I absolutely hate the K-8 Karakorum. Either we get back our MB 399C/D or we go for the L-15/Yak-130.
The L15 is a yak 130 playing dress up, the Chinese really designed it with the map of Africa next to it on the board, so naturally Nigeria should get a copy

Say what grin grin grin LMAO!!!!
They were literally sheet boxes grin grin

Good riddance

don't say good bye yet

the new truck needs to be tested at a number of sites and under a number of conditions not to mention there is 4x4 6x6 and 8x8 version that alone could take a couple of years as each test will bring to light a weakness and lead to a redesign and more tests and then they will be built and they replacing thousands of trucks and nearly a hundred variants the last SAMIL may drive of 60 years old. And really that if the SANDF even cares about replacing them in a timely manner. The SAMIL does it's job and I would not be shocked if they leave with 3 million km on the clock they work horses.

South Africa replacing 30yrs old samil trucks is really commendable.
It doesn't need to start falling apart before you call for its replacement
Uhm.....we're not replacing them dude...well not in the next 3-5 years anyway!

SANDF Samils are very old though, and i need of replacements.
With good maintenance they're good to go for another 5-10 years at least, they still do their job well and besides there are more important projects that need funding, imo tactical airlift capability should be number 1 on the SANDF shopping list.

they aspire for the same political ideology ,like the egyptian muslim brotherhood.also edorgan has hegemony ambitions especially in the middle east and somalia is a muslim country in need financially and military .which could be loyal if supported by a country like turkey which has the economic and military, which it using to its advantage.turkey is also building a military base in qatar. qatar is big supporter of erdogan and his political ideology.the day turkey start's delivering its surplus F-5's jets to somalia national army, kenya will be in a panic mode, considering we having territorial dispute with them
Turkey is a Pan Turkism terroist sponsor at least for Russia and China in Syria civil war and central Asia.

he wants to acquire territory which was once part of the ottoman empire.
wonder what the chinese think about him considering his support to the Chinese rebels (ughirs) spelled it wrong grin

actually his aim was to use the ISIS as a proxy towards realization of the ottoman empire , but he seems to have adapted , after he almost lost his kingship due to the coup .
africa will bear the brunt if erdogan engages in any large scale misadventure .

what was surprising to me was the speed with which he changed sides after the failed coup.
just saying Putin is ex KGB , and KGB used to consign turncoats to the gulags after making full use of them.
the coup really shock him up,no one knows how much the turkish military has being degraded with the on going purge after the recent coup.if he assume building another ottoman empire is going to be easy,he is wrong.just as he is experiencing in Syria,it will be same in Africa .there are countries who are deeply invested in Africa and more powerful that turkey

By Maj. Brett Walker, Massachusetts National Guard State Public Affairs

JOINT BASE CAPE COD, Mass. – On the 15th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the Massachusetts National Guard proactively strengthened its partnership with allies in the war on terror by hosting the Kenyan Secretary of Defense, Kenya Defence Forces-KDF.

Raychelle Omamo, Kenyan Secretary of Defense, and a delegation of senior civilian and military officials visited Massachusetts to meet with state and National Guard leaders as well as tour facilities in the Commonwealth. The visit was part of the State Partnership Program – a formal pairing of the Massachusetts National Guard with the Kenyan military for purposes of mutual professional development and global security enhancement.

“The United States is a reliable partner in the battle against international terrorism,” said Omamo. “This visit is especially poignant because it falls on the anniversary of September 11.”

Omamo hopes to partner with the United States military and specifically the Massachusetts National Guard to strengthen defense relationships, develop pre-deployment practices for military units, learn best practices for counter-terrorism operations and gain exposure to leading defense technologies. General Samson Mwathethe, the Kenyan Chief of Defense and an Air Force officer, is particularly interested in unmanned flight technologies. That is an area of specialty for the Massachusetts National Guard with the regional Unmanned Arial Vehicle school and an Air National Guard Unmanned Arial Vehicle unit both assigned to the Massachusetts National Guard and stationed at Joint Base Cape Cod.

The Kenyan delegation also observed officer candidate training, helicopter flight operations, obstacle courses, weapon ranges and simulated battle sites.

“Kenya is a regional leader,” said Maj. Maia Molina-Schaefer of United States military’s African Command. “Kenya is a supporter and troop-contributor for peace-keeping operations. It is one of our strongest African partnerships.” Molina-Schaefer described the Kenyan military as a “professional and capable defense force.” She further explained the goal of the Massachusetts-Kenya partnership is to advance the U.S. military’s cooperation with the Kenyan military; to “broaden and deepen the relationship.”

Kenya is not Massachusetts’ only partner. The Massachusetts National Guard has also partnered with the Paraguayan military fro the last 15 years. The Massachusetts National Guard established its partnership with Kenya in 2015. Lt. Col. Ryan Floyd, Massachusetts Army National Guard State Partnership Program Director, said there is equal emphasis and execution for both partnership programs.

In the first year, the Massachusetts-Kenya partnership performed a dozen cooperative events. Twenty events are planned for Fiscal Year 2017 based on available funds. Beyond the Massachusetts-Kenya partnership, there are many other cooperative programs between the United States and Kenya. “We need to figure out the best place the Massachusetts National Guard can integrate with what Kenya is already doing,” said Floyd.

“I am proud of the Massachusetts National Guard’s partnership with Kenya and its dedication to win this fight,” said State Rep. David Vieira (R – East Falmouth), who attended the tour. “On the 15th anniversary of September 11 this visit shows we are strengthening security relations with Africa, which is a known hot spot for terrorist regimes,” said Vieira, who is also a member of the Massachusetts legislate Committee on Public Safety and Security. He emphasized the importance of doing security-related work on September 11, instead of focusing on ceremonies.

Colonel Richard Johnson, Massachusetts Army National Guard Assistant Adjutant General, led the tour of Joint Base Cape Cod. On the same day, Johnson was also planning for Operation Vigilant Guard, a regional complex training operation that has occurred for the past several years. Massachusetts will be hosting it in two years and he expressed optimism that the Kenyan military could participate.

The threat of terrorism is a real concern for both Massachusetts and Kenya. Both countries share a recent history of terrorist violence and both countries share a commitment to combating terrorism wherever it may be found. “Partnership is required to deal with the numerous threats to international peace and security,” summarized Omamo. “In these circumstances, no country can sustain regional security alone.”

The visit ended with a dinner at the First Corps of Cadets Museum in Boston and a meeting at the State House.

I don't think so Bro.
F7NI entered service between 2008 - 2010. We can't remove F7 from service since they are less that 10 years in service.

The discussion is based on the JF-17 photo i posted, the Africa Truck the South-Africans posted, and the L-15 i also posted.

The discussions are all on topic, you don't suppose we would just post pictures without atleast a bit of discussion on them. We'll all get bored if it were so.

We all agreed that discussions have to be limited to photos posted. This thread would not turn into a derailers paradise, i won't allow it.

East Africa: DRC Rebels Demand 87m/ - Ransom to Release Tanzanian /Kenyan Drivers

Ten Tanzanian and Kenyan truck drivers have been kidnapped in Namoyo, South Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the hostage takers, suspected to be Mai Mai rebels, are demanding a ransom of 87m/- for their release.

Head of Communications in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ms Mindi Kasiga, told reporters in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the kidnappers have given 24 hours, which expired yesterday at 16:00 hours for settling the payments. Ms Kasiga said that the captors demanded 4,000 US dollars, equivalent to 8.7 million/-, for each driver so that they can be released.

"Tanzanian government has taken preliminary measures to rescue the drivers including communicating with DRC government for the drivers to be released safely," she said. Ms Kasiga explained that according to preliminary reports, 12 drivers were kidnapped together with their trucks on Wednesday.

Two of them managed to escape and helped to inform about the incident. She said the kidnappers were suspected to be members of the Mai Mai rebel group operating in the eastern DRC's borderland.

Ms Kasiga explained that after ambushing the trucks, the rebels ordered the drivers to disembark from their vehicles as the kidnappers set on fire four trucks belonging to Tanzanian businessman Azim Dewji. According to Ms Kasiga, out of the 12 trucks seized, eight belonged to Dewji and four of them were the property of a Kenyan businessman.

"This is the second incident after the one which occurred last year whereby Muslim clerics from Tanzania were kidnapped in DR Congo but with the cooperation of the two countries, they were released without any harm," Ms Kasiga said. She added: "I believe that the measures taken to rescue the Muslim clerics will also be applied to rescue the drivers."

She, however, called upon the business community in the country to ensure that they get enough information regarding security of the areas with problems such as eastern DRC, particularly Kivu Province before transporting their goods.

The truck is more just giving information. The JF-17 is me saying they should replace the F7 the L15 is well great a great aircraft that looks great and Nigeria should really look at getting a few.

My idea is by 2025 16 JF-17, 28 L15 that is one squadron of JF-17, one squadron of operational L15 and one training squadron of L15. by 2030 the you could have a second JF17 squadron or a squadron of something bigger like SU30. I don't see a use for F7 in Nigeria since there range and payload means they not the best in any thing but incepting aircraft a task not needed.
