frumentius: Very interesting! I know they help out a lot financially and militarily in Moz and Angola but why the CAR? Fyi that 6th world country in the middle of Africa is the most backward, underdeveloped and poorest in the world not just in these parts. In fact the CAR doesn't even appear in some stats. |

kikuyu1:1) Strategic geo-political considerations. With their deployment to Haiti over, they were the only aspirant to permanent Security Council membership not involved in major peace-keeping. 2) The visiting planners say the military's not happy with being deployed on policing duty in Rio and will use the CAR mission to argue for a quick end to that tasking. So they're pumping us for all sorts of info about our CAR mission. The UN initially said they won't pay for air assets and the Brazilians told them our men aren't going anywhere then. They're aiming to have an advance team in-country as early as next month. 2 Likes |

This is not going to end well. Djibouti owes $1.1 billion to China for building the port, the airport, the railway line to Ethiopia and the pipeline bringing fresh water from Ethiopia. When they fail to pay, which is a sure thing - all this infrastructure belongs to China, as happened recently in Sri Lanka. Will the US, France, Japan and Italy continue servicing their bases from a wholly-Chinese owned and run port? 1 Like

Algerian1: Equatorial Guinea is acquiring all sorts of high-end materiel when they can't even maintain only 30 Reva IIIs! |

giles14:EG has been on an acquisition spree of note, after the failed mercenary coup cooked in SA, UK, US, and Spain. Even though our intelligence services warned them, they still don't trust us. Look at their navy and air defence purchases. But as I said, if they can't maintain simple APCs, how are they going to maintain all the high-end they've been buying? 2 Likes |

giles14: From conversations I've had with Nigerian officer mates, the BH scumbags have distracted you from the strategic picture around your region. Not to say you should've responded to a minnow like EG, but my counterparts at Nigerian DHQ seemed neither aware of the developments at EG nor the motivations thereof. Angolan military and civil intelligence though, is paying close attention. Let's not forget the disputed waters around Sao Tome also involve EG, Angola (big brother to Sao Tome), France (big brother to Gabon and Cameroun); apart from just Sao Tome and Nigeria. 1 Like

Henry240: Henry you are being seriously Childish and petty right now. "Algerian1, when did you guys get the Norinco VP6?" What's so ridiculous about this question? Algerian1 has proven to have a lot of Knowledge about his country's procurement system, and defense systems in general, him being Student Doctor has nothing to do with it. Last we heard, Algerian1 has been busy with his Military training which is why he disappeared. It's like asking when did the N.A.F get the Super Mushkat trainers... You need to relax bro. 7 Likes |
