then it is the cable or gear control which will be repaired.
