Nigeria should really consider the KC-390 for the replacement of our C-130s.

Very modern aircraft.

You people that seem to be so obsessed with aircrafts and the military so tey una go dey argue the engine type even the type of smoke e dey emit. Why not just join the airforce where you'll be of benefit instead of arguing away your time on nairaland.

Many misinformation about the Wing Loong II. There are actually more than three countries operating it, not just China, UAE and Egypt.

One of the critical reasons is most administrations have paid lip service to procurement.
Late President Sheu Shagari made weapon procurement a priority between 1979 and 1983.
Incredibly 40 years later Nigeria is still using some of that equipment!
It shows you how damaging all Military Rulers are.
They are about regime preservation.
I will repeatedly state if you want a Military complex , functional weapons procurement in Nigeria . Civilian Regime must be the norm not the exception.
Leave APC /PDP out of it.
GEJ did a lot for the NN
PMB is doing a lot for the NAF
Our C-130Js are 40 years old and just now getting what is considered routine in the Western World : PDMS
It is hoped when things get better economically whomever is President will continue these trends.

I think it's the wing Loong 1 Egypt operates.

video broadcast on Egypt’s 45th Air Force Day on October 14, which was published on the ministry’s official social media pages.
The production included footage of a Wing Loong taking off from a desert air base, armed with what appeared to be a pair of Lán Jiàn-7 (Blue Arrow 7 or BA-7) laser-guided missiles on two of its four underwing hard-points.
The aircraft was shown attacking and destroying a ground target.
The video’s voiceover boasted: “The Egyptian military has been boosted with the latest global armament systems, including the multirole Rafale aircraft, F-16 fighter jets, Boeing AH-64 Apache helicopters and China’s Wing Loong armed aircraft.”
The Wing Loong (also known as the Pterodactyl I or the Yìlóng-1) is similar in appearance to the US Reaper

Not only the NAF bro, NA and NN too. Though NA's rearmament is agonizingly slow compared to the other two.

Six Super Tucano aircraft will soon be delivered to Nigeria from the United States, the Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar, has said.
The aircraft are part of the 12 fighter jets sold to Nigeria by the U.S. to aid combat actions and air assaults.
He said this on Monday after defending the 2021 budget estimates of the Nigerian Air Force before the Senate Committee on Air force.
The Air Force is also expecting the delivery of 19 additional aircraft in the fight against insecurity in the North East, and air fighters from the Nigeria Air force are already in the U.S. receiving additional training on usage and the applications of the fighter jets when eventually added to the fleet of combat aircraft.
He said the Airforce had carried out operations for over 60,000 hours with half of those in the North East to fight insurgency.
“We are expecting 3 J-17 fighters from Pakistan, 12 super Tucano from the United States, one M-171… Out of the 12 A – 29 Super Tucanos from the US, six are almost here as those to handle them have been sent on training for that purpose,” he said.
“A total of 200 personnel are receiving training in nine different countries of the world on handling combat aircraft. They will soon join their colleagues in the fight against insecurity and in particular, insurgency in the North East.”
After extensive discussions with the U.S. government, President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2018 placed an order for the aircraft.
He had said the procurement would help strengthen Nigeria’s national security, as well as a timely end to the Boko Haram war.

Some people here seem to think that Denel is the only arms manufacturer in South Africa, or that we make and sell only armoured vehicles.
So that we discuss from an informed basis, I'm posting info on non-vehicle arms exports from RSA, starting with 2016.

The reports can be downloaded from sipri, under databases and then national reports.
