If Nigerian brass goes out into the field and there's not a single walking stick to be seen, did the field visit happen?

I can categorically tell you that, if that were to happen, then the field visit did not happen.

The swagger stick is authority on its own.

Excuse my repost.

Some of these photos have been previously shared, however sharing them as a single group would give them more meaning.

The plan was that @Chkl will provide one sniper rifle to take down your plane tyres before takeoff while, @Patches and his buddies from SA will effect perimeter defense of the area. @Chinese will provide 3 Armoured Vehicles for transit and a MALE UAV manned by @Nemesis. @Jakeporeshenko and @frumentius are ordered to 'cover @patches mens back' while the "luggage" is being transported back to base while the rest of us will stay back at the base watching everything from the control room manned by @Africaken and @Bidexiii

If the Nigerian military has just one respect left, it is mine.

Kenya navy acquires Warship Bridge Simulators

Updated: Mar 31, 2016, 06.36 PM IST
NEW DELHI: ARI Simulation, a domestic firm, today said it has successfully completed the indigenous manufacturing of a suite of Warship Bridge Simulators for Kenyan Navy.
The company stated that it is now in the process of delivering the simulator suite to the Kenyan Navy fleet.
The suite comprises a large primary bridge, built entirely to DNV-GL Class A Standards and fully integrated with six additional Class B Bridges.
Specialised naval maneuvering operations like group/fleet tactical maneuvering training and convoy training can be practiced using this simulator.
The primary bridge has more than 300 degrees horizontal field of view visualisation system presented using high end projection systems.
The suite replicates the exact set of vessel maneuvering controls with navigation and collision avoidance equipment as found on board the Kenyan naval vessels.
Communication system and safety control modules are also integrated in the suite. The pre-delivery-inspection (PDI) of the simulators was completed recently.
The systems are scheduled to be operational and in use by June this year at a new purpose-designed facility currently being built in Mombasa.
Shravan Rewari, CEO and Managing Director, ARI Simulation, said, "This suite of simulators has been designed keeping in mind future expansion capabilities and offers a high .....

A description of the simulator from their website

ARI’s Warship simulator facilitates training in ship handling, maneuvering, marine propulsion and decision making on naval warships in an environment that offers all the complexities of the real world without any of the associated dangers, risks and costs.
The Full Mission Warship Simulator provides detailed simulations of a comprehensive range of the features unique to naval vessels and accurately simulates the ship handling characteristics of a wide variety of naval ships including destroyers, frigates, missile ships, offshore patrol vessels and more. Bridge equipment, specific to naval vessels, is ergonomically built and arranged in a manner that provides total look and feel of a naval ship in motion. High fidelity visual display systems and rigorously modelled 3D scenes provide a completely immersive and believable environment for the hands-on training of naval personnel.
The ARI Machinery Control Room Simulators are designed to train and assess the competence of engine department personnel on warships, including officers in charge of an engineering watch and ratings forming part of the engineering watch.
The MCR Simulators are based entirely on real warship technical systems including the main propulsion plant, automation, power generation and management, damage control machinery and other auxiliary systems. MTU (12V, 16V) and other engine types are simulated including Gas Turbine and Steam turbine propulsion systems for specific vessel types.
ARI Simulation solutions are designed to be modular, making it possible to create a simulated environment very similar to the way a client’s specific vessels are designed. ARI can create a library of ship models that conform to the behavioural characteristics and appearance of warships in your own fleet. As with all naval customers, the confidentiality and integrity of your data is fully protected at ARI.

The two(2) awards the Nigerian Air Force deserves asides the award for systematically bombing the sh*t outta Boko-Haram Terrorists(BHT) in my opinion are :

- the most responsive personnel walfare arm of the military in Africa.

- the most P.R responsive military branch on the continent. A surprising award, when you consider this should ordinarily go to RSA or Morroco, however the Nigerian Air Force has done remarkably well in this area.

Infact, they've done so well that, they've made me believe "an NAF F-7 can take on two USAF F-22s at the same time and win". LOL.

Some photos of the military vehicle graveyard in Asmara, Ethiopia.

The graveyard include practically every armored vehicle ever used by the Ethiopian Army from the mid 1960s to the late 1980s. Land Rovers, BTR-60s, BTR-40s, BTR-152s, Panhard AMLs, BRDM-2s, M24 Chaffee tanks, M41 Walker Bulldog tanks, MT-LBs, T-34s, and T-55s.

All that scrap metal must be worth millions.

Troops kill 30 insurgents in failed ambush in Borno

The troops of the Nigerian Army have killed 30 members of the Boko Haram Sect in a failed ambush in Borno State.

An Abuja based Public Relations outfit to the military and security agencies, the PR Nigeria, reported that the insurgents were killed when they attempted to attack a convoy of local government officials and Travellers along Bama Road after Nguri-Soye.

It was stated that the troops of the 121 Special Task Force Battalion, were escorting the council officials to Pulka when they ran into the ambush on Saturday.

The Chairman Caretaker Committee of Gwoza Local Government Council, Mr. Saeed Sambo, who was said to be in the convoy was quoted as having said that “the terrorists detonated Improvised Explosive Device and followed with continuous gun shots which was immediately repelled by the gallant troops.

The special forces were said to have repelled the attack killing the 30 insurgents with no casualty on the side of the military and the convoy.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman was also said to have commended the troops led by Patrol Commanders of the 121BN, Captain S. Suleiman and Lt. N. Ayuba.”

It was stated that some soldiers who received gunshot wounds during the encounter were being treated at the Maimalari Barracks Hospital, Maiduguri.

The report also quoted an anonymous aid worker as having confirmed that 30 of the insurgents were killed in the attack.

Our correspondent could not get the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, to comment on the story as the calls to his mobile telephone line did not connect.
