'not from omoluabi' of course u hav clearly shown u only hav faint idea of yoruba language. One wud hav expected u to right a full sentence in yoruba after all the accusations bt as an ibo boy, u cant.
Why ar u pointin to ur fathers house with left hand? Why ar so much ashamed to be ibo?

One question dat always come to by mind when i hear ibo complainin about SW is.... If southeast is truely d paradise dat u want us to believe it is, why wud a reasonable person leave there for places u call 'backward' in the west?
The osun state u ar callin desert is providin food for thousands of ibo..go to iwo, ede, ife talkless of osogbo where i stay,u see them hustling..so if east is dat gud as u want us to believe, what are thet doing even in our smallest villages?

Fashola did send the ibos back with dignity. First of all he collected people from different states and dumped them in Anambra. And why dump them by 3am in the morning knowing fully well that the defenceless deportees could be attacked by criminals at that wee hour. And thats after being detained for 6 months in a Nazi style concentration camp in ikorodu.

And why people got angry with Fashola is that after that, he thought he could shut up the ibos by refering to them as immigrants and threatning to seize their properties in Lagos. If not what does he Fashola mean by refering to ibos as "guests" who should not quarrel with their "hosts". There are ibos who were born in lagos. There are ibos whose grandfathers were born in Lagos and should be accorded the same right as a Tinubu whose parents are from Osun state.
They are not guests...They are Lagos-ibos.

What did Fashola mean by telling ibos that "there is a lot at stake here". Is he trying to remind the ibos that their properties and markets are much here so that they should be carefull or else it will be seized? Thats a most irresponsible statement. Very reckless in nature. The day he has that thought is the day he will go the ways of his old man who just left.

The world is watching and waiting. If the likes of Fashola and his supporters feel ibos are not welcome in Lagos then they should have kept neutral in the civil war (rather than use Awolowos starvation policy) so that the ibos will deal adequately with the Hausa which am sure was very possible. Now that they entered the war to keep Nigeria one...there is no going back. Ibos will remain in Lagos to flourish. End of Story!

Excellent! I lived in Lagos all my life from birth till I gained admission into an Eastern University & up to that moment I couldn't say a word in Yoruba cuz in the environment I grew up, I had 'no Yoruba neighbors' so to speak & there was not much interactions in the neighborhood. I somehow started understanding the language in the East cuz of other colleagues who were Igbos but very fluent in Yoruba language.
So my guy, whoever lies belly flat on the floor to learn your language is just thick-skull & it has nada to do with tribal affiliations

Stop doing "Copy & Paste" my friend.
These statement was posted in another thread .... and it was duly and roundly responded-to.

@the Bolded: Pick a Dictionary and check out the meaning of "Host" ... and "Guest".
Except if Lagos was EMPTY (devoid of indigenous people) when those "Great-Grandfather Igbos" came down, they and their generation will still remain "GUEST" .... and those they met on ground (and their generation) will still continue to remain the "HOST".

Its that SIMPLE.

Did l hear you say "Lagos Ibo"?
What kind of arrant nonsense is that?

Igbos like to claim anywhere they are given small space! It is these kind of "grab-grab mentality" that is always getting them into trouble with their hosts ...... angry angry

Igbo are like 99% Christians that is they bear more of English names. I got to know about it when first got to the east. I have even been paying some guys to teach ibo language because it will help to know whats up. I have learned some. They made caricature of my name 'Olaniyi' initially, they said that it meant 'wasted person' in ibo language. Since then I don't usually say it openly.

@goodslayer:

There is nothing in lagos that will make anybody to be proud of it. Lagos as it is today is the largest slum settlement in West Africa.

Since FG moved capital out, the dirty yarobas moved in with their dirts from ibadan, osogbo, ekiti, akure etc. Again yaroba language sux, whenever I hear people speak it, it sounds like 'agbero language'. It doesn't sound genuine and welcoming.

That is why all the time I was in lagos before I moved, I abhorred the language and was never interested in it because it puts me and alot of others off. An igbo man may want to learn hausa but not yaroba because it sux and smacks of 'area boys' syndrome which is the hallmark of the yarobas.

Am sure nobody in Onitsha more especially will come close to if speak yaroba language to them..they will out-rightly treat you as a leper.

It doesn't matter if Igbos speak it or not. What matter is that Igbo are mercenaries they can do it just to sell their product and make their money out of you. But that does not mean that an average igboman does not abhor anything that has to do with yaroba language and their culture. Thats fact!

Am yoruba full blooded. Is what you mean by civilization the mud houses dotting the entire landscape of yorubaland? Let the truth be told. Remove lagos from SW, then yorubaland becomes leprous, nobody will not have anything to associate with because it will only epitomize poverty and plague. The only reason people comes to SW is because of lagos, we all know that lagos is not the making of yorubas. Let me tell you, a typical yoruba city like ibadan, abeokuta, ado ekiti, osogbo is so so backward, poverty stricken, no investment, no job. Am sorry I have to say this truth. All these yoruba cities I mentioned cannot stand side by side with places as Onitsha, Enugu, Owerri, Calabar, Akwaibo even Yenogoa. My problem is that we yorubas are always okay with little the government and individuals have done, that is why no new thing is coming except for the mud houses built 50yrs ago.
