Female Officers Join Rally For Jonathan In Abuja by Larufa(m): 3:00am On Aug 16, 2013
The Nigeria Army, Navy and Police today publicly and illegally campaigned for President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2015 general elections as female officers from the three key security and defence forces participated in a mass rally organized by the National Council for Women Society (NCWS) which acted as a front for Nigeria’s first lady, the main sponsor of the political event at Eagle Square in Abuja.

The officers joined in a march past as part of activities to grace the occasion but the action caught many people unawares, as it is unheard-of for members of the country’s Armed Forces to be part of such a political jamboree. The rally which was dubbed a "peace rally" made little or no mention about the various crisis bedevilling Nigeria, instead it became a campaign ground for series of groups paid for by the first lady to declare support for mr. jonathan and his political ambition in 2015.

The participation of the nation’s armed forces in the event in which they blatantly expressed support for the incumbent President, with the elections over one and a half years away, may be evidence to the whole world that the 2015 Nigeria general elections may be no more than a charade if the security agencies who are supposed to provide unbiased security for it are revealed to be political supporters of Mr. Jonathan.

I just hope Jonathan won't abuse these institutions during the 2015 elections, because it is obvious he is going to contest again.

With the way things are going politically in the country now, I'm now convinced that GEJ will contest in 2015 and he will definitely win, because he's still the incumbent president and the power/authority is still there for him to use to have his way.

Another thing that may likely give him an additional pass is if APC pick Buhari as their presidential candidate.

May God help our country o.

Her Holiness, Patience Jonathan, the Jesus Christ of Okrika is the de-facto Commander-in-Chief hence her over-indulgences and excesses in politics and State matters. The Armed forces have always had this sense of regime protection and has morphed into a desperate form of pocket protection, as against the protection of the people. The Armed Forces are political tools in the hands of desperate politicians.

GEJ is merely deploying the same boring approach that was used by late Abacha. The latest charade and jamboree bears all the hallmarks of Abacha's self-succession drive. GEJ had better not wallow in self-deception and praises from self-seeking praise singers.

Involving sensitive national institutions such as the Armed Forces in partisan politics only shows that the morality of the Presidency has not only been sacrificed on the alter of greed but also exposes the extent to which it can go in its quest 4 power.
Soon, they will know dat power is like sand in hand. The more u grab it,the more it slips out of your hand.

The excesses of this present government is becoming unbearable. At a time when the Government said they cannot avoid to pay the allowances demanded by the ASUU, they have money to spend on this jamboree, while our children are out of schools. Please Jonathan dont misplace your priority, this jamboree can wait until next year while you spend time from now on to attend to some pressing issues such as education, food security, health issues etc and then consolidate your efforts for everyone to see your accomplishments and decide if you actually deserve another term. You cannot coerce us or cajole us to vote for you in 2015. It does not work like that, except if you want to through this country into turmoil in 2015.

Only in Nigeria will you see parents attending a rally because of #5k or at most #20k to support a govt that is RUINING the future of their children- ASUU has been on strike for months and the best thing the First Lady thinks is appropriate at d moment is a PEACE rally ? What rubbish!!!

And as per those soldiers- It's now inevitably clear that things are now UPSIDE down in d country!!! If officers (regardless of their gender) could turn themselves to praise singers, what more debasement of professionalism can this administration do?

If d message GEJ and PEJ are trying to pass is about 2015-that they are in full control of the police, military and all other forces...they should be told in clear terms that 'no be by women soldiers '

Come 2015, whether GEJ likes it or not,he cannot be President again - Quote me!

Jonathan is a disgrace to the Nigerian presidency. I watched the bullshit yesterday and see how they wasted money telling us the importance of women. You don't need to tell us, we know women are important But giving them the kind of power u re talking about is not the right way. Because no matter how rich a woman is, she will still get married and be under a man.
