STUDENT WEEK.

It was the student week, the week that we all liked most because that was the time that we usually deal with our teachers through differnt means, especially in football and other sports.

We usually had excursions like te previous year that we went to the aiport and had a cross country walk.

This year we were told that we were going to the police station and the prison service commision of makurdi chapter.

We were also told that we were going to Aper aku again to see their sporting facilities.

Then we were scheduled to play as normal, handball, basket ball and football matches with the staffs like the previous year.

We gathered in school the next day and filled up inside the school rickety school buses.

We were in the buses and some jobless female species were wasting their strenght and energy in the guise of singing rubbish songs.

I just strained my mind to another direction and thought of better issues when we were stopped abrutely.

"Come down, pack well, oya begin dey line up"

Some jobless police officers at the gate odered us, if that it was armed robbers they would have fled with their tails between their legs but as dem see small children dem begin form military.

We all came down and formed lines, they came to our side like superior beings and started talking at the same time.

"Wetin una dey look for here"

One dry looking Jamb question asking policeman asked us.

"This man no well o, make we shout say na road we dey find na, since him no get eye to see us with uniform and sense to know say we come for something important"

i told Julian who just looked at me and shook his head, like i spoke italian.

At that moment the DPO came and the policemen changed their approach to us quickly.

"Oya you students should start singing the nashonal item"

A tiv policeman told us, i smiled at the mention of Item, we did according to his wish and the DPO addressed us kindly.

He then took us straight to the counter section where two policmen who were gossiping sudenly stood still like dry okro and saluted.

I smiled at their stupid sensibility, we then moved to the various offices and places, we were even shown the exercise room where officers were supposed to be training.

I wondered while they still had overweight officers with all this facilities in place, even the DPO had a tummy as big as a 5months pregnant woman's own.

Finally we were taken to the officers mess, the place mas mesmerising beautiful, some jew men just opened their mouths in suprise.

Students started jonxing for seats to relax their acheing legs. Different shapes and sizes of bossoms and bottoms were romancing me in the name of struggling for seats.

Me no feel anything o, i be pastor pikin(chai, me sef dey laugh for my lie, my young man wake up o but i pet am make him go back to sleep before him disgrace me).

The seats were not enough, we just manage ourselves, while some stood.

On the walls of the mess held difernt pictures ranging from oga OBJ to all the military heads of the police command.

The DPO enlightened us about the police force and other stuffs. Soft drinks were showed for the few lucky ones who got because students were really struggling for the drinks but as per big boy, i no move.

The DPO told us to get ready that he was going to show us the prisons and cells.

That day i saw what it meant to be a prisoner...
