Love Triangle: Two Friends In Knife Fight Over A Man by Trns4mat: 9:34pm On Sep 30, 2013
Two jolly friends, Aisha Bolumole and Mary Bayewu, could have stabbed each other to death but for the intervention of those who separated the brawling women. What could have led to this? Love triangle!

Aisha Bolumole and Mary Bayewu are not just bosom friends, the two women are roommates. The duo shared a room and parlour at Olosan lane, in Ketu-Titun along Badagry Expressway, Lagos State until September 14, 2013. Now, the friends are lying critically ill at two different hospitals where they were admitted after they inflicted deep knife wounds on each other in gruesome fight. September 14, 2013 was a Saturday.

And it did not end well for the two women. The sad even occurred in the evening of Saturday, , at the ladies apartment. Before they fought, however, the two women were reported to have slugged it out at a popular pub in Agbara area of Ogun State.

Aisha, 32, was the one that actually rented the apartment where the two friends had been living since 2010. It was she who invited Mary, 33, to come join her when the latter was booted out of her marriage that same year. It was reported that Mary was divorced by her husband for unknown reasons, but while wandering the streets for where to lay her head; Aisha was the saving grace, having requested her to come live with her pending the resolution of the quarrel with her husband. Aisha is a nurse in a private clinic close to Badagry, while Mary is a road side snacks seller close to their home. It was reported that Aisha even provided the N60, 000 with which her friend started her business.

The loan has not been repaid. Since 2010, both friends, who were reported to have attended the same primary, secondary and even Lagos State Polytechnic together, had been living at the above address without rancour or any animosity. But Aisha’s love for Mary got sour two weekends ago when she discovered that the woman she rescued from the streets was dating her own fiancé.

It was reported that all her life, Aisha had not got any man to propose marriage to her. Even while her best friend Mary spent five years with her estranged husband, Aisha was still searching. Mary is well known to Julius, Aisha’s fiancé as the two friends often visit the banker together. Sometimes when Aisha was not in town, Mary usually visited Julius, who lives about four streets away from them.

This was under the guise of keeping the man’s company while his woman was not there. However, early this month, Aisha had to travel far outside the state to write a professional examination where she would spend three weeks.

While away and as usual, Mary reportedly started visiting the man ostensibly to keep his company. But Mary had other reasons beyond that. Somewhere along the line, Mary began to frequent Julius’ house and while there, she would prepare food for the man as though playing the role of her friend.

Before long, Mary was said to have requested that she passed the night at Julius’ place on the pretext that she was scared by some tombs beside their house. Julius obliged. Before he knew it, Julius and Mary started meeting at a pub outside their domain at Agbara area of Ogun State. But soon, a neighbour of the two friends was at the pub to unwind and caught Julius and Mary coming out of one of the rooms in the hotel.

The said neighbour probably told his wife what he saw and the matter soon became a topic in the area. Another neighbour reportedly informed Aisha on telephone of the development and the woman had to abandon her last papers to rush back to Lagos and see things for herself. But while coming, and apparently wanting to ascertain the story she was told, she never informed her friend nor Julius, her fiancé.

Aisha got returned home on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, to hear that her friend had not opened shop in two days. She reportedly went to her fiancé’s house and was told the man had not been seen in the last two days. A neighbour of Aisha, identified as Bose, who spoke with reporters, claimed that the nurse probably got wind of the amorous relationship between her friend and Julius, headed straight for the hotel where they were said to always hang out.

According to Bose, “What we heard was that when Aunty Aisha got to the hotel, she saw her boyfriend’s car parked in the compound and made enquiries and was later shown the room where the man lodged. When she banged on the door the man felt it was one of the waitresses and asked the Aunty Mary to go open the door.

When the lady saw Aunty Aisha by the door she ran back into the toilet in the room, but we heard that Julius prevented the two ladies from fighting,” Bose said. It was reported after a fight between the two friends were prevented at the hotel, Aisha returned home and changed all locks to the apartment. Mary reportedly stayed away for three days only to appear on Saturday.

She claimed she came to pack her things from the house but Aisha refused to allow her. A fight soon ensued and Aisha reportedly stabbed her knife severally. Bleeding profusely, Mary also reportedly ran into a room in the building and produced knife with which she cut Aisha all over her body. Another neighbour, Katherine Effiong, told reporters that but for the timely intervention of men in the compound, the two friends would have killed each other.

According to the housewife, “The rumour of the man and Mary dating had been going on for almost a week until Aisha suddenly came home from her trip without informing the two of them. She later caught her friend with the man at the hotel but they could not fight there. Mary could not come home immediately but when she came home, it was war. We thank God that they only sustained injuries and none of them died.” Saturday Mirror tried to get Julius to speak on the matter but he claimed it was a fight between two friends and that he could not say anything on it.
