Still makes me mad that we continue to lose men in Darfur because al-Bashir will not allow the UN/AU to deploy air assets. Private Malashe was escorting a UN civilian convoy; in a 2-hour battle. A platoon managed to fight off 3 companies worth of rebels with no support, for 2 hours, in an ambush. 1 trooper dead, 1 seriously injured! I'm f&*ng mad as a QRF with even Oryx with 20mm guns could have saved lives in those 2 hours.
F&*k the UN and the AU, allow us to do the job, or don't send us at all!

RIP Private Malashe.

It is very funny....... However, I don't think displaced syrians would have a lot to laugh about it.

Looks good! Question is, where is this helicopter coming from, the Ukraine or Russia?

Although, Oga beeg is reporting that this unit was up-graded in Port-Harcourt, and then transferred to Yola.

According to Beeg, the chopper was handed over to NAF by NEMA

If they actually did weaponise it in Port-Harcourt, Nigeria, i'm okay with that.

So NEMA no longer has a rescue chopper. Isn't that a minus?

See report from the 34 min

But this NTA DEFSEC reporter is the only DEFSEC reporter i know that wears khaftan and suite to do his job. So annoying

NEMA replaced their MI-17 Helicopters with 6 units of Bell 429 Helicopters.

The first arrived 2 years ago.

He doesn't even do the job well. Ordinarily, he should also double as a Photo-Journalist with his own regularly updated blog/ image sharing page. He gets front row seats, and he has absolutely nothing, in terms of content to show for it.

the MI17 fits better into the role. It is rugged and could and has a bigger space that could be used as a make shift ambulance. For up to four people at a go. What do they want to do with Bell429 fly VIPs around? Naija self.

mI17 is quite big and cumbersome... if you are trying to get into a position to winch someone off something (like a crevass in a mountain or building in a built up area) or land in small spots (air-ambulance) you want something smaller and more nimble.

MI17 is a fantastic troop transport and is much better suited to that role.

most emergency agencies do have dedicated choppers with large capacity for medic duty. I guess that was why we got it in the first place.

We need to look at ease of maintenance and availability.

6 units of Bell 429 are certainly better than 4 units of MI-17 Helicopters ( NEMA didn't have up to 4). The Bell 429 is one of the most modern Bell Helicopters in the world, we are the first customers of the Bell 429 in Africa.

It is an appropriate Helo for rescue missions.

-On the MI-17 for the NAF, news reports said 2 new Aircrafts were commissioned in Yola, but we've only seen 1.

- on the local weaponisation of the MI-17, it would be a major boost for us, and the rest of our available assets.

BH takes over Mordas town." In Hile Alifa subdivision. Villagers have abandoned the town to them for some days now.

Cameroon is gradually becoming a safe haven for this group. This will be a setback for the successes we have had so far.

If boko haram continue like this in Cameroon then Nigeria too is not safe. All 4 countries must eliminate the terrorists together.
