CNN is an American news network and all I see is a US centric report to it's US audience. Nothing bad was said about Niger government. The news is just from a US perspective.

If you've watched a CNN report about Nigeria, you'll know it sounds just about the same. They don't go into detail about anything within Nigeria. They'll just mention it briefly then go over to how it affects US-Nigeria relationships and US interests, which is what their viewers want to hear.
