This developement was brought about as a result of ommission of the House Officers and Interns(considered as temporary staff) on the newly introduce Intergrated Personnel & Payroll Information System ( IPPIS); a portal for payment of all federal civil servant. This scheme is expected to save the government monies paid to ghost workers previously. This scheme has so far proved to be problematic in most of the places it was introduced. |

Yet the auditor général just said that they have saved 120billion in 4 years from the system. The system that don't recognize temporary staff. The policy is gradually been developed to pay salaries directly from CBN to staff account. To cut the issue of over inflation of personnel cost by MDAS. Its actually a good idea but they are not supposed to have allowed staff to stay for more than 3month without salaries. How do you expect them to feed, that can lead to all sort of corruption. |

LUTH is also owing them salaries from before the IPPIS system was introduced. The FG took over payments 3 months ago and some of them haven't been paid for up to 6 months. As an aside, when the FG started paying people directly, LUTH resident's salaries went up by over N20,000. Apparently LUTH had been Make of that what you will. |

Thank God I have first hand info. I was at luth today and the senior residents are over stressed because the house officers are not working. In that same luth where one doctor can see over 500 patients back to back. Our healthcare system is in shambles. And sickness and injury is something we all must face. You can reject it all you want but atleast at one point in time you will know someone who is sick. What about old age and care for the elderly? Atleast we all hope to grow old. Whoever is stealing or hoarding the doctors money should be sacked instantly. |

We can only blame people at the top for so long, many others in the middle and at the bottom contribute to the status quo. 3 months no pay for healthcare workers and people are not resigning and apologising profusely is really beyond me. Everyone is complicit either via action or inaction. |

It really is an horrendous state of things when you make people work for you and you refuse to pay them what they deserve. At the psychiatric hospital yaba where I work, it has been the same yo-yo game with our salaries, ever since the introduction of IPPIS. You don't know when (or if) you will be paid and you're not even sure how much it will be. They deduct monthly pension contributions (which we didn't register for), deduct some shady Housing Fund charge etc. And flat out refuse to pay our Call DUty allowance. Yet they claim they've been able to save money by using IPPIS. The saving is from my salary and that of my colleagues in LUTH and other institutions. THIS IS INHUMANE AND CRIMINAL. Most of all these hospitals cannot exist without Interns and HOs, so the callousness of the powers that be is all the more astounding. GOD HELP US. 1 Like |

Maybe y'all didn't research properly about "internship" or you weren't properly educated. You are not allowed to participate in any form of withdrawal of services, demonstration, etc. Your aim of being a house officer/intern is primarily to LEARN. Tadpoles and you are already demonstrating. When you become full frogs only God knows what would happen. As interns we faced a period of four months before we got our salary, did we demonstrate? No. We only assigned representatives to dialogue with the administration while we patiently waited, and in the end we got our salary in bulk. Maybe you don't understand but your period of internship is supposed to be one year of uninterrupted service. The fact that you get paid is a privilege, treat it as such. Stop making noise and get back to work. And get representatives to dialogue properly to get the issue resolved. |
